Every time you hear about GW protecting the purity of brand identity and making some issue over the fluff - remember that written by C S Goto. They obviously don't give much of a damn if this got published.

It will have been read by an editor who should have directed Goto to make changes, even simple ones rather than just accept what was written. Someone was happy to sign it off as a finished job. I can assure you that you wouldn't get such huge issues past other franchises with novel ranges which all contain their fair share of bad books but at least there's a semblance of continuity.

Reading these 3 made me laugh really hard. What books are these in? I've read the DoW omnibus so I know about the stupid crap that goes on in there especially the kasrkin that joins the Blood Ravens having tentacles for hands. LOL.

I quite enjoyed them...

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Big deal then?

Not really, but if you can miss back-flipping Terminators then there's something wrong.

Honestly didn't catch it...

It was one of the Blood Ravens books. Terminator Sergeant Angryface is having an EPIC shooting duel with a Dark Reaper Exarch--a Dark Reaper that is literally backflipping over his stormbolter rounds. Then the Dark Reaper starts shooting at the Terminator, and the Terminator starts backflipping under those shots, too.

Off-topic, but why would Andy Chambers be writing anything for GW? I'm sure he makes shed loads of money at his job at Blizzard, not to mention the mutual bad feelings after leaving GW. Have I missed something?

Because he's a writer at Blizzard, and writers don't exactly make bank. Besides, he probably still digs the universe, is likely still friends with some folks at GW, and work is work.

He currently seems to be "Creative Director", not a mere writer, and Blizz has a reputation of paying well, anyways. I'd wager it's more a lingering connection to a setting he helped to shape. At least I'm pretty sure Andy Chambers wrote some stuff for one of FFG's 40k RPGs a few months ago.

To be fair, rumours say that after the Goto debacle, BL introduced stricter control on what the authors write.

Which exact debacle? Was there one specific instance?

Yeah, pretty much every book Goto wrote was that one, specific instance.

"Dawn of War Tempest" plus the short story "Tears of Blood" are the worst I have read, but then again I didn't finish Eldar prophecy or read non-Eldar Goto books (you know, braying Tyranids and Necrons etc).
