Title says it all. Mine has got to be Papa Nurgle, since he has some really awesome models, GW and FW alike, and his slow and deadly style of pay suits me perfectly. I wouldn't be surprised if this has been posted before, if recently so, please remove this.

Tzeentch is, IMHO, the least evil of gods. The reason he doesn't get along with Nurgle is because Nurgle is about despair and Tzeentch is about hope (or the books say something like that). You pray to Tz to change your normal life into something grand, you pray to Nurgle to save you from pestilence and death, but he's more likely to make you accept it as unchanging.

Of course, he changes for change's sake, and that can be irksome. But often change is good, because it forces us to adapt and experience new things. And he's got a ward save

Slaanesh is about excess, and anyone past puberty who has had his share of hangovers, knows that gets tired. Khorne is about teen angst and skinny jeans--I mean fury and stuff. He should just make it with Slaanesh and he wouldn't be so pissy all the time.

Mope for the mopey god!

Now that I've got some general warhammer experience under my belt, and let's say if I was forced to choose one, I'd go with tzeenth.

Khorne - Being angry all the time sounds tiresome.
Nurlge - Having a completely fethed body, and moving around at a crawl speed, sounds tiresome.
Slaanesh - Taking things to excess all the time sounds tiresome
Tzeentch - Dealing with change all the time only sounds like a bad thing if you're the kind of person to stay stagnant. My mind reacts to things very quickly and I think very quickly, and dealing with something for extended period of time is just bleh. Change is great, so I'm all for tzeentch and his scheming.

Nurgle because who dosn't love a god who give you aids and calls it a gift? On the serious side is seems like the only god who cares about his followers and is always looking to help them out and improve his own work

To quote the HammerWiki

Slaanesh bestows his favour upon any who act on an interest for an art, whether the art is that of combat, of painting, of poetry or of passion. The favour of Slaanesh will aid the artist in creating, amplifying everything created to immeasurable levels, while at the same time corrupting them indescribably, such that any mortals who look on them are at once both entranced and terrified.

Being someone who has a deep love of music, poetry and expression, I find Slaanesh the most appealing. Slaanesh is the most chilling of all the Ruinous powers to me personally
The other three Ruinous Powers most sane people would recoil from, be it the brutal gore of Khorne, the fetid decay of Nurgle or the alien and unfathomable Tzeentch...
It is Slaanesh alone that reflects our most inner dark secrets that all mortals wish to deny about themselves, the depraved lusts and desires which we mask. Can a man ever truly know his brother?

Anyone that's read the manga or watched the anime of the series Berserk would know about the chilling nature of passion taken to excess, manifest in Griffith/Femto. A most potent argument, yes?

On a side note, I find that Slaanesh is the one the kiddies least understand, and naturally lump into the 'Thats *GAY*' basket (not to be taken as a slight against any homosexuals, I'm merely talking about pre-pubescant teens who frequent the FLGS who remark that anything they fail to understand somehow has a sexual orientation...sad I know) as technically speaking Slaanesh doesn't *have* a gender, so therefore cannot actually have a sexual preference. Instead *It* represents desire in and of itself, in whatever form that is most meaningful to the viewer - he would appear feminine to me, masculine to another, trans-gender to yet another person etc.) And not just sexual desire mind, Pride, Youthfulness, Pleasure, Pain...etc any emotion in excess. So Slaanesh gets my overwhelming vote

One last observation...on reflecting on that quote above...talking about painting and fighting...I wonder if thats a tongue-in-cheek reference to the meta reality of war gamers, who paint, model and fight in TT games...it appears we're all unwitting devotees of Slaanesh after all

To be honest me and my friends pretty much still do. None of us have read much in the way of novels on him, and all we have for reference is things with nipples on the tabletop. I think the reason he gets so little love is GW just sorta markets him wrong.

Khorne - Muscle bound ragers
Tzeenth - Powerful sorcerers
Nurgle - Nearly unkillable plagued soldiers.
Slaanesh - Fugly anteaters, fugly girls, and nipples, nipples everywhere.

It's not hard to see why people who aren't knee deep in the lore hate slaanesh.

Agreed, GW has really gone down a 'bizarre' path for Slaanesh. Instead of evoking images of the Cult of Pleasure type of decadence and debauchery, instead we're presented with very alien and bizarre demons which are in some cases more suitable to Tzeentch's realm of utterly alien and incomprehensible rather than intimately, disturbingly familiar.

