I've decided that what I need is a new SM chapter. Here is the fluff outline, color scheme, and rough build ideas I have:

Name will be either Green Legion or Crusader
Fluff: A chapter that has been secretly convinced that Blood Angles are heretics. There secret mission is to expunge the world of blood angles in every tournament setting.

colors: avocado green with yellow trim.

Build:

The army will contain both Vulkan and Tigurius. Tac squads will have SGT with combi melta, and they will have a multimelta and a melta gun in each. dreds will have heavy flamers and multimeltas. terminators will transport in a redeemer and be armed with storm shield and thunder hammers.

tactics: use tigurious to create a void sheild, then use his other powers to blast SMs as needed. vulkan makes thunderhammers master crafted which helps the CC squad of termies, while the meltas and flamers are all twinlinked. The point is to deny feel no pain as much as possible thus taking the largest broken aspect of blood angles away. The army will contain just enough heavy firepower in the form of TW lascannon predators and missile armed devistators to drop the flying bus and furious dread...

So...
Your chapter has taken it upon themselves to destroy not only one of the most dedicated, if cursed, chapters in the history of mankind but also the genetic sons of sanguinious who effectively saved the Emperor in his final battle with Horus?
That had better be a really good reason...

It's the Blood Angles, not the Angels Purplefood.

On topic, the problem is that Blood Angles ruin the game by breaking many established rules upon which others' codex rely. The codex creap has been so steep with BA that nearly all the older codex (except SW) are obsolete.

So, a chapter based on the belief that BA are heretical seems perfectly reasonable to me. Of course if you hyperventilate about pure canon, then this is a problem for you. However, if you think fluff is fluff and game has rules, then you'll understand my undying hatred of a codex that put all of my armies out of work.

So...Salamaderish chapter to burn the BA to their boots!

We're "hijacking" because your fluff is pretty bad and you're not spelling "Blood Angels" right, despite it actually being spelled correctly in this very thread.

If your problem is with the book, fine. But there is no actual precedence for the Imperium at large to consider the Blood Angels or the majority of their Successors as "mutants" or "corrupted".

IF you want a chapter that considers Any mutation and any non-human as a potential threat or even heresy, play Red Scorpions.

And even then it's hypocritical to the extreme because Astartes are in fact mutations and not human.

At any rate making a chapter that hates another chapter because their codex is better than yours doesn't really make a whole lot of sense...
If they had a reason to dislike BA then maybe it would make sense...

You missed the point.

The Adeptus Astartes, every single one of them, are for all intents and purposes not human. They're controlled mutations that are intended to be as far away from the 'norm' of humanity as possible.

I think I've said this before, but Blood Angels are one of the last chapters that would turn to chaos. They are disgusted with themselves to the point that they keep contact with the Imperium to only what's necessary. There are many of them that wish to cure themselves, and they make sure to give anyone who succumbs the peace they would have wanted. Plus when they go crazy all their visions are of killing Horus, so hardly chaotic.

A nice twist could be that the Chapter Master has turned to chaos and is inf act lying to the chapter...
That way you could actually have a renegade faction that are the true loyalists... after a big fight they reforge the chapter and go on a peneance crusade across the Imperium where they kick ass and take names.

So a non chaos twist:

The Green Crusade have dedicated themselves to curing the BLOOD ANGELS (angles as derogatory to the broken codex) one lost feel no pain roll at a time.

Or a disturbed inquisitor has cooped the Green Crusade to do it's bidding by killing off the BA.

Whatever, I'm building an army dedicated to destroying the BA dominance at tournaments. I'm sorry if I can't find a viable fluff to fit, but that's just how it goes. I paint/model/play. If I thought I didn't need help with fluff, I'd simply post a complete fluff right here...

But that's the rub. There's just no way to make fluff that isn't dumb for this idea.

The Inquisition doesn't go after the Blood Angels, because they're one of the Founding Legions and staunch defenders of the Imperium.

Your entire basis is predicated on the idea of "destroying Blood Angel dominance at tournaments". That's a bad basis to work from, no matter how you try to spin it.

Nah the in-game tactics don't matter to the fluff.
You could make your marines hate SW but still set them up to kill BA...

1. BA breaking rules? They dont. Its just that you believe that its OP or are jealous.

2. If a chapter would assault the BA, that would be deemed Heresy in big letters, and the chapter would be killed entirely.

You can be offensive all you want, just be helpful while doing so. the fact remains that BA are broken regardless of playing ability. In the last four RTT locally the BA have swept all. It is to the point that aside from GK, BA are the only tournament armies fielded by real competitors. Tau, Eldar, nilla SM, Orks, and nids are all getting crushed here. I've won 3 major RTT in my local area in the last 5 years and placed in as many more; however, this BA codex has made all of my armies obsolete. I don't want to play BA, and I don't want to play GK. I do think I have an excellent build for SM to counter their features: fearless, feel no pain, 12" move, no scatter DS, reroll hits/wounds, furiouso dred, storm raven. I just want a fluff of some sort that make it a point to the build.


Look aside from all the angst I'm apparently generating, my real need here is to find a way to justify my chapter's hatred of BA. I don't need smartass remarks or child like dismissal. If you don't like my project, then exit the thread. If you want to help me make sense of it, please do. I am willing to listen to reason. In fact, I'm not a great fluff nazi, so any help making it work or even come marginally close to working would help.

You're mistaking "angst" with "brainhurtingfromaridiculouslyterribleconcept".

There is no way to justify a Chapter that is a Loyalist to "hate" the Blood Angels. There is no "hate" amongst the Loyalist Chapters, there is rivalry sure. But when it gets to the point of conflict between them, the one propagating the rivalry has usually shed its ties to the Imperium and gone renegade.

btw, also I remember back with DA hate was rampant...I play deathwing mostly, so the jokes on me really. Guess my cheese got moldy and so I'm hating the new flavor of the month

I was thinking you do something similar to this:
On a random world the chapter master dies (heroically of course) and his body is possessed by a daemon. It manages to avoid detection and eventually starts causing trouble by commanding the chapter to attack innocents etc etc.
Although the chapter is almost renegade there is a loyalist elements (some of the captains and maybe 3 companies of marines from varying companies) eventually the possessed chapter master orders an attack on a BA fleet with the entire chapter. The battle eventually moved to a nearby planet where it raged all the more bloody.
It was at this point the loyalists chose to strike, they eliminated many of their renegade brethren and managed to even the odds between loyalist and renegade. Unfortunately for the loyalists the BA refused to believe them and fired on them all the same. Eventually the Imperium intervened and chapter was all but crushed and only a few loyalists remained (1 captain and 3 companies in total) the chapter was welcomed back into the imperial fold but were forced to go on a penance crusade. Though the BA made an apology to the chapter their remains an air of resentment for their actions.
The chapter is currently under strength but well supplied and fighting through [insert random system here] in aid of the adeptus mechanicus in the hopes the chapter can form a close relationship with them. The chapter still bear the weapons they used to fight the BA and they use them to great effect against both lesser and greater foes (whatever weapons those were).
