I've finished my first test piece. I'm i'm trying to push my skill set rather then just churning out large quantities of models (been there done that). I think this Necron is way better then my Dark Eldar or Grey Knights.

The OSL needs work, but it's my first real go at it in years. I hope to refine the technique a little more before I start on HQs or vehicles.

Nice work. The osl looks fine to me. A lot of people go overboard and have the glow take over half the model, like they're being beamed with a flashlight, but you got it down pretty good.

Fabulous. The OSL is great up to the end of the Gun then It gets a tad to bright and sloppy.

The eyes are the best I've ever seen.

That OSL is fantastic - just the right amount of glow and the colour is spot-on. If you're doing more and you have the time, would you mind snapping the pics for a step-by-step? I'd love to see how it was done.

Everything is in contrast.

If someone of lesser skill were to paint his necron golden, red and blue, everyone would be offended - and rightfully so.
You achieve, what I oneday strive to do: Mech primary colours that (almost) contradict each other.

The dark red armourplates, the golden bodystructure and the OSL work in perfect harmony.

In your initial post you said that the OSL needs work still. Ths is wrong. If you continue blending it into the surrounding area you will dillute the stark contrast, thus harming the effect.

On the other hand, making the OSL any brighter through use of extreme whites would make it to poppy, distracting from the red.

Keep it as it is you must, destroy the great effect otherwise you will, Master Gareth.

This is 100% awesome for all reasons stated above. The highlighting on the non-OSL stuff is just crisp and beautiful, and the OSL pops but is tasteful. A+
