What are some of the weirdest odd occurrences you've ever seen? I'm talking like Genestealers attacking a non-blob IG Infantry squad and losing combat. Weird die rolls that just should not have happened resulting in crazy things.

The reason I ask is because we had an act of god on the table today. It wasn't so much a weird roll result as a weird roll. Observe:

I remeber I had one miner that was charged by a vamps army general, he had to hit on 3's, got a reroll, wound on 2's and got a reroll on that, he then missed half of his attacks and did not wound with the left over hits. I then attacked with my one miner (I had to hit on a 5 and wound on a 4 while he got 3+ rerollable and then I rolled a 5 and wounded on a 4 he then failed his saved with one wound remaining...

HA!

What happened to me one game (that ultimately cost me the game) was a complete round of lucky saves. A squad of Kommandos, protected by Grotsnik and cybork bodies came off the side board edge and charged into two squads of Ork boyz. He took out a chunk, but it would've wound up being pretty even if I could do some wounds back. I manage about 18 or so wounds total, so I think "Great! This will turn out even and I can just attrition them down!"

He winds up passing all but 1 save, losing a single Kommando in the process. The roll for FNP was just insane - literally 12 out of 13 dice were 4 or higher. It eventually cost me the game, because the Kommandos then charged into my Lootas and into my wounded last squad of boyz, wiping them out.

In front of my computer

A while back when I started 40K I was playing Tau against a friend's Space Marines:

A 5 man Terminator squad deep struck right in front of my lines and my commander killed one with his plasma rifle. I left him in front of them thinking that since he had an invulnerable save he would be able to tie them up in combat.

His terminators proceed to charge my commander and I attack first:

4 attacks

3 hits

3 wounds

3 ones for his armor saves!!!!

And then his last Terminator instant-killed my commander with his power fist...

But the look on my friend's face when he rolled those ones was worth every commander in the world!

My most recent game, my Thousand Sons against a mate's CSM. My daemon prince had taken out his dreadnought and assaulted his squad of Plague Marines. After a couple of rounds of combat, my prince only had one wound left (he failed every single 4++ the whole game, wtf) and he had three plague marines left, including champion with powerfist.

My prince attacked first - four attacks, four hits! I needed 3+ to wound the plague marines 'cause of their T5.

I rolled four twos.

*sigh*

on the forum. Obviously

I once had a game where six of my scarabs managed to charge a venom. The venom only moved 6" so it was 4+ to hit.
Now anyway, out of 30 attacks, only 8 hit. Only one of those 8 was a successful entropic effect. And my scarabs only managed to stun the damn thing.

I was once playing Chaos Space Marines against Tau. My Havocs, all armed with missile launchers, rolled nothing but 1's and 2's all battle and were eventually killed in close combat by pathfinders and Kroot. However, I won the game because it was a suit-heavy army and those irritating canned tunas were done in by my three squads of Khorne Berserkers, who chased them to the corner of the table (Jump/shoot/jump my ass...) and butchered them.

I had Arjac, who had just survived walking across the table by himself, kill 9 Crisis Suits and a Sky Ray Gunship.

And then he got shot by a lone Pathfinder and died.

In 4th edition I had a single squad of guardsmen charged by a unit of Typhus, 7 pleague marines, and I nurgle Deamon Prince in turn three.

Lost a single guardsmen and tarpited the entire unit the rest of the game. Awesome. The frustration brought by such amazing feats of heroism angers chaos players to no end. Hahahaha.

My Skink Chief on a Stegadon charged a Greater Demon. The Stegadon scored 2 wounds before being slaughtered but the Skink Chief managed to finish the job by succesfully landing all of his Poison Attacks and the demon failing all wards.
It was far more epic due to the size difference, my friends Greater Demon is a converted StoneHorn on its hind legs!

Played a game against my fiance's DE with my Eldar. I was rolling very well with Howling Banshee saves, so when my striking scorpions came on the board, I wasn't too worried. First round of combat, I took 4 wounds and rolled 4 one's for scorpion armor saves. I was kinda bummed, but hey, it happens. Next time I played, about a week later, I was playing someone else's DE army and took striking scorpions again. First round of combat, I took 5 wounds and rolled...4 ones for armor saves. Maybe it's just time to play with my Necrons for a while...

I just had a one-wound GK Librarian and 2 Purifiers attacking a one-wound Crowe.

My GK Librarian casts Hammerhand - box cars, fails his save, dies.

My Purifiers cast Hammerhand - snake eyes, the Keeper of the flamer dies. The last guy misses all his attacks, and Crowe manages to put down the last Purifier.

