I'm obsessed with Tau and the book Fire Warrior. I liked the book so much that I think they should make a sequel to the book as a tribute to Kais kicking so much ass. It doesn't even need to be about Kais (I would even be down with a new main character). Does anyone know any rumors about another Fire Warrior book coming out soon? Or possibly direct me to any book that mentions Tau?

If this ever does happen (which is unlikely) it will probably be in the form of a DLC for space marine allowing you to play different races (which i doubt will ever happen due to balance).

I respect your interest towards the Tau, and I personally have nothing agaist them. But, to tell you the truth, many people thought that Firewarrior sucked. Along with critics.
So I doubt we will ever see another game like that. Especially with Games Workshop only wanting to make games, books etc. from the Imperium's perspective. As vodo40k said, we might get an offical Tau DLC to Space Marine, but I doubt that. They would have to redesing much of the multiplayer for that.

I think he's talking about the book folks...
Courage and Honour also include Tau.
There's a Ciaphus Cain novel with the Tau (You get a fairly good view of them as well) but i cannot recall the name right now...
There is also a Last Chancers novel with the Tau in.
That's all i can remember right now...

I would love to see a Warhammer FPS. Maybe something like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
But a sequel to Fire Warrior...you realise that game completely bombed, right?
Oh you were talking about the books...well, if they're better than the game I don't see why not.

Hey just because it had 1 count them 1 Tau fire warrior take out an entire imperial guard regiment, about 20 Loyalist marines and an entire Legion of Chaos marines doesn't make it a bad game! The controls did.

"Savage Scars" was a decent read and featured the Tau as opponents to an Imperial invasion. Some parts of the book were from the Tau perspective.
http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/Savage-Scars.html
As far as the OLD video game goes, a lot of people seem to put it down. However, I found it enjoyable to play in the Warhammer 40k universe from a non-imperial perspective. The AI and graphics are obviously dated compared to modern games. But it at least featured more variety of enemies than the current Space Marine game.

I doubt that happening because that's an assload of work for $10 of expansion pack. In a sequel down the road, who knows.
The second Last Chancers novel, Kill Team, deals with the Tau very closely. It was released at the same time as the Tau codex as a way to flesh out the race and give them a heaping helping of fluff. Although it's from the perspective of a Dirty Dozen-esque band of Imperial misfits, a lot of time is spent around Tau culture, in their cities, in their training camps, and with their upper class. It's definitely worth a read.

I think 40k could do with a sequel to Firewarrior, if properly executed. Anything to throw some diversity into a franchise dominated largely by Marines. On that matter, I'd also find the thought of another Final Liberation to be interesting, although I'm unsure if a successor to that game would work - turn-based seems to have gotten out of fashion, and realtime may put it too close to being a C&C clone. That said, this may not necessarily have to be a bad thing...

It's basically a Halo clone that manages to suffer from most of the game design pratfalls that Halo avoided. Bullet sponge enemies, the floatiest goddamn controls ever, trial-and-error sections of instant death, awful AI and corridor shooting. It's not the worst game ever or anything, but even when it came out it was mediocre at best. It had pretty cutscenes for the time though, and does have some nice setpieces.
I could see Final Liberation or Epic scale games done like the Total War series. It's RTS that isn't anywhere near Starcraft/C&C/ DoW with a grand strategic map over the whole thing.

Also, criticising the game because you kill so much is ridiculous. It would be a terrible game if it only involved killing 3 Guardsmen in the entire thing.

Halo clone? How halo is a doom clone? At least you could move in it unlike halo where it feels like you're treading water all the time.I think the captured the setting nicely. It's not exceptional but it was a decent game.

Fire Warrior was a lame novel.
Dreadnaughts falling over like turtles?
Bolt rounds not exploding after hiting/entering the target?
Single melta-bomb to destroy a titan and the Chaos high command?
It seemed likethe book was written purely to reenforce that Tau blood is cyan.

1.) Best Tau novel: "For the Emperor" by Sandy Mitchell
2.) Most material on tau in one novel: "Kill Team"
3.) Just reading "White Scars"
4.) Xenology has some information on Tau and Kroot.
5.) IA3: Taros campaign features a whole tau campaign.

What happens when a dreadnaught falls over? They are very top heavy with tiny arms and legs I can't imagine they could stand back up with them.

D'oh, you're right - I totally forgot about Total War!
That would indeed fit nicely. The civilian options in campaign play could be replaced by something more centered on warfare (instead of building cities you'd erect fortifications, encamptments, bridges, landing pads, field hospitals), but otherwise there's not even much to change in terms of basics. Maybe distinguish between flying in off-world regiments and conscripting local militias as far as reinforcements are concerned. Also, some system for morale/faith/discipline/corruption effects. And then they could call it ... Total Warhammer 40.000.
Also, they could get the original Commissar Holt for the cutscenes!

I would actually like a sequel to the game as well as the novel (novel first because it was awesome). The game is probably the same as the book, lots of impossible stunts featuring the main character destroying a full squad of like 10 or so of marines (5 or 6 of which were in the same room) chaos and imperial guard hordes being destroyed all by one single fire warrior named Kais.

Fire Warrior was the novelization of a PC game that wasn't popular. No sequel to the game, so no sequel to the novel. But as said, there are others.
And some time in the future the 40k MMORPG will feature Tau as a payable race

Something that seems to happen in the vast majority of novels or games, though - hero bonus, it's just rare to see it applied to non-Marines.
I'd be interested in a short novel review, too, though. Playing (or just reading) "the other side" has a certain appeal all by itself, at least to me...

When playing through the first level of the game and I discovered that of the four weapons available the laspistol was by far the best weapon I knew it was going to be a pretty terrible game.
And that's not saying that the laspistol was good, it was just far better than any of the lasgun, Pulse Rifle or Pulse Carbine I had available.
