ok so a few rules in the thread: 1) dont take the biscuit 2)dont be stupid on this thread I like a good ghost story or reading somone else having a paranormal experiance so if anyone else has had somthing strange happen to yourself plese post it here (I wonder if there is a haunted wargaming store somwhere...) ok so to contribute i to this thread here is my experiance: i go to my modeling club once a week and it is in a art centre (washington model club in the UK) which it is apparantly haunted by a ghost, who when it was a farm the farmers wife hung herself because she found out that her husband was cheating on her AFAIK. anyway as i had finished painting my CSM i was going home so i left the art workshop(where it is) and went into the main hall as i looked up I saw an white ball it went in a circle 3 times and then proceeded into the wall...needles to say i proceeded to my elders car very quickly. i have never seen it since. so if you have had a paranormal experiance put it up here but please i dont want skeptics going around saying "its not this its this" kind of thing. if you have videos of your experince post it here they will be a good watch. cheers to all comments

I dunno, part of the fun of unexplained phenonemon is working out a plausible explanation.
I do enjoy mysteries, but I like solutions even better

My inlaws former house gave me a serious WTF once when we house sat for them. We used to love i because it was a good sized house, my father inlaw had a HUGE ass tv and we got to eat whatever we wanted, it was great. So one night it was about 9ish, the wife and I decided to shut everything off in the living room and go watch a movie in bed. So since it was 9ish, I wasnt tired, so I KNOW it wasnt a sleepy brain that played this one. My wife had gone into the bedroom to get everything ready so I was turning things off in the living room. Last thing to do was turn off the lamp, it was winter so it was dark as all get out, so I was about to turn off the lamp and turned to see where exactly to walk in the dark to make it into the hallway. Just as I turned to look standing next to the arm of the couch was a young child, probably like 4 Id say, was just staring at me with this really confused look, kindda like who are you? Now at this time, I only had my son, and he was a wee baby in a crib so OBVIOUSLY it wasnt one of mine.
Scared me so bad the jolt I got made me knock over the lamp and naturally it fething broke. So I was just kindda standing there in pitch black knowing I just saw some friggin ghost kid standing by the couch. Luckily my wife heard me and turn on the hallway light to see what was the matter. One of the worst scares Ive ever had in my life. Then when we told her parents naturally we were told that some lady died in the house before they bought it and that they both have seen weird gak in it before.

Nothing particularly close to me but I live in the same area as the black dog of burgess hill - a malicious grim IMO. There are rumours of it eating children but I discounted that as grims (AFAIK) don't do that.. hell, a malicious grim is rare enough.
Another one not actuarially me but this time a member of my family. I'm told that during WW2, my (great maybe) grand father was walking along a road at night. Saw a mysterious light on the opposite side of the road and crossed to investigate. When he got there he moved on thinking it a trick of the dark, this time on the other side of the road. In the morning it turned out he had almost fallen into a bomb crater - one the the massive "you fall in here you'll break your neck" kinda bomb craters. That events put down to the intervention of an angel (figures)
Have to say KingCracker's story is winning the thread at the moment.

I am extremely skeptical about ghosts and the paranormal and whatnot, but I don't completely discount people's experiences because of this story:
I was about 12 or so and I was baby-sitting my brother and sister at my grandparent's house. It was a gray, autumn afternoon in New Hampshire which is about as gloomy as a day can get. We were just doing our thing, playing and whatnot when from the other side of the house (we were alone, mind you) we heard a high-pitched woman's laugh. Almost a cackle. All three of us stopped what we were doing and looked at each other. It literally sounded like there was a crazy woman in the back of the house, which is a pretty scary concept for three kids aged 12, 7 and 6. I had my siblings wait by the front door and took a fireplace poker to the source of the noise, and instructed them to run to the neighbor's house if they heard me yell.
Of course I didn't find anything, and other than the windows there was no way out of the house. Seriously scary gak, and 100% true.