The ones I always tell:

- My opponent had (pretty much literally) half an Tau army open fire on my recently deep-struck Terminators. All thirty-two 2+ saves and eight 5++ saves passed. (One in 2,242,693 and some assorted decimal places)
They then get charged by Aun'shi... who rolls all five hit dice as 6s, auto-wounding due to his Blade-Master ability. All five 5++ saves fail, no more Terminator squad. (One in 59,049.)

- Probably less of a statistical long-shot, but the better way around in that it went from awful to awesome: I had a Striking Scorpion Exarch whose entire squad fluffed their armour saves in a one shooting phase. He then proceeded on a lone charge the whole way across the board, passing every armour save that was thrown his way, and single-handedly massacred the Space Marine squads responsible. He did eventually go down, but only because my opponent finally committed a Chaplain to the combat to stop me constantly passing the armour saves. Even so, the Exarch very nearly took the Chaplain down with him!

- One you guys won't get quite so well, but there was one game of Inquisitor where between myself and the other player about seven or so natural 100s on a D100 came up (which is a bad roll, you want to roll below the necessary percentage in Inquisitor) in the course of not much more than an hour.

It's not half as amusing, or even as unlikely, as most of these, but the first time I ever rolled the sustained fire dice, they came up with a triple jam, causing my assault cannon-wielding Terminator to explode.

For some months after, I detested second edition, and constantly suggested we revert to Rogue Trader's rules.

I had a Broodlord charge my Heroic Senior Officer (HSO), hit with four attacks and wound with three, no armor saves. Had to fall back on the HSO's refactor field...

5,5,6

Saved all three, so the HSO swings back, three hits. He has just a power weapon, so sixes to wound...

All three wound! And the broodlord had no invulnerable saves!

Necrons with 2 monliths, SM with a vindicator and a plasma cannon. Lots of big boobahs, plenty of chances to scatter you would think.

Not one missed the whole game. I think it was 10 blasts in total.

I couldnt believe it.

I remember two Firewarriors taking down a Necron Lord before. Ah the joy on my friends face as I put down his HQ :-D

Plenty of times my Broadsides fail to do anything the whole game only for some wild Gundrones to get back armour shots on tanks and destroy them. Took down a Chapter Master with a gun drone the other day too. One wound left - and he rolled two 1's :-D ha!

I once charged astroth the grim with a squad of nobz with a warboss.Astroth killed a few and then the nobz struck.now with one wound remaining I was excepting him to die.So by the time all the nobz and the boss struck he had to make 17 invulnerable saves.By now i was already wondering where to consolidate to.My friend rolled the dice and off course he made every frakking one.And then he ran down the nobz.
This was also a three way game and when my other friend shot at Astroth with a squad of scouts and he failed the only armour save he had to makeI have to say that really made of laugh.

A group of termi's failing four out of five 2+ saves. That was fun to watch. Also seen a blob of guardsmen pump out 80 shots into a tactical squad and not one was wounded.

In the first or second turn of a Combat Patrol game, I failed 7 of 9 Dangerous Terrain rolls.

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

One game I had the win if I could wipe away about 6 models marines in PA off an objective so it wouldn't be contested....I had about 3 times as much firepower as I needed to do the job (or so I thought) thoroughly. Between my missing, failing to wound, and saves on my opponents part I lost that game. Apparently I needed 4x firepower. I was ridiculous to watch, all in good fun losing to a friend of mine.

Also I've got this extremely lucky land raider that only gets destroyed about one in six games. We've got a motto for it. "The metal coffin knows no fear."

And my gaming circle doesn't believe in the points effectiveness of a Predator Annihilator (TL LC, 2xLC) that I like to play. I just deploy it on a hill or something with a good LoS and shoot. This one's a lucky roller I swear. On paper I'd have to agree that there are better spends for the points. But damn that Predator has more than earned its paintjob.

Oh and I always, always deepstrike something right off the table. Never fails.

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

Warp Storm over Illinois

I was playing a game against Codex Marines as a Khorne themed CSM. I assaulted his Sternguard who I killed 9 out of 10 and his Chapter Master with a Powerfist (Note the Powerfist) in the first phase, leaving one alive. Durring his turn he assault a group of 10 tac Marines, and 4 terminators with power fists/storm bolters into my berzerker squads. They killed most of my berzerkers except my Skull Champion. He proceeded to kill all of the terminators in two rounds, the last Stern Guard, and 9 out of 10 tactical Marines. At the end of the game he was left in combat with one marine and quite the kill tally. He became known as MVP Skull Champion from that point forward in my games.

I have 2 examples.

One was I was able to inflict 9 wounds from my Dreadknight into a unit of 5 Long Fangs, every single armour save was a 1 or a 2.

The other is when a full unit of khorne berserkers killed off my Purifiers, all that was left was the Skull Champion with PF. The next turn the SC assaulted the purifiers razorback, hit, pen, explode. Too bad he wounded himself and failed the save.
