Yeah, buy a bunch of models that you don't what they look like or even if you'd like them!

Great idea and an awesome marketing strategy. /sarcasm

I like Mantic but they've got to be off their rockers if they think I'll throw that much money at them for a product that isn't even in production yet and there are no previews for except for a few pics of a couple of WiP models.

Hmmm trying to sell product with no pictures. GW should be taking notes from these guys.

You can take the people out of GW but cannot take the GW out of the people. Marketing - why has it suddenly become a dirty word and needs to be avoided at all costs.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

After seeing the Orx and Forgefather heroes they've shown, I'm confident that the models in these sets will be good.

...but not confident enough to drop that kind of money on them sight unseen.

I like how you get "6 vehicles". What kind of vehicles? How big are they? Are they tracked, wheeled or flying?

Give me a break. I'm not a GW lover but at least I get to see what I'm buying.

When they show what you actually get for £150.00 then I will be able to make a decision.

This is pretty poor marketing or maybe clever - who knows (what the minis actually look like).

Yep. I'd be a lot more tempted -- or not, potentially -- if I knew what the models looked like. It's hard to even qualify how good of a deal this is without some visual info.

And I have to say that I'm glad I didn't fall for that, despite loving the idea of Chaos .. ahem, Abyssal Dwarves.

Yeah, I almost bought some; I'm glad I didn't because they were not to my taste when they actually made them.

Agreed. Im really liking the 2 minis from a page or so ago, but Im going to have to see all the rest before I actually commit money to the deal.

Asking people to throw down that kind of cash on things sight unseen is bad enough, never mind the fact that the release is several months away.

Being that Mantic is a tiny operation Im wondering if they cant afford to produce the minis without upfront sales.

They'll post pictures before November, no reason to get your pants in a knot. I agree it's a little early to do this without pictures though.

I like Mantic, and i am waiting for this minis anxiously... But i will not spend so much money without a pick of the rank and file of every army. I will spend more, but at least i will be spending wisely...

You may be tempted to go for a deal like this with a company that had a history of quality, Corvus Belli's Infinity maybe, Studio McVey.....you know these guys have the capability to wow you at every release, so you might be tempted to take a flyer and trust in their ability to bring home the bacon......but Mantic?!?

I think these guys are too young and unproven to be asking this kind of trust from the gaming community. Personally I don't like what I've seen from the Warpath range, but then I'm not the target customer, as I probaby wouldn't go for the rest of those lines (viewed or unviewed), but even for guys who liked the first preview miniatures, do you have enough trust in Mantic to shell out (what was) Battle Company money?

Man down, Man down....

This kinda like those who pre order video games and such without any substantial gameplay previews. If you have 100% faith in them, why not. But for the masses (including myself) this is a hefty investment with no clear picture

This is the same thing they have done with all of their models.
Undead, Dwarves, Chaos dwarves, all had army deals on offer long before things were finished.
The idea is, if you commit early, you get a really decent deal.

I don't see a problem with it.
If you don't like to buy without seeing first, you don't have to. But the opportunity is there.

The last time I pre-ordered something without really knowing what it was is when I bought Hellgate: London, that was the frist and last time, no company is ever getting my blind confidence anymore. No matter how good D2 was HG:L was not worth 60$ let alone 10$. Models are even riskier because there is pretty much only the aesthetics that count here so if they screw that up there is no soundtrack or gameplay to redeem the specific models.

On their blog they said we'd see more stuff during the weekend let's hope that's more than 2 single miniatures this time.

I saw this the other day.. would have considered ordering, but not without seeing more than 2 models.... really dumb marketing there.. like, stupidly stupid. If you don't have products to show yet, then just wait an extra couple of days till you do.. then you won't look like a buncha amateurs.

I'm really just interested in their human stuff anyways, so I'll just wait a while...

That's true and even more complicated than it sounds. Something might come out which 90% of wargamers think is quite good but you may be part of that 10% who doesn't like it. I'm not saying that's probable. More likely, as with the Abyssal Dwarves, the product will be of such quality that only about 10% can really get on board. But you never know. (I'm just imagining all the negative comments about the new DE waves, for example.)

It seems to be working for them. There must be loads of people in the world that love throwing money up in the air.

OK, now that is ridiculous. I mean, I assume it's safe to say it'll be somewhere in the same population center that Mantic HQ is located in, but seriously.

I like Mantic, but they're being kind of silly right now.

Generally I dislike Mantic's sculpts. Their discount prices (compared to GW models) don't excuse this rotflolstomp of a marketing fiasco, either. I won't be preordering.

I feel their sculpts are very hit or miss. Their Elves are not good. I like their Undead a lot, though, and I think they're better than GW's for the most part. The Warpath models they've shown so far are, IMO fantastic, but I still wouldn't buy the rest of them without seeing them.

I just realized. When you change the currency to USD, the price changes to $50 for all the tickets.

Dont you guys notice they dont have cheap versions of one army only as they did on Kings of War? You have to buy large sets to get one army only. Are they assuming people will buy the Forgefathers only and start using the GW orks many already have? Will they loose sales of the Marauders (Orks)?

Keep up the fight!

They have some concept art up for the two different forgefather vehicles included in the deal right now. Sadly, I was looking at the marauder army deal, which I was more interested in, and it had the same concept art for the one vehicle type it comes with.

The forgefathers come with three trikes and three vehicles that look like small versions of a hydra. The marauders come with six trikes.