This one might be a little hard to believe but I guarantee you it happened...
I was thirteen and my uncle and my dad decided to take me, my brother, and my cousin camping up in Virginia. So we take a road trip up there, actually ended up getting at the campgrounds in the early evening, set up our tents, and got to doing camping stuff with plans on doing more in the morning.
The trip went quite well actually, we were supposed to be there for a week. On the fifth night, I woke up and had to drain the tank so I took a flashlight, didn't feel like going all the way down to the restrooms just to whiz so I went out into the woods for a good dozen or so paces, found a tree, and instincts followed. I had set my flashlight down for obvious reasons and was a bit groggy but what happened next made me wide awake.
I heard someone whistling, humming something. I could hear their footsteps and that in itself scared the crap out of me, at first I though it was maybe one of my family that had come out there too...I turned, it was dark but I could make out that there was a man walking through the woods, not towards me, but deeper into the woods, wearing some sort of uniform and hat, whistling to himself. I freaked, fell on my bum, grabbed my flashlight and turned it on. I scanned the area but the guy just disappeared without the slightest trace. Now, for some reason, my first instinct was to look for him, after a few minutes, my dad heard the noise I was making and came out to see what was going on, I told him what I had seen and in the middle of the night, we all got up and called the park rangers or whoever, cant remember exactly who they were...
They came out and looked but couldn't find anyone, one of them asked me what the guy looked like, thinking someone might be going around getting into trouble at the campground. I described it to him and then he asked me something that really freaked me out. He asked me if the guy had whistled anything while he was walking. I nodded, told him the tune of the whistle and he just had a blank stare on his face.
You see, the ranger explained that people at the campgrounds had discovered unmarked confederate and union graves from the Civil war before and that for the past few decades there had been scattered reports of figures walking around in the night and then disappearing, some in uniforms, some, like the one I saw, whistling "When Johnny Comes Marching Home." The rangers said that the sightings always happened at night and in the woods, so perhaps they could either be explained by people seeing things in the dark, dreaming, sleep walking, whatever, but I know what I saw. We didn't see or hear anything else on the other nights but I still found it hard to sleep...

I agree with that, Im the same way. Most the times when someone tells me a "ghost story" I just kindda nod and figure the usual, creeking boards is just that, not foot steps, and rattling windows is wind outside and such. But sometimes, youll hear a story that is a little bit more then settling house and wind.

My Mother claimed her house was haunted, and all of my siblings say they've "seen" things, particularly after my Step Father passed away...
I myself only experianced things "moving" ( I'd set something down and when I'd go to pick it up it wouldn't be there...car keys, cigarettes...stuff like that), the occasional "feeling of being watched" (when I knew I was alone) and on two occasions thought I saw someone out of the corner of my eye when the room was empty...but...I don't know.
As far as other "weird" stuff I've seen...twice I've seen silver "orbs" floating in the sky that "hovered " for a while and then sort of "winked" out....both times military planes arived in the area shortly afterwards....not saying I saw "aliens"...but it was odd.
The absolute craziest thing I've ever heard tell of was from an ex-girlfriend , who told me she and two friends were in a house ( near the woods) that was " attacked" by what she described as " Three foot tall, biped, Pig/Wolves.." ( I'm serious)...
She claimed that several of these things came out of the woods, attacked her mothers dog runs ( her mom raised dogs), and then came after the house trying to claw their way in...
I of course laughed about this until she showed me the house and I saw some pretty weird gouges all over the rear door and walls and a broken window...
Her friends both told the exact same story and both seemed more scared then " joking"...
One of her friends showed me a scar on her arm where one of the "things" supposedly clawed her through a broken window..
I don't know that I believe them..but I didn't get the vibe I was being BS'd.

