What is the best game of this year by your opinion.
State your reasons.

My candidate is: PORTAL 2.

The game is sweet, great difference from RTS and Shooters. Also it was really fun to solve all those puzzles. Voice actors were also great, graphic was great ( and not to demanding to ) and it was fun flying all around

.

I will not create pull because I would certainly miss some game. But these are the games I will also mention because of their greatness this year:

Dead Space 2
Crysis 2
Battlefield 3
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Warhammer 40000: Space Marine.
Assasins Creed: Brotherhood.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.
Bulletstorm.
Witcher 2.
Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War II: Retribution.

Seems we have a BF fanboy here since the only "fix" was removing MW3.

Needless to say Skyrim will be the Game of The Year when released.

I finished Crysis 2 Literally 10 minutes ago, and it was up there amongst the top games I have ever played.

Having said that, my vote would no doubt go to BF3, and I havent even played a beta version

I'm just that confident.
I'm sure Skyrim is gonna be awesome as well, im just not into games of that genre. No doubt I'll be giving it a whirl anyways though

Everyone knows that Superman 64 is the greatest game of all years!

I agree. If ever anyone asks you what game to buy for their son's birthday, the answer always has to be Superman 64. Cannot get a better game.

Considering the games released so far, my vote goes to deadspace 2. It portrays Isaac as just a regular guy who pulls off some crazy moves (the train section comes to mind) in order to survive. Not only that, it's believable. My only qualm with the game is the plasma cutter is still too powerful. I get annoyed on a game that you can beat using the first weapon and nothing else. True, I could switch to one of the other weapons, but there was simply no reason to when the first gun did the job and did it well. Think halo 1 pistol.

Retribution was decent, but the recycling of the levels got old fast. I couldn't make myself complete more than two campaigns before I got tired of doing the same mission again and again. I would rather it go back to skirmishes like DoW1

Finally, as for upcoming game that might be game of the year, I'm going with Saints Row 3.

Portal 2 was simply not that interesting to me. What especially annoyed me was during the game, your gun shoots slow enough to where you can see the projectile as it crosses the room. For some amazing reason towards the end of the game your shot can traverse an extremely long distance in a mere second.

In typical fashion, I imagine skyrim vanilla will be decent. Once the modders get to work I'm sure it will be awesome. That's been the trend with the past two elder scrolls game and I don't expect it to stop now.

I'm definately saying Battlefield 3, even though it hasn't been released yet it has won (or was it nominated?) around 40 awards at the E3 convention according to the trailer, even before it's released!

The multiplayer is going to be brilliant, as you know it will be when it has been worked on for 7 years. Sixty-four player matches, huge maps, plenty of vehicles including jets and immense sound/graphics. Not to mention the Co-op Campaign and the Last stand mode.

This, for this same reason, though I have another problem with it; it got too predictable. I could walk into a room and instantly know what I was going to fight, without even stepping into it. There were times that you just KNEW what was going to be in a room. Big open area? Brute. Lots of boxes? Stalkers.

Also, Mortal Kombat is another top contender; I am terrible at fighting games, but I can still compete in it. It has also revolutionized the Fighting Game genre; it is actually worth a purchase if you don't have Online and don't have friends to play it with, since it, as a fighting game, has an extensive Story Mode, Challenge Tower, and Arcade Endings to unlock.

Seriously, I dunno. IIRC, Every (main series) elder Scroll game has been GotY. Would not surprise me to seem Skyrim rule all.

Battlefield 3 looks sexeh.

While not a major contender, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom three looks great AND Phoenix Wright will be a playable character.

Then there is RAGE. Id makes good games.

I was really gunning for BRINK at first, but that flopped. I still love it, but I was wanting more.

Spiderman: Edge of Time (once again, Like Ult. MvC, a long shot) looks nice and I want to see more of the Cause and Effect that they promised (What you do as Amazing Spidey effects the 2099 world)

Space Marine just rocks. Anyone who has not played the demo needs to right now.

MW3, while I am not looking forward to it, is another big title.

I think Spiderman has a better shot than Bulletstorm for GotY. Bulletstorm was just this year's Duke Nukem assuming Duke Nukem Forever never came out (Much like People pretend Tau never killed a Daemon Prince, I'm Ignoring Duke Nukem Forever.)

Then there is the Halo Remake, While I'm not looking forward to it, Another big title.

Dead Island looks brilliant. I am shocked to see Bulletstorm and Space Marine( while I do like Space Marine, it's not a big game for this year, same goes for DoW 2 Expansion) and no Mention of Dead Island.

New Mortal Kombat was released the same day as Portal 2.

Portal 2 was fun.

While it's not until Feb of next year, The Darkness 2. Oh hell yeah. The Greatest Graphic Novel ever gets 2 video games, One that was pretty cool, and other one, I am looking forward to more than a new Tau Empire codex written by Andy Hoare( I dunno if he is or not, but THAT would

ing rock!)

Another good one in early next year, Soul Caliber 5. Look into it.

If I had to choose between all the ones I listed (barring the last two), My Money is on Bethesda and Skyrim. I have never been disappointed by something with Bethesda in the works.

Crysis 2, Killzone 3 and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood all take the cake for me. Then again I'm a bit biased right now because I also just finished Crysis 2 and I love being able to SLIDE ON MULTIPLAYER!

Wow, a lot of those I didn't know about. Will be looking into them! As for BF3, I'm not touching it on account of the Origin transgression.

The Best game of the year out now dead space 2 and stomping. I wish every game had a stomp button. Dues Ex looks very good along with bf3 and mw3 both are gonna be solid but alot of big titles are dropping in the fall so we just have to wait and see!

My personal GoTY has got to be LA:Noire.... Just a fantastic game in every respect.
As for what I think it's gonna be, maybe Skyrim or possibly Killzone 3. But there are soooo many big games still to come out yet like Resistance 3 and Gears Of War 3. Both big games for thier respective consoles you note.....

I am thinking unless there is some monumental mess up, its almost guaranteed to be Skyrim.

Actually now that you mention LA:Noire (which I completely forgot about) The game is one of the most solid games of the year and IMOP is the best or one of them for the year!

I voted Fire Warrior game of the year!

I'm thinking Dead Island so far, if it's as good as it seems to be from all I know.

Games that have actually been released? Dead Space 2. Stomp. LA Noire was just "meh". Solid but meh.

I'm a bigger fps fan tbh, I actually had no issues with Firewarrior, and thought it was okay for what it was. Hell it was no worse in style than Doom, and I've played that to death over the years.

Space Marine so far has not wowed me at all, so will look at it again, but its no where near my fave game of the year.

Hell I just got Arkham Asylum (yeah I know a little late to that party) and I love it, Space Marine just didn't grab me, and the constant executions thing to me will get old fast.

It felt more repetative than anything I've played in years, and I'm a WoW player and Dynasty Warriors fan. blood and gore does not equal an awesome game in my book, probably why I didn't like Dragon Age much either.
