What are some of Dakka's favourite "unusual" band's? I happen to like Gogol Bordello.

Lets hear some of your non-mainstream musical tastes.

I find listening to "bands" is too mainstream, I listen to the raw noise of the ether.

My post was laced with enough sarcasm to kill twelve upperclass englishmen, dubstep is about as mainstream as you get.

I didn't insult it, I just pointed out this is a thread for "unusual" music so posting extremely usual music kind of defeats the point.

This is not that unsual here in Scandinavia, and to some extent europe. But to you Americans and so forth, it might be intriquing (spelling?).

Anyways, it's a very good band, especially live.

Heres a live one, as I know gas-masks are favored amongst the Dakkaites.

I would call this unusual, because if this is what you usually listen to, then you live in a truly terrible place and require immediate rescue.

Trivia fact, their motto is "We wouldn't know which end of a violin to blow on."

In other words, Dubstep.

I like this band. Its a death n roll band. I think its unusual. Others will probably hate it though.

Was wondering when they'd sell out and go mainstream.

The spoken word mixes with the music very well. Definitely recommend it, not something you hear every day.

Behind you

dubstep is about as mainstream as you can get. Its fecking silly.

And YOU, do not insult epic score by playing dubstep over the top of it. Epic score has Dignity, and a legend to uphold. *huh*

Unusual music I listen to. The avelanches should count.

I listen to quite alot of odd stuff, I'll see if I can find some... Until then - I heard this ages ago but I haven't been able to find anything else by this band, which is a shame really because this is possibly one of the greatest cover songs ever...

I'll probably be back and post more random songs....

I'm a big Kaizers Orchestra fan (I own all their albums)... and I've never been to Europe... just throwing it out there....

How about Jethro Tull? They have a flute... >.>

I love Jethro Tull... They're awesome... I'm lucky enough to be going to see Ian Anderson live in a month or so, that should be rather good...

I got told off by my parents for doing his hopping flute playing thing once.

Admittedly it was outside a tent at the cambridge folk festival, where people take jethro tull a tad more seriously than most.