Was this in Georgia or Louisiana?
This was about 20 odd years ago, the girl lived in Long Beach, Mississippi...and that's the area in which this " incident" took place..
From what I understand there had been other "sightings" of these things in that area...( Esppi Road I believe it was called)...
Like I said, I never saw anything other than a torn up house and a scar on a girls arm...but I know they were frightened when they were talking about it...
At the time I offered for myself and some friends ( all pretty heavily armed) to go check the woods out...the group telling me the story flipped out and litteraly begged me not to ( Seriously)...so I opted not to...
Honestly...I don't know what they saw...but it seemed to have scared the gak out of them.
EDIT:...I should add that these types of stories aren't uncomman in the MS/LA Area, I grew up hearing stories about the Rougarou...a wolf like creature that supposedly stalked the swamps and bayous outside of New Orleans...
And there was also a great deal of media "excitement" over what was called "The Honey Island Swamp Monster" as well...( A Bigfoot like creature that supposedly hundreds of people had seen)..

It's called drinking my friend. used to happen to me all the time!
...Y'know, I could chalk some of the incidents up to " a few to many"...but at other times ...I was as sober as a Judge..
Several times I was actually speaking to my Family, set objects down...went to pick them up and they were gone...I'd find them a few minutes later across the room somewhere...I'd always laugh and tell my Mom to get her ghost to stop playing, but she'd always look at me and say " I told you this place is haunted"...
Again, like the " pigwolves", I'm not claiming I " believe" anything...but..It was sort of weird. Automatically Appended Next Post: Monster Rain wrote:I've woken up next to a couple of wolf-pigs before after a night of drinking, so I believe this story.

I was on a family holiday in London, doing the traditional tourist castle trips. I can't remember which castle I was in as this was too many years ago for the name to be fresh in mind, but it was full of beefeaters... anyway, we were up in the armoury, close to closing time. It was a big room, full of natural light and in no way dingy or dark. My family were scattered throughout the room, checking out the swords, spears and what have you.
I spotted a suit of armour that was designed for a child, of maybe 7 years old (to give you a size idea). Now bare in mind that it was just armour, no mannequin. The helmets visor was open and it was clearly... well... clear. I snapped a picture and moved on to what ever was next.
A week or so later, back home, my folks had taken my camera to get developed and brought the pics back for me. We're all thumbing through eachothers photos when I get to the kids suit of armour. The suit of armour that did not have a face in the display, but clearly and plainly for all to see had a face in the picture.
That wasn't eary in any way, as I didn't notice anything until I was hundreds of miles away a week after, if anything it was pretty cool. I'll see if I can find the picture and post it up here

Closest I ever came to a paranormal thing happened back in '07. I posted this once before but I think it was on a similar thread over on Warseer.
I spend a great deal of my time working at a local halloween attraction called Jason's Woods, where I am the lead artist. One Sunday afternoon I arrived to do some painting inside our 3d show, and found that no one else was there yet. I carried my paint and buckets into the maze and turned on the blacklights and got started working. Its kind of nice to be able to paint without being interrupted and I was at it for about an hour when I heard a loud rapping on the wall from outside. I yelled my standard YO! greeting but there was no answer.
I stopped working and trekked back out through the maze and found no one there, just my truck parked outside where I left it. I took the opportunity for a smoke break, grabbed a few more paintbrushes and went back inside.
About five minutes after I started painting again (a zombie pirate) I heard the same tapping on the wall coming from outside the building. At first it freaked me out a bit but then I thought it might be someone else from the crew playing games. I went back outside and again, there wasn't a soul around. Back in I went through the maze in the dark and had barely picked up my paintbrush when the tapping started again. Almost like someone knocking. I had had enough and went flying back out to catch whoever was being cute. Again, nothing. I was about to go back in when I saw the farm's resident goose waddle over to the wall and start pounding it's beak against the aluminum siding - the source of the mysterious tapping noise. I felt I had been punkd. I guess it was hungry and trying to remind me to give it a bit of my lunch, as I usually do.
Speaking of which the Turkey there loves to share my turkey subs, and the pigs like to eat ham. Go figure.

I really like these stories. Dear god are there a few stories i remember that were creepy.
But I remember a few really good ones. Like the Gas Station story and the haunted forest thing, the iron gate story.
