I will be one of the few that will be purchasing Diablo 3 collectors because I have been waiting a long time for a sequel. Plus I am devoted fan of Blizzard. except for Wow. Wow can be destroyed for all i care.

Too tell the truth I am incredibly shallow and I really don't like the art direction for Warcraft 3, Diablo 3, or WoW. Starcraft 2 looked alright in my opinion, but I don't like the idea of paying 60 bucks for a campaign each time they release a campaign(next is Zerg I think).

Diablo 2 was a fun romp through the plains of hell and I really enjoyed it. I know that it doesn't seem like a good reason to some people, but I just don't like the art of the game and its enough to ruin it for me.

You know that the art is kinda of the same thing as diablo 2s? Its darker now. Alot less humor which I like. It suppose to be gothic.

Wow, totally called this after I beat diablo 2. I bet I still have the copy of the email I sent to blizzard asking about him.

Also people, there was another lesser evil called Azmodan that was never killed off.

Edit - Whoops, not Azmodan, it was Belial.

What I'm curious about is how they will justify them being at all powerful. The three prime evils partied up and smacked around the rest and rose to dominance. That was 3 against 4, so now you get to fight the guys who got their butts whooped. Yes, they are still pretty powerful creatures, but compared to the prime evils they're pretty minor.

Also, I need to find my old diablo 1 manual, but I'm pretty sure it said there were ONLY 4 lesser evils, now it says there are only 4 KNOWN lesser evils. So now the lesser evils are now even weaker than they were before because there were more than 4 to oppose the 3.

If you count Lilith theres 5. Or Diablo's pet shapeshifter, the moonspider. That would be 6.
There are very powerful daemons out there. But Andariel was considered one. So thats 7. 7 vs the 3. Lilith was then imprisoned then killed. Andariel dead.
So there could of been more.

And the daemons got stronger because there is so much more power from souls they are getting. Souls grant daemons power so its no surprise. But the only problem i have with this game is that the monk looks like a fail class to me. I want the templar as playable character, not a follower.

Ah right, I was thinking 7 but I wasn't sure if it was including the prime evils or not (so sue me, it's been AGES since I read through that book).

Yeah, not a big fan of the class design direction. Guess I need to stop being stuck in the past and embrace the future. Whatever the case I'll always wish I had a necromancer instead of the meth head witch doctor.

Hey the wizard, Demon Hunter and the Barbarian are awesome!
Those three are awesome. Plus i like the wizard because he's default spell is magic missile...
But anyway. I so want to play the newest version with my friends.

Only problem i have is you can't play offline and save your stats. I dislike that but i see it as necessary. I don't want anymore hacked items or accounts like Diablo 2.
Lvl 60 max is fine.

Hell i am fine with everything they are doing except the monk, and the stupid witch doctor. I hate that class. They are the worst ideas. I know they need to represent every part of humanity. but next time please pick a different culture to represent that has some more powerful magics that look cooler. AT least in the expansion pack have some cooler classes that look awesome.

Also the lore is fantastic, i don't know if there are 7 lesser evils. I think it should be.

Sorry http://diablo.wikia.com/wiki/Lesser_Evils there are 4.

Agreed on the Demon Hunter, although I wish they had some melee abilities (I've yet to hear of any). The barbarian and Wizard are just kind of boring, we already had those in D2, why not have a Crusader and Arcane Trickster, or anything else just fresh and new. We have to lose the necro, so why can't we lose the ever standard boredbarian.

The original book had 7 lesser evils and 3 prime evils. It would appear they've fiddled with the fluff.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

The Wizard looks stupid to me although I am not in on the beta. Where's the chain lightning? I thought this was Diablo.

boredbarian is a nice way to put it. Whirlwind is back, that's a relief.

Also, I've done some looking into things, but I haven't very recently. Is it true that high level characters will be pretty similar if they of the same class? I don't recall the specifics but I'm pretty sure I remember reading about how they killed customization to an extent.

no you can only go with a certain amount of abilities.

And cheesecat. no she won't.

By the way she is the daughter of the Warrior from diablo and she is Caine's Niece. And apparently The warrior got all sexy with Adria the Witch. Plus i think she did it was just a vision.

Lol, I loves me a good cinematic. I still think the best vidya game cgi I've ever experienced was the Dawn of War one. When I first saw that, man I got pumped. After diving into the fluff and tabletop, the video is now odd, but it's no less cool than it was the day i saw it.

Cept diablo 3 isn't as dark or "gothic" as you would think. Diablo 3's graphics are very, VERY soft looking and doesn't have quite the grit the first two games did

I mean, the butchers room in diablo 1 was down right disturbing...

Now look at diablo 3 (these pics support MY OPINION perfectly)...

I don't think so. I think it's more to do with the colors than the brightness. Hopefully the modding community might make something to fix the issues. I know they've done similar things to WoW.

Honestly all the second images just look lie they lowered the brightness options on the game I don't see why the mod would be necessary.

You can't see sharpness from the way blizzard has it to the "touched up" screens that other people posted? Blizzard's new art direction is a lot softer around the edges and with very little dark grit gothic feeling that they once had. Look at the stones on the first picture, the touched up pics, the bricks are a lot sharper , likewise the outdoor shot , the touched up the grass is a lot sharper and clear vs the blended/meshed grass from the blizzard product.

I had another screen shot that I cant find at the moment that showed the fire effects and how they are and a touched up one that made it look WAY nicer... i'll see if I can dig it up.

edit:

here it is

VASTLY different, it's not just "lowering the brightness"

... Now I'm just beating a dead horse

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

Nots so sure that was some kind of masterstroke in gothic design over what they had to work with in the graphics department when they released Diablo 1, but who knows.

The Butcher room, was pretty nasty though, I have to wonder with the tendancy of the over-reaction of the current media, would a fully rendered revist of the Butchers lair actually be a good idea with the graphics Diablo 3 can muster.

I'd not be bothered, but I could see where someone would suggest maybe too dark, tone it back.

Hell look at GW, compare fluff and art to stuff we where seeing twenty years ago. Folks have toned things down, nobody wants to aim for the higher age rating brackets anymore, too much money lost if you don't aim for teen, or lower in GW's case.

Not saying I agree with it, generally I really can't stand it, but it seems a pointless thing to be worrying about, the industry has changed alot since Diablo 1. I do like the doctored pics mind, although saying that, I don't mind how Diablo 3 looks either.
