It's been months since my father and I went to the shooting range... I should get him to go again sometime. I'm out of practice and it was nice to compete against eachother anyway. One of the few things both of us enjoy.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I say get out there and do it. The get together we had was really fun, but the most enjoyable part was the competition we had in the end. Im definitely going to do more of that, hell I might even see what the local scene has as far as competitions and such

I live in the country,so I can shoot whenever I want. I got a replica 1861 black powder revolver for christmas, and I've been firing the heck out of it, even though we have a safe full of other guns. Black powder is quite fun, though hard to clean.

So could we (my sister owns about ~25 acres out in the country where land is cheap IIRC ,though it could be far less than that), but a shooting range is something different, especially since we can rent a gun that better suits my hands at a shooting range unlike out in the country.

If you buy the gun that fits your hands you don't need to rent it.

I'm lucky, our last place was 100 acres and our current place is 11. I had and have a decent shooting lane on both so we can shoot whenever we want.

Surely a good quality gun, properly maintained, will last a lifetime.

If you shoot it much the cost of cartridges will soon outweigh the original purchase price.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

My brother the giant has a nice setup, like I mentioned before, so I can shoot there if I want. There is also a range down the street, but obviously I have to pay to shoot there. The best place, was where we shot last time, it was my first time going there. Its called the pit, and literally, its a friggin big ass, dug out of the side of a big ol hill, with concrete barries, PIT! Its owned by the state and setup to be a place to shoot firearms, best of all its free! Problem is, its a good 30-40 minute drive from me, so thats going to be a "take the rifles" kindda place.

But yea, Ive had the idea of joining some local shooting groups floating in my head after that. Ive shot for years, but its always just been my brothers and thats it, shooting a few paint cans and so on, but a competition... now that was exciting

Yeah and if I bought the united states I could change the laws to suit whatever my whimsy be, but that isn't gonna happen any time soon either.

Well.......just sayin, the USA costs a little more then a handgun.I think thats a bit more obtainable then buying the whole country. And if you were, Id suggest leaving Michigan out of your purchase agreement, its a pretty gak hole state anymore, with little chance of seeing daylight again

There's a break down on 6mmbr.com IIRC that an expensive custom rifle will cost less than ammo and replacement barrels over the course of 3 years. So yes an avid shooter will outcost a weapon in ammunition shortly and a not so avid shooter in a few years. But a firearm will not necessarily last a life time, handguns especially wear out.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

Ah, Dakka. Such a wonderous place. I can now come here to discuss the warhams and shooting!

I tend to gravitate towards long-distance shooting, the 400+ yard variety. Although, all those tactical rifle and handgun drills are always fun to do. Me and a very close friend (with a LOT of land) are in the thinking stages of a live fire course out on his massive expanse of Kansas real estate.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.
