Ok, I heard that he has made some pretty stupid things in his books, which make a mockery of canon info. Since I am a lazy bas and can't be arsed to read the books, could someone enlighten me on the following topics:

-Carnifex with a multilaser
-SM termies backflipping
-a kid taking out a Falcon Gravtank with a stone and a stick
-Farseers raped for 180 pages/surfing their platformed tanks into battle
-a Karskin becoming a SM
-Eldrad worshipping Slaanesh
-a Land Raider which seems to be a Transformer

Sorry if the questions are dumb, I am just dying to know about them. I could not find answers for these questions during my search. Thanks in advance.

There is only the Emperor, and he is our shield and protector.

Yeah; I've heard about those also but I don't have a source.

The only one that I heard about in detail were the backflipping Termies. There is also the Rhino that transformed from a Rhino to a Razorback and then back to a Rhino.

The Fex with multilaser? Possible, as he has a reputation of putting multilasers on everything.

He armed Tactical Marines with multilasers instead of bolters. He had Terminators riding on top of razorbacks and being best friends with a Kasrkin stormtrooper. He also had Eldar riding on top of Falcons.

It is a well know fact that multilaser multilaser of the multilaser is multilaser.

I still find it funny because the multilaser is only mounted in two places; sentinels and chimeras, and even then they are swapped out alot.

-Carnifex with a multilas is just a memetic mutation, implying that even the tyranids have them due to their prevalence in his works. Pretty much every time you would expect a weapon thats just a bit more heavier than the bolter, lo and behold its a multi-las, need to open a tank at close range: mel-MULTILASER, need something to deal with powerarmour why not use a pla-MULTILASER.

- Don't remember the backflipping, but I try not to remember too much.

- Not wanting to think about this one, because it leads to v

-This is true... its why I try not to remember this gak. The tank surfing is actually something Marines do, they were inspired by the Eldar.

-This is basically him not remembering that the character was a "Mauve Shirt" as tropes wiki calls it, somebody who gets a name, a few lines, often mentions seeing the wife/fiance/girlfriend when this alien invasion/war/case is finished, and then they get no input into the story for a bit before returning later and dying horrible. Goto forgot that character was meant to be disposable, and had the Guardsman keep tagging along.

-This is more a case of him over doing the Eldar's respect for Slannesh, in the same way you respect somebody who has gun and his waving it around. and by overdoing it we mean in his special way of being so extreme it can warp reality.

-Its basically Rhino, or a Razorback when he needs to have a bigger gun in the scene and he's not exactly sure on what the differences are, which would explain a lot. Its like how IW put an AC-130 Gunship in CoD4 and called it a Spectre when its actually an AC-130 Spooky, its all because they didn't know what distinguishes them... except considering the whole point of his book is to sell 40k to people you'd think GW would have given him a few models or at least the relevant codexes for reference.

Again this is also quite likely as in an interview he mentioned how he liked doing things his own way and making them awesome, ignoring what people and canon say because you're making it your own thing. For those who don't read a lot of the interviews and articles on GW staff, this is exactly the same words that Matt Ward uses to describe writing codexes.

Ergo Matt Ward is the evolved form of CS Goto after you give it a Moon Stone from the old man Viridan City.

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...
Lets settle this in the arena http://pantsformer.mybrute.com

I don't see how people can fault Goto for having Marines surf on top of tanks.

Jaghatai Khan did it.

And if it's good enough for the Khan, it sure as feth is good enough for you.

Slaanesh worshipping Eldar and Dark Eldar are a common theme in his novels and short stories. Warrior Coven includes Eldrad and the boss of the Farseer council plus Leloth and her cabal collaborating with Slaanesh. Goto also kills the only possible Shining Spears Exarch of Ulthwé.

The short story "Blood Tears" (Tales from the Dark Millenium) introduces his pet craftworld led by a Slaanesh worshipping Farseer council led by a fat drooling child molesting Farseer (yepp, that bad). The craftworld is also featured in his last novel Eldar Prophecy, before he was finally sacked.

Dawn of War Tempest features the female Farseer that is tortured and maimed (not raped) over 180 pages before being allowed to die. It also features somersaulting Harlequins always ending in "piles of mutilated bodies" within seconds.

He also invented braying Necrons and Tyranids

BL treated Eldar fans so badly, that Gav Thorpe was allowed to appease them with a fine Eldar triology and Andy CHambers starts a Dark Eldar series soon.

I'm fairly sure that the Multilaser-Carnifex is just an exaggeration that has since been picked up as "true" by a vast portion of the 40k fanbase. There's lots of examples for such hearsay in the community, be it because the writer of some forum post didn't make it clear that it's a joke (as in this case), because he didn't remember correctly, or because his personal preferences subconsciously twisted the original text in his mind so that it gets warped when he writes about it.

Marines surfing on tanks ... eh, probably depends on the Chapter.

Eldar torture ... well, it's "uncommon writing" for a Warhammer novel when this was really as explicit and drawn-out as it was described to me, but the basic idea is sound. This is 40k, after all.

The other stuff is quite weird, aye, but (beyond the Rhino/Razorback morph, which just sounds like laziness) I still think Goto gets a bit too much flak. It's obvious that he has his own ideas, which may at times be somewhat more distances to what people are used to than is usual, but at least he's honest about it. I recommend reading the two interviews on his website.

And in the end, it's not really "wrong" either. Goto's books are just another interpretation of the setting, and every single author, even every single fan has his own one. I often nerdrage about Mitchell for his representation of the Sororitas in his Cain novels, for example, as it's so drastically different to the GW descriptions I grew up with. Nobody else seems to bother, though - I assume because they're not aware of the conflict. Maybe Goto just draws more "visibility" because he was writing about the Marines. That said, anyone remembers the long discussion about Marine height? Another topic where opinions are wide and varied, between GW and certain BL authors as well as between the fans.

There is very little consistency in the entire franchise when you look beyond the very basics (Emperor is "dead", Eldar have pointy ears, Orks are green, ...), and it seems to be entirely intentional that there are so many different, even conflicting ideas.

You just gotta find an author that caters to your own.

To be honest, I don't really see what's so bad about the whole multilaser thing. What's to stop an Astartes Chapter from using them if they want to? There's no reason for them to be refused.

Well, they require a big power source to work, like the ones they wear on their backpacks when they are using a Lascannon. Multilaser is actually worser than a boltgun, and it is more clumsy. It is basically just a lasgun on steroids. Theoretically, nothing would stop them from using them (even though they are dsigned for vehicles) but it would be like equipping modern day soldiers with crossbows.

Another highlight from Eldar Prophecy. Eldar Guardians try to block Warp Spiders ... and succeed

And no, 180 pages of torturing and maiming one female Eldar that already enters injured is not normal.
Fat drooling child molesting Slaanesh worshipping Eldar Farseers leading a craftworld is not normal.

Goto has no clue on GW background, doesn't care and just projects every filth and hate he can think of on Eldar, esp. female characters.

Also in Eldar Prophecy.. D-Cannons shooting warp energy, next shot a bullet, then remembering its warp energy and the third shot is back to warp energy.

Rape of a Farseer? In Eldar Prophecy, I must have missed that. The book was reallllllllyyyyy bad so I may have missed it. With the new Eldar books out there is no reason to ever consider Eldar Prophecy as worth while.
