Looks like a pretty could deal. I’d be tempted if a) Mantic wasn’t so secretive with their dealings and b) the rules weren’t written by Alessio Cavatore.

You will be able to for warpath, very shortly. Forgefather and Marauder army boxes are being released.
They named their sci-fi starter “Fate of the Forgestar”. Hmm, see what they did there.
Yes, they picked the winner of a contest to name the new starter set, much like the ones that get run on dakka from time to time for prizes.
As for secrecy, I really hope all of you that are complaining aren't also planning on ever buying GW's "Dread Fleet" game (which btw will have about a dozen 15mm finecast ships in it for £75, and sell about a thousand times more copies than warpath ever will).
All the warpath models will be available to see on BoW starting from tommorow.
Mantic's horrible evil plan for secrecy involves letting us see all the models for the game a whole 2 months before it is released and shipping. Those bastards!
Dakkanauts have the right of it, and they should be hung, drawn and quartered for not showing us the models 8 months in advance, before they get sculpted.

Can you explain what the problem with that name is, directly and plainly because I'm not even slightly understanding what the problem with the name "forgestar" is.
A quick google indicates that you are concerned that mantic are stealing the trademark for the world's first custom rotary forged flow formed wheels and I will continue to make this assumption until corrected.

Considering GW is blowing the "This will be a limited edition release, here today, gone tomorrow" horn quite loudly, I really doubt this will be the case. Even if Mantic sells a mere 500 copies, they'd already blow past your expectations by a mile. Maybe next time you'll think twice before resorting to hyperbole, a tool for lackwits and nincompoops.

Mantic will not sell 500 copies because they suck and steal from GW and everyone hates them because they ran over their dog, and also they painted their orcs green which is naughty and wrong because GW owns the copyright to the colour green.
Don't force your wildly overbloated estimations of "500 copies" on me in attempt to cast the statement as hyperbolic, when it is entirely compatible with my own internal logic.

BEHOLD! They are selling tickets to an event before announcing the venue.
Warpath Launch Party Tickets
Strictly in limited quantities, the Warpath Launch Party celebrates the release of our sci-fi game and miniatures range, and we’re inviting all of you to join in the celebrations with us.
We’ll have the Warpath range available and it will be the first chance to play with Warpath armies as we will be running a number of demos and a large participation game. As with our Open Day, we’ve a range of tickets to best suit you, and we’ll be announcing details of our special guests, timings and location soon.
http://www.manticgames.com/Shop-Home/Tickets.html?utm_source=Mantic+Games+Newsletter&utm_campaign=6ad6108c89-Mantic_Games_Newsletter_105&utm_medium=email
It's going to be in the Nottingham area, if someone can make it to Nottingham, the exact location is very unlikely to make a difference. Personally it wasn't a problem not knowing the Open Day venue in advance, and if the delay means an appropriately sized venue then great.
Mantic's "blind purchase" strategy is for the benefit of people who are already bought into playing their games and/or using their figures. The pictures aren't there because they don't exist. Some of us are willing to buy the product off the back of what we've seen so far and/or at the Open Day. Those who have a different level of buy-in to Mantic or who have a different personal risk threshold on their purchases can wait until all the pictures are available.

You're being rather silly here. People are/have been annoyed since Mantic have had the sets up for pre-order long before showing the figures. If anyone was interested in getting a signed rulebook copy, etc, then they would have to commit to spending 100 pounds blind.
As massively unexcited as I am about Dread Fleet, I'm fairly sure GW aren't asking for/accepting money for it before at least showing it.
Also - so the ships are Finecast? Good to hear that you know all about the GW game before anyone else does, then
 .

That's a minor, but valid concern which Mantic have now addressed:
Mantic Games wrote:We know a lot of you have been waiting for these images and may have missed the 11 Days, 11 Hours and 11 Minutes of signed Warpath Rules, so for the duration of the Beasts of Warpath Weekend we’re going to be reigniting our special offer: any one who places an order this weekend will also get a copy of the signed rules!
I have no doubt that all the people posting on here who were so upset and angry and writing 5 pages of rants about Mantic's pre-orders will now happily be ordering away, safe in the knowledge that they will be receiving their signed copy that they wanted so desperately, but also wanted to see the models.
Amirite, dakkanauts? I mean, you were posting out of genuine concern because you personally wanted to have a signed copy, weren't you?

I wouldn't call it minor, but indeed it has been addressed now - and credit to them for doing so.

Well, I was posting because I like to be able to make an informed decision wen I buy stuff, rather than just throwing money at people blindly. I'm not actually sure I want to buy the boxed set at all now that I've seen the figures, but that's the point of being able to see things before spending the money, really. If I did like the models though, then on the balance of things, I'd much prefer to have a signed copy if all else is equal. Wouldn't you?

I'm guessing it's the close ressemblance to the name used by heavily industrialised planets in another sci-fi universe.
