It was a really tough decision for me. Not wanting to vote for myself, I had a good solid read through everyone's entries, and found myself surrounded by quality; and i've had to scrutinise all of them closely in order to find something to base my decision on.

My favorites were Decimus' Bad Day and The Path of Drayaan. Decimus's Bad Day was wonderfully witty Grim-dark.

It'll be up to lowmanjason to decide what happens, but seeing as though it's battling for first position right now, so the story is obviously of some quality that wasn't written by him, i'm voting for disqualification, especially since he failed to state that you wrote it for him in the contest entry. But we're also stuck, since I can't vote for my second choice, and neither can the other voter.
Either way, thanks for coming clean on slugga's behalf.

Surprised that neither The Awakening nor Contact have had any votes. The length of The Awakening might not be to some people's tastes (although both Beat to Quarters and The Path of Drayaan are of a similar or larger size); plus the subject is quite a different one, and not based on established fluff like that of the Space Marines or Imperial Guard.
Contact is shorter and snagged second place for me (well, first now The Hellstorm 171st has been DQed), and it isn't your average fluff-fic; also, like The Awakening, it's quite an untouched subject in the world of 40k fiction.
It seems as though the dark humour of Decimus' Bad Day is winning out overall at the moment; but with a 48 or so hours of voting left, another story could catch up; Beat to Quarters and The Path of Drayaan are stalking close behind, with For the Dark Gods and Cake! also not far off.
EDIT:
@lowmanjason - You might want to edit the OP declaring The Hellstorm 171st's DQ, and also providing lniks to the stories (quote my post with the link, and copy and paste the list). Some people might not read further down and may inadvertently vote for a DQed entry, or not want to wade through the entry thread for each seperate entry.

No problem. I have written several stories for sluggaslugga on the lore of his armies. I was actually suprised to see the story posted up here on the competition as this story is many months old. Just over 24 Hours until the winner is revealed; and it looks like Beat to Quarters and Decimus' Bad Day might be joint winners; but with For the Dark Gods and Cake! and The Path of Drayaan still close behind, 24 hours can't seem to come quick enough, with both of them equally able to contest 1st position themselves.
Even Glorious Blood or The Awakening could rally and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
As we enter the final day of the voting, nails will be bitten and teeth shall be ground; it's such a close fight that we could see 2 or even 3 winners at the end; and we might require independant judging, or even a second round of votes to decide a clear winner!

ALL RIGHT! Well that was fun!. It looks like Lonelictor takes the win with "Decimus' Bad Day". Congradulations! This was my favorite too and got my vote! Unfortunatley the Admin wouldn't allow for a special title or anything but suggested we come up with a custom signature. So does anybody know how to make one of those fancy signatures that some people have so that we can use that as the prize.