Here's a good example, this is closer to Tzeentch, Lord of Change and bizzaro (sans nipples) than Slaanesh, supposed Lord of Pleasure.

Wouldn't you rather see daemons looking more like..oh, I don't know...objects of lust?

I'd drop the trans-gender thing personally, and go for the female form exclusively (so that fantasy has something matching Sisters of Battle), playing up on the fact that most enemy forces would be predominately made of male warriors, and thus a Slaanesh army would be 'matching' their opposite gender, fitting in line with the whole 'appear as your object of lust' factor...rather than appear as a 'fugly drag queen' factor.
In keeping with that, Slaanesh should have alot more rules and gameplay focus which impact of psychology of their enemies, as Khorne has offensive bonuses, Nurgle defensive bonuses and Tzeentch has magic, that really only leaves psychology for Slaanesh.

thenoobbomb wrote:I hate slaanesh. Nipples arent badass, atleast not in their way.

Again, I'm with you on the whole 'bizarre, one side chicks tits, other side man tits' freak-fest...just doesn't work.
Though I do find the rather two-dimensional personality of Khorne very boring. The extent of his motives can roughly be surmised as
"KILL STUFF CAUSE I'M ANGRY *ALL* THE TIME"...sounds a tad Neanderthal tbh. Why not have him explore that whole warrior code of honour abit more in the rules?
At least Nurgle has that paternal aspect of him to mellow him out, and Tzeentch has the whole scheming plans thing.

I mean, seriously...how the HELL is this even supposed to represent 'Lust' or 'Pride' or 'Desire'?

Unless of course you're into tentacle pr0n?

They used to have that side of Khorne on the fluff, and they do now occasionally hint at Khorne's more 'martial honour' side, but not enough, i want more.

Personally, i like Tzeentch. The quest for knowledge and enlightenment (and the subsequent betrayal and corruption) appeals to me.

A not too distant future, Somewhere in time and space...

I'm going to go with: .

He's not exactly the one with the deepest personality, but it's ultimately just violence for the sake of violence with a little bit of martial honour mixed in,
because some people are not worth the wrath Khorne or his warriors, nor are they going to present any sort of challenge.

It's simple, it's straightforward and I can get behind brutality.

Wow, some tough arguments... but this is where I am at.

Khorne=Blood gets boring after a while.
Slaanesh=A very versatile army, but they seem to have some fairly trashy models.
Tzeentch=Too many people like him for not enough reason. I do like the models, but not as much as papa Nurgles.
Papa Nurgle=Green smiley characterful epicness. I find it very ironic when I play an army full of angry red bloodletters, and they are totally defeated by a hoard of smiling green nurglings. So I hold my ground, with the fact that Nurgle are also the ones with the best models. By far.

I love Slaanesh to death, I really do... But Tzeentch has my vote. After all, he is the god if change. There's a quote somewhere from him, I don't have it on hand but it's basically:

Slaanesh changes people into addicts,
Khorne changes people into raving berserkers,
Nurgle changes people into pus.
And Tzeentch? He is the god of change itself :3

You may THINK that Slaanesh's models don't fit his theme, but you don't know what those crab claws can REALLY do. Haha...rending.

Ok, in all seriousness, Nurgle all the way. I like Slaanesh's overdose theme, and Khorne's martial honor aspect (that's pretty much forgotten...) but Nurgle is me all the way. I would say I'm pretty lazy. Maybe not in EVERYTHING, but I am definitely unmotivated to change things. Now in most cases that's bad, and I'm not exactly pleased with every time that comes up, but when it truly shines, it's true contentment. Nurgle is very Zen, accepting of things that not only can you not change, but really don't matter. Kinda serene.

Khorne all the way... absolute rage, Bloodthirsters, constant warring, none of that messing around 'building' and 'worshipping'... what's not to like?

That and I love the fact that, since he is the Chaos God of hate, violence and anger he basically gets worshipped by everyone at one point or another... wars, bar fights, neighbourly rows over a hedge ending in someone being stabbed in the foot with a hoe... it all goes to Khorne

You gotta love Khorne. Hes just Pwn. However my vote would have to go to Nurgle. Despite his appearance he actually is quite the nice guy. He loves life, in any of its forms and rejoices in the creation of even the simpliest life.
