Do you consider the Star Wars prequels canon, I don't because they're badly told stories that are unnecessarily complicated and make little sense. Plinkett Explains it best on why I feel the prequels should be removed

from the Star Wars canon.

Is there an "I don't care" option?

TBH, the prequel trilogy is poorly directed anyway, so even if they're canon, other sources are what you'd REALLY refer to if you wanted to go in depth with intelligently written lore. Kinda like Black Library.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Not posting in the thread is a good start.

Anyway, like it or not, if the guy who's in charge of SW says they're canon they are canon.

In a few decades all of the people who do care will be over it and the majority of people won't ever know the difference.

I think they are fine, maybe not the best films, but I feel it's pretty arrogant for anyone sitting at a PC on the Net of all places to tell George Lucas that his films are not canon.

Rubbish, maybe if thats your view, a terrible shame that ruined the memory of the first three could be another, but at the end of the day Star Wars is Lucas' vision, whether we like where it went is neither here or there.

But by all means, folks have the right to moan about it till the end of time, but debating if they are canon, you'd need George in the room for that.

There was a set of prequels? Didn't Lucas die in a horrible plane accident in the mid-90s? Who directed them?

Yeah, I remember that as well. I don't mind the Ewoks too much, well unless we start talking about those 'other' films.

These younglings don't realize that Lucas whoring out his franchise is nothing new. It stings a bit at first, but you get used to it eventually.

Don't make me mention the Christmas Special.

Actually the Christmas Special was so bad even George Lucas didn't want anyone to see it.

The best thing I've seen about the blueray Star Wars release, was a guy on Amazon UK making a huge 'positive' review about how he couldn't wait to see the Christmas Special on HD.

I lol'd alot on that.

On a side note, not sure if this has been mentioned on Dakka yet.. but.. uh-oh.

Lucas playing with Star Wars again

You know, my memory always gets foggy when I think about Jedi. Was Endor not a planet full of badass Wookies tearing the limbs off from stormtroopers left and right?

I voted no though. It's as canon as the original trilogy.

No. As much and the as I hated the prequels George is the master of his ship and therefore they should be treated as canon.

You may ask:
Is Lucas' vision (as the creator) of his Star Wars saga wrong?

They are tales made for children in the style of saturday morning science fiction serials.

I would also ask this question: Would the original trilogy, if they had been made today, been any better. I think not.

One thing really annoys me about the review of The Phantom Menace, when he gets the people to describe Han Solo, and then Qui-Gonn, Han Solo had three films worth of character building for them to learn about, which most of those people would have seen at least once.

Qui-Gonn only had one film for people to learn about him, and they would only have seen it once, as it was a review, he wouldn't have done it much after the film was released.

It's massively biased against The Phantom Menace, not just in his not liking the film (which I can accept), but in his reasoning behind not liking the film.

He doesn't get to make my decisions for me, much like I don't get to tell others what they should like or dislike. I barely recognize them as films, let alone connected to the original trilogy.

Episodes 1-3 aren't as good as Episodes 4-6, by my random sampling of internet discussions on the topic.

However, they are from the creator. That makes them cannon.

You can deny it all you want. You can bury your head in the sand. You can cry to your mamas.

But Lucas created them, so they're cannon. Protest by not buying the Episodes 1-3 Blue Ray versions, Super Extended Versions, Black Boxed Set, 3D set, and the 2020 release of the Smell-o-vision version.

Ooh, you think when that releases, they'll have arguments on whether you can smell Han's blaster firing first?

I can't wait to see how bad a Bantha smells or if Han was simply exaggerating.

Well, that's fine, but outside of your personal perception things can still exist as facts. Whether you acknowledge these facts is completely up to you.

Oh KK, you are my conscience. I wish they weren't cannon I guess would be the best way to put it, so I just think of them as mistakes by a Director past his prime in an insular environment; a failed experiment if you will.
