Imagine this scenario: When Golum jumped at Frodo and took his ring, that he didn't fight at that moment - but ran. Only to be caught by Nazgûl and for the ring to be returned to Sauron who is made whole again. Frodo escapes and rejoin his allies who have all fled to Minas Tirith to prepare one final defense against Sauron's massive force.

In front of Minas Tirith gates stood 10.000 Orks with 2.000 Human helpers against 8.000 Gondor and Rohan solders. The attack of the Orks is leading Sauron himself. He charges - his Orks follow him. Inside the city - fear and despair as all know that Dark Lord Sauron can hardly be stopped again. Only Aragorn, Gandalf and their closest allies share some hope that Aragorn can once again cut Sauron's arm and then destroy the ring once and for all. But on half-way toward the city, across the fields, something happened. A flashing light appear, so bright that got everyone blind - even Sauron. When the light disappear on it's spot a strange figure appeared. A very tall man, in golden armor and with flaming sword stood in front of Sauron and his Orks. The Minas Tirith solders stood and watched in confusion, who was this? what is with his armor and weapons? Is he here to help us? Finally it was Sauron who break the silence and confusion by asking: "Who are you?" The stranger answered: "I am the Emperor of Mankind pawn of Chaos. And today I will be your judge, your jury and your executioner. Prepare to be destroyed." And with that the Emperor charged, Sauron does the same as well as his Orks. But behind the Emperor a flash of light appeared again, and this time 10 Custodes and over 100 Terminators from World Eaters Space Marine Legion engaged the Orks and their allies so that Emperor and Sauron can battle without any interference. The people of Gondor and Rohan stood and watched a battle of Epic proportion is waging in front of their eyes...

This is battle only between Emperor and Sauron, no other forces will intervene ( as they are locked in a battle with one another. Nazgûl are also engaged with the Imperials as well as Sauron Human allies ( pirates and Men from East with their HUGE elephants ). Who wins?

on the forum. Obviously

Yes Empra wins
The Emperor has
- godlike psy-powers
- a kickass power sword (you know, that ignores armor)
-Power Armor
-god like strength
-god like reflex

Sauron Has
-Almost God like Strength
-Magic that seems to do nothing (well, it appears to sap the will and strength of others...so nothing)
-Extremely weak constitution (seriously, cut off his finger and he dies)
-Magical Steel armor.

Sauron is a Maia of fire just like Gandalf (Olorin). Consider them the Tolkien equivalent of Christian 'angels'. The Emperor is considered a 'god' in all but name so maybe the comparison should be to Morgoth and the other Valar who might be considered 'arch-angels'.

The Pre-corpse Emperor would defeat Sauron in all out combat. Heck, even some of the great Elven leaders fought against Morgoth h-t-h, Saurons boss and nicked his shin. Was even given a limp by one mighty warrior.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Gondor and Rohan win this fight, regardless of the Sauron appearing. But yeah, as noted, the evil guys in Lord of the Rings aren't really that much more powerful in terms of combat. It's more the fact that evil gets to try again and again that wears down the good guys (and the plague that hit Gondor, but I never knew if that was natural or instigated by Sauron. Any idea, guys?), so the Emperor would easily destroy Sauron.

I'd also say that the Emperor could likely defeat Morgoth, especially after his corruption.

I'm assuming Sauron has no psychic abilities so the Emperor could pop his head like a bubble. The Emperor is way too advanced for this to be fair. His Power Sword can slice straight through his armor. His psychic abilities will most likely nullify Sauron's magic. etc, etc.

I wonder what would happen if sauron were to ever get married? Hed be stuck with his wife for the rest of eternity, because if he ever got a divorce and had tl take the ring off, hed die.

Ya Know, sauron is a God in his own right, and could never actually die, he was a shape shifter for a very long time, he only made the ring because he wanted a power booster, and mostly because he was in ring wraith form, I.E. people the Necromancer = SAURON in his ring wraith form.
He was pretty freaking powerful the ring after he lost it didn't mean he would go off into spirit form he was actually in Cul Ungol fighting the Elves and killing hundreds of thousands of peoples.
Now The Emperor Would win because he has a superior mind and can freaking wipe people out of existence.

Now a good matchup is The Imperium of Man vs these guys...

now that is a battle i would like to freaking see.

The Emperor simply walks into Mordor. And proceeds to blow it up.

Seriously, the Emperor could crush Sauron and his forces by himself. I literally doubt any of their weapons could so much as penetrate his skin.

40k operates on a much greater scale than Lord of the Rings.

Sauron is a tough guy. A really tough guy with a cool ring. The Emperor is Space Jesus. The Emperor can simply walk into Mordor, and simply pimp-slap Sauron, then simply walk out of Mordor.

No, it wouldn't be a good match. Because Imperials have tanks - this guys don't. And Guardsman in fact have better armor and weapons then them.
Now Imperium vs. Bugs would be more interesting...

Sauron wins hands down; he actually has a real author behind him not a bunch of hacks that work for a gaming company. GW staff would find some way to screw up the story or it would have too many grammatical errors to understand.

By which rationale Leopold Bloom would also defeat the Emperor. And Sauron.

I think you may have confused literary merit with proof-reading.

For the record Starship Troopers preceded 40K by 40 years I beleive. The original troopers did have suits that A Battallion landing on a planet could take the entire planet.

The evil eye of Zteentch has plans for the Emperor.

7 years before 40k, i checked on Wikipedia just after i posted (thought i should cover my bases in case someone disagreed... not that you are of course, just saying )

This is also the point where we start listing everywhere GW stole their ideas from....ill start, Power Armour from Starship Troopers....

EDIT: ahh Spelling, my old enemy *shakes fist*

Honestly, you're asking this on a 40k-centric forum. Of course most people are going to say "Emprah!"

That's like going to a Blood Angels forum and asking who would win between Horus and Sanguinius (canon notwithstanding).

Sauron is essentially a god, he has the ability to change reality around him at a whim, while the Emperor at least has to manifest psychic powers to do so, yet still has to generally follow the laws of physics.

I don't really think that the Emperor would have a chance. It would be like trying to take on one of the Chaos Gods in the Warp. The Emperor would be so hopelessly outclassed that it wouldn't even be a fight.

Not sure on this, but it's not simply a case of cutting Saurons finger off (the film exaggerated that part i think), im pretty sure that his body was sort of "killed" and then the ring was cut off. But even though his body was destroyed he still exsisted, can it be the same for the Emperor if he didnt have his golden throne?

Eye of Terra.

Well, looking at it from a certain perspective it wouldn't be much of a fight.

Sauron yelling obscenities trapped in the infinite void and the Emperor trapped in a corpse on his golden throne...

Sauron: You suck

Emperor: no, YOU suck..

Sauron: You're a freakin' corpse!

Emperor: at least I have a body.

Something like that. It'd get boring really fast.
