Hi guys,
Although I have more than enough to do with my frist army (Blood Angels) I decided to start a second army. My gaming partner and I are bored fighting Space Marine vs Space Marine, so he started a Tau army and I made a decision and bought me some Dark Eldar.

The story behind them is that they have been fallen from favour with the leaders of Camorragh and now have to live a painful life deep down under the city in the sewers and drains of Camorragh, where toxic waste and radioactivity from the wastewater leads to mutations and they allways struggle for life against foul creatures whose body parts are used by the haemonculi for their gruesome experiments, while the skin and leather of the biggest and most dangerous creatures serves as a clothing for their trueborn.

I will go for a corsair/pirate/Flying Dutchman/Cthulu theme because I think it really fits the spirit of the Dark Eldar.
To get the feeling of how I want them to be... A conversion of him will be their leader...

Yeah... That sums it up quite well and gives me whole lot of options for awesome conversions.
Here is what I have done so far:

WYCHES:
Half twisted Syrens half Dark Eldar they hunt down whatever prey happens to be the next in reach.

Their HEKATRIX:

And the TRUEBORN, left arms aren't attached yet for ease of painting:

If anyone is interested. I combined a box of Wyches, a box of Kabalite Warriors and a box of Dark Elf Corsairs with bits from the Dark Elf range and some heads of Daemon seekers (I think that they belong to them)
There will be more to come, since there are more models in these boxes than those shown here. But they have to wait for now. ^^

That Hekatrix is great, and the trueborns look nice as well. For the pirate theme what do you plan do do special with the thingydos? (I seem to have forgotten the names for dark eldar vehicles)

Well.. For the vehicles I will convert the crew to look more like corsairs. I will use a lot of the Dark Elf Corsair bits to do this. Of course I try not to go overboard. They should look like Dark Eldar at the end of the day.

But generally speaking those vehicles already look like ships. Maybe I will enlarge the sail. And try to achieve what I'm going for with decorative elements.
Other than that I think I do not need to do much to create a convincing buccaneer felling to them. ^^

The raiders (and ravagers) comes with two sails each, so if you are going to use venoms you could put the smaller sails on them, for the looks.
I like the conversions.

I bought me a ravager and a venom today and when I realized that the ravager kit even comeswith FOUR sails I actually thought about that myself.
First I thought it would maybe look goofy, but since you are suggesting the exact same thing I'll give it a try. ^^

I'm a little busy right now, so progress takes quite some time, but I hope I can post some things soon. (same for my Blood Angel blog)

Yay
I like btw that you chose Lokhir Felheart as base for your archon, I love that sculpt. Just remember to put some Dark Eldar-ish parts on him

Of course.
He requires a decent amount of conversion.
At least replacing the two arms, and maybe giving him some kind of back banner, since I love banners. ^^

I also ordered this fellow here as my flagship. I will take the two side gunners of a Ravager to make a Reaper to Ravager conversion leaving the original Ravager as a Raider.

So his red blade in his right hand won't remain? I think it should it would work out great as a huskblade or similar, I think. The left hand and knife could (or even should) of course be replaced with a pistol or similar, but I don't think the right should be.

But if you do, please send it to me.

Hmmm. I think the blade looks a bit clumsy, but I will figure it out once I have the miniature in hand.
I definetly will send you the result.

But first behold this....
Your idea becoming reality:

Looks promising to be honest. ^^

The sail will definetly be on one side or the other because of the gunner in the middle.
But this will be crazy cool once finished.

No no, I meant that if you don't like the blade, please send it to me Might have emphasized it wrong...

But about the venom: It looks great! Might actually have to do that on my venoms too...

And about the sail. It really looks much better than the regular poles with the little banners. I don't like those very much.
They seem like not belonging there. Can't point out why. It's just my feeling.

Thy do look a bit wobbly indeed, as if they are about to fall of. Good to hear then that the ravager comes with four sails!

Btw. I just visited your blog.
I'm pretty much blown away by your work.
These are the first Eldar I like.
Especially those Fire Dragons are great, as well as the blending on your vehicles.

The conversion of the Autarch is pretty neat too. Very creative and some nice green stuff skills there.

Yep... If you run the regular heavy support with three Ravagers you get NINE spare sails. ^^
Enough for even a heavy venom list.

Setting sails made me laugh. ^^
Thank you guys.

The sails are from a ravager kit, but they are all equal in size.

Wooohooo.
I'm shamelessly impressed by my own conversion. ^^
Behold the WIP corsair Venom with sail.
Totally fits the style I'm going for.
And the best thing about it... it's free. I do need to order additional bits.

I'm buying those for the Razorwing flocks:

And I will convert me some Khymeras using this kit:

This forum post might be more suited for the P&M WIP forum section.

Looks good though.

I have no particular feelings about Dark Eldar, but I love tasteful kitbashing (maybe I should have italicized tasteful in lieu of love...). Medium of Death nailed it in the first response - simple, clean conversions are going to make for some pretty sweet results, I'd wager. All the better that you have a distinct and characterful direction. I wouldn't mind seeing this turn into a (hopefully long and healthy) plog.

Thank you oadie for your kind words.
I'm a little short on time in the next few weeks, but I'll keep this blog up, until the army is finished, of course.

If some moderator is reading this. It would be great if the thread would be moved to the blog section. Thanks!

Hi guys.
I'm working shift right now so I only make little progress with this army.
But nevertheless I managed to build me some Trueborn with blasters aka Blasterborn.
I converted the weapons fron disintegrators out of the ravager kit. Why? Because I probably don't use them on the ravagers, so they are free is some way (not willing to pay 6 bucks up for a single blaster). They even look better then the regular blasters in my opinion because they are slightly bigger, which makes them look far more impressive.
Please tell me what you think though.

I also bulit another wych.

And a Kabalite warrior. I will go for all bare heads with my warriors to make them look more like corsairs.
