Anyone else keep getting stupid emails about illegal online account activity?

First received one about a couple of months back.
It told be that my account had been flagged up because I was trying to sell it.
Of course not havong had anything to do with a MMORPG for at least 18 months aroused suspicions
Quick Google showed that it was a scam so I just clicked on the appropriate setting

But they keep on coming despite me marking themm as Phishing scams
Am getting them from Blizzard and Runescape

Odd thing is don't recall signing up for either, but with my memory who knows.

Didn't even know that people could sell their accounts for free online games, or that anyone would want to buy them!

Anyone else had experience of this and any suggestions on how to stop the emails would be good please.

Maybe you could try sending an email to Blizzard or Runescape explaining the situation and how you would very much appreciate it if they deleted your email account from their database.

Or you could just mark it as spam and automatically delete anything that comes from them, especially if its a glitch.

It is marked as spam and phishing but it somehow doesn't get blocked

So Hotmail so called Smartscreen which marks perfectly safe stuff as unsafe so I have to keep clicking on show content all the bloody time but lets the crap through!

Was just curious as there are a few here that might have accounts if anyone had the same emails

Guess it must just be picking up on dormant accounts so will have to write to Blizzard and Rune Scape.

Basically with so many gamers out there, its the electronic case of throwing enough muck at the fan some of it is going to stick.

On top of sending out loads of emails, they can get hold of emails from various locations, if you note you play a MMO anywhere or go on various forums, there is a achance you will get these.

A key example, about two years ago I had a WoW hack attempt on my account, luckily for me the Authenticator meant all I needed to do was sign in at battlenet to resolve the issue.

On that day I made up a hotmail account that I use no where else, it's only every been used for two MMO's and its never recieved a phising email in those two years.

My main email, that I use here, Facebook and many other sites around the net, gets about one a week.

Just looking at one from Blizzard that came today it is a final warning regarding my WoW account

Have never played WoW let alone set up an account to abuse

Have looked on the Blizzard Tech site they say to forward the offending email which I have just done.

Will do the same for the Rune scape when one inevitably arrives

It is amazing how many "Final Warnings" I have received!
Never had one saying, "No, honestly! We really, really mean it this time."

Yea I get these quite often aswell.

MSN usually chucks them into my spam folder (along with Facebook ones because I told it to lol).

While yes I play both I can usually tell when its a fake. Even then I always go to the main website then onto w/e section deals with the "problem". I never click links in emails unless I expect them.

Its a bit of a pain when I need to recover my password and it goes into the junk folder even though iv told MSN that the email is safe :S

I get 'em all the time from Blizzard, though I actually do play WoW. You know the links are legit when they send you to such websites as us.battle.net.zh-coa.in. Did Blizz change their website without telling anyone?

I had this a few weeks ago,
Got a message from blizzard saying you password has been change, so I was like okay don't use it at the mo I will just password recover if I do.
Then a few days ago I got another E-mail saying your account has been banned because you were selling gold, click here to complain/ say it wasn't you or whatever.
*Try to Message them, YOU MUST BE LOGGED INTO AN ACCOUNT TO MESSAGE BLIZZARD. but you banned me?

It does pretty well for me. It blocks alot of spam and sometimes even things that arnt spam even though I flagged them as safe. Cant win i guess.

I don't have many problems with Hotmail, myself. Spam gets filtered out, with the exception of those fake Blizzard scams. It occasionally blocks something safe (generally messages from forums I joined) but for the most part it does a good job of keeping the two separated into the correct folders.

I get a good handful every few days. I mainly just delete them, since my Blizzard account is frozen (until the next expansion, when i'll get to the level cap and wait for the inevitable patch that nerfs my favourite class and/or spec, and means I won't see any endgame content) and my Runescape account hasn't been in proper use for a good few years.

I got these for a while. I sent an email back, saying that sending me warnings from 'Bilzzard' about my 'Warcrfat' accounts wasn't going to work.

They stopped for a couple of months! But after that, I just did one of those 'account reset' things, since I haven't touched Starcraft or WoW in ages.

lol I get these same bloody things about my inactive 2 year old wow account, apparently someones been attempting to log onto it 413ish times, they finally locked it today so no more annoying false blizz messages for me

Hopefully it wastes the scammers time.

Despite the fact that the last battle.net account blizzard game I played was diablo II, while doing my GCSEs, I've now been out of university for a year...

Some guy on the net made a website that crashes spider-bots designed to harvest emails. the website generates a list of 50 random emails, as in 'lhgdffkhsdhkgh@kfjhbggbfkjhv.com'
and has a link saying 'next' which just re-loads the page (generating another 50 random emails), eventually the bot receives so many undelivered email messages it crashes.

Whenever I check my gmail account's spam folder, I see dozens of emails from Battle.net regarding my World of Warcraft account.

I do not have a World of Warcraft account.

haha yeah. The only time I ever played WoW was on a friend's account at his house, so I'm safe there. And the only spam I get are facebook notifications, which MSN won't put into the junk folder for some obscure reason...

But agree the MSN system seems to be useless

I have added Blizzard to the blocked senders so hopefully that will help. but tried to do same for Runescape and it said that they are already listed as a blocked sender.

So how come I still keep getting their rubbish in my inbox?
And why can I not see Runescape in the list of blocked senders?

In spite of my best efforts they still insist on marking a legitimate site as unsafe with no means of identifying it as safe

I used to get tons of them for my Blizz account. I still do, which is funny since I stopped playing about a month before Cataclysm came out.

I was only a little worried, because it might lock my Starcraft account, which means no custom games with friends.
