So Ive been watching stuff about WW1 and it got me wondering why some of the imperial guys have gas masks on if there are no gas weapons in 40K?
Just a thought.
PS-Now that I think of it, it would be cool to change a large blast mortar or something into a gas weapon.
Thoughts?

There are of gas weapons even in Warhammer 40k, they are just not playable. Of course, a gasmask can also help when you have to deploy your troops on planets which, after millenia of polution,
have a poisonous atmosphere, like many hiveworlds do .

Ah, yes, pollution
Itd be cool to see a gas weapon put in 40K, maybe ill make that my next project in modelling.
After I finish my tankbustas.
And the Painboy.
And the Looted wagon.
ANd the drednaught.
Yeh, it might be a while.
By the way, are you German/ do you speak German?

Chemical & Biological weapons are used by Humans, Tyranids, and Chaos (the Death Guard in particular).

They got rid of or toned down all the gas and bio weapons because they were too powerful. I wiped out almost a whole 2nd ed guard army with one virus grenade.

I expected more along the lines of 40$, 50 or whatever is insane for ten guys. If I decide to do DKoK Ill sub in german WW1 guys If I can find the right size and such.

I think the gas masks are more for environmental hazards, plus, it doesn't hurt to be prepared.

Biological weapons would be too devestating for normal games of 40k.

that and some armies would be immune to the effects. Space Marines due to physiology, Orks(being plants helps), Nids are constantly evolving, and Chaos is chaos(and being marines too)

Appoc is where Chemical Warfare could be explored. but even then, you would need a larger Appoc game for it not to be an "I win" butten.

Bio weapons, yes, however theres something to bew said about gas. Possibly a gas mortar, large blast, but when you shoot it the area hit becomes difficult terrain or something. Thatd be cool.

I dont remember a gas mortar

But yea I think the masks are mainly for environments since things like plague bearers can easily bypass even space marine armor

Plus it looks cool!

you can use FW lists where you are allowed to.

most reasonable people will let you use the rules for models you have paid good money for.

a portion of the community holds an erronious view that FW is overpowered. in reality, most is underpowered and overcosted. the 1 or 2 things that are out of line give everything else a bad reputation.

if you group is cool with the lists(which are designed with normal games in mind) then its ok.

you can't use any Super Heavy vehicles in regular games as they are Appoc only.

it is also rumored that GW will announce that FW will now be completely legal in normal games and in GW sponsored events(boosting sales which are lagging)

Tyranid spore mines and venomthropes use chemical weapons in the form of poison gas.

Well, I can see why sales are lagging when it costs me 50 bucks for 10 pieces of plastic.
Anyways, thanks, if iI ever decide to go with DKoK then ill know I can field em.

What about these?

I must admit, I bought some of them and they surprised me for their price/quality ratio... Not FW level, but they can hold their own vs GW. You can even easily convert them with IG weaponry.
They even come with some cool shotguns you can use for veterans/engineers and much better granade launchers than gw ones.
