So my my oldest brother and I met up at the gun range with some of his buddies, and we spent most the morning just shooting the hell out of things. Got to shoot my brothers brand new Bushmaster ACR rifle, Ive got to say, it was pricey but damn its an incredibly nice rifle. AND for the first time ever, I shot an Ak-47, that was a blast to shoot. So there was 5 of us, and during our little contest, I ranked 4th Not bad though, considering I really only shoot shotgun/pistol, and infact today was the first time Ive ever fired a rifle in my life. And best of all, I beat out my brother

Worst part, we went to a military surplus/gunshop after wards, and I saw a pretty cheap, pretty nice looking .38 revolver that I might just slip away and buy from them when I get my taxes next month

You know if your brother had any problems with his ACR? Has he ran any of the steel cased stuff through it yet?

Well he bought it 2 weeks ago, and today was the first time we took it out for a spin. He just bought some cheapies, 50 rounds went down range with no problems what so ever. And its damn accurate one dialed in.

A couple months back me and some friends went shooting. None of us are exactly experts at shooting, so after shooting a few times, moving forward and trying again, we eventually decided to stand 10 feet away from a target on a dirt mound and just unload with sks, ppk, 12 guage, .22, and 9mm rounds. We finally got that damn can.

Thats awesome, nothing like point blank range ya Im no expert and honestly dont get to shoot nearly as much as Id like, but Im not a bad shot. With some more practice I could be a pretty good shot. Like I said out of 5 guys, I ranked 4, better then my brother (who is a marine ) and 2 of the others are pretty seasoned, ones a pretend cowboy (comps and such) and the other is training to be a police officer. So Id say I did pretty well, funny enough the guy that won, doesnt own a fire arm and pretty much NEVER shoots

It's just worth keeping in mind I'm a day and half from CMP south which is a shame. They publish prices online, the Store just let's you get hands on first. A lot of folks aren't aware of them, I just try to spread the Good News.

I got Son2 a really nice Mosin Nagant for Christmas. We have an area on our property where we can shoot so when my folks were visiting right after Christmas we took it out and a few of the other bang sticks we have and shot a bunch. It was fun watching my Dad teach principles of marksmanship to Son2 the same way he taught me. (of course Son2 already has had the lessons and is a pretty good shot)

Excllent. We carted out a pumpkin and abunch of jugs of colored water. Genghis Connie and She Who Must Be Obeyed had a blast blowing those suckers up.

I went to the shooting range on Friday, fired just over 100 rounds through my little gun. Took a buddy and walked him through his first time shooting a handgun. I feel pretty proficient with my gun, but I'm just trying to get in a little more practice before my CC class next month.

How do you shoot a gun with a barrel plug and no firing pin? ;-)

Good choice! (M44 or 91/30?)

A 91/30. It is a pretty nice one, all numbers/markings match and everything, and SUPER accurate. It put my little toy to shame (I have one of these for plinking: http://www.colt22rimfire.com/index.php?page=colt-m4-ops )

I think .22s are a fantastic caliber to just go out and shoot things for the sake of it. Super cheap, and usually really accurate. Ive gotta say though, my brothers ACR in 5.56 is really accurate once dialed in. Granted I dont have much experience in rifles at all, I have to say, the 2 I shot the other day, his had way less kick (practically none) and I seemed to group better with it as well. Then again, we are talking about a top of the line rifle versus a how ever old AK too, and last I checked AK's arnt really known for super accuracy

I have an HK91 for my 'real' toy, but it costs a ton to shoot now-a-days. That was why I invested in the cool little .22

We have other .22s, but this one is just plain fun.

You'll do fine. Its the laws that count for the permit.

.22s are a dream to shoot. Unfortunately, as of Saturday, Genghis Connie is no longer impressed with .22s and now prefers my 9mm. Sigh, this is what happened to my favorite pistol. Once She Who Must Be Obeyed takes a shine to one of my firearms thats it, its hers. And of course Genghis Connie is the apple of my eye so the Beretta is theirs. Oh well.
