I intend to use the Necrotech and Scrap Thralls in both lists, but I'm only gonna buy them once.

Later I'll bump these two lists to 50pts, finish up my Cygnar (two 50 point lists) get my Dystopian Wars Prussians up to 1500pts and get a 1500pt Covenant of Antarctica fleet, but the Cryx armies are my current priority. I'm estimating another $130 or so to get both Cryx armies up to 50, about $500 (including what I've already got) to get two 50 point Cygnar armies, and $350 total for both Dystopian Wars fleets.... so six sizable, functional armies for a total of... ~$1400, which now has me feeling very self conscious about the amount of money I spend on little metal/plastic dudesmen/robots.

There's a good chance these lists will change as I figure out what works and what doesn't.

And this isn't including my modest collection of CAVs, 'Mechs, Aberrant and Black Orc Games miniatures, and my less-modest collection of GW minis. Don't really plan on using or expanding these collections any time in the near future.

My current project: Freebooter's Fate Imperials - so far it's run me about $56, for 7 figs.

My last project: Ogre Kingdom army - that was about 2 years worth of effort, and about $450 all together (and that was with getting some killer deals on Ebay, and buying from the UK). For about ~30ish Ogres and 50ish Gnoblars.

Man I have been on that journey.......although I got my money in a slightly different way - I got sick on holiday and didnt spend any of my money....come back to UK and blew it all on Elysians. :-)

Cost of my current armies...ugh, it makes me sad to think about it. Do you mean in today's prices, or the prices when we got them? The price of my Guard army has doubled from when I first bought it, I think, as I made good use of the 20 man $35 boxes back in 2008.

Nice! I'm hoping I get a bunch of money the military owes me from being posted away on training from my home unit to fund the army. They're just so pretty...and would be a blast to play using the IA:8 list.

NOW, I didn't get all of this at full retail! The Tyranids were purchased at auction for about $80 total (I'm aggressive when I bid and apparently scared a few folks into submission), the Chaos for about $150 (the infantry, bikes, and Dreadnought were given to me for $20, because they were covered in about an inch of enamel paint and hot glue), and the Marines were pieced together out of scraps over four years. I'd say I spent about $400 at most on them. I'd say I spent about a grand on my Warhammer, total; I'm lucky and patient, having acquired this over years after building up the reputation as the guy who takes your used, beat up, and old minis for cheap.

Still, realizing that you're sitting on about $5000 USD of plastic soldiers is kinda depressing...

Just so you know the IoB seaguard are far larger then the normal boxes of spearmen/seaguard they really look horrible togher

The seaguard I referred to were the $41 for 5 (AUD pricing is insane) set. NOT the IoB plastic ones afaik.
I've only seen the misshapen blobs in grey - if they are indeed the same figs (just painted) in the box of 5, then so be it.

I'm playing ONE WHFB army at club level.
Mantic was a cheap way to do it (EVEN cheaper than using IoB).
I don't care for any of the IoB models, and requirement to only use GW models does not exist in my club.
