Baneblade. It can dish out some nice firepower and the cannon can blow away anything on its way. Well, anything the tank doesn't feel like crushing under its threads. Also...

Look at it. Just look at it. It's so fething sexy.

I was thinking about the stormlord too but its turretless could that be a real disadvantage?

I'm going to have to go with the Baneblade as well. Not just because of its armor-killing/building leveling main cannon, but because of its secondary weapon systems, like the coaxial autocannon, twin-linked heavy bolters and pair of lascannons. It's a beast on track, excelling at both anti-armor and anti-infantry operations.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

If the tank's not well supported, I think so. You'd want to keep it flanked with smaller units anyway. Whichever one gets the vulcan mega bolter or whatever might be a good idea though. Sending out massive numbers of wounds is good in urban environments.

Going to throw the StormSword into the mix. Hellhammer cannon: 36' 10 ap1 Ordinance 10inch blast, no cover saves Cityfight might as well be named Coverfight. 2x Heavy Flamers 3x TL Heavy Bolters

Edit: sorry I didn't see your choices were limited, but I'll leave this one up for its badassness.

Im with Movac on this one, can you proxy it in?
If not Shadowsword, D weapons ignore cover too and with a 5" blast you'll hit something. Upgrade with some flamers and away you go.

Stormsword.

Hands down, it was even introduced in Imperial Armour Volume One as a Shadowsword retrofitted for urban combat. They did some very nasty, nasty things defending Cadia's cities(Kasrs) during the 13th Black Crusade.

We're talking fluff here, not rules. It doesn't matter if in the game crouching behind a bush may save you from a shell from a Baneblade cannon; in real life, everything hit by that thing is going down. That counts bushes, trenches, walls, buildings... And let's not forget the Demolisher cannon. Ever wondered why is it called that way?

EDIT: Just read the original post and as a, matter of fact, we ARE talking tabletop. HERP DERP.

But with the points it takes up it's not that bad. Also, Mantas are more than 10x that.

I would say the Malcador Defender would be the best for city fighting.

Having 5 heavy bolters, a Demolisher cannon and sponsons with the option of auutocannons/lascannons makes it quite effective in city fights

Storm Lord, it can protect your troops while unleashing that buffed double shots.

Not to mention tons of heavy flamer for those hiding in buildings

Why not simply use a Hellhammer? Same gun, but mounted on a turret, has a co-ax autocannon (and therefore is more accurate), and has a demolisher cannon. Only disadvantage is that it's 50pts more expensive.

How about a CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT?

If you can actually squeeze your superheavy into one of the streets, the one thing you don't want is a tank that can't even turn its turret.
But maybe this is irrelevant, because the tank is melta-bait anyway.

CRASSUS ARMOU-no. Not today.

But really, the Stormsword. It's built entirely for urban warfare.

Inboud...

Have to agree with the calls for a Stormsword. The big gun will do some very nasty damage, and the flamers + heavy bolters will prevent infantry getting too close.

They also look badass in Urban Camo:
