Be it about the background, or the way they look, which Space Marine Chapter is the best for you?

Mine has to be the White Scars , they're made of utter badassary and look cool as Hell when done right. Although the Space Wolves and Blood Angels look utterly brutal.

Worst has to be the Ultramarines, they're so dull and the codex features them so heavily.

Mine favorite chapter is the Flesh Tearers, the fluff is great, paint scheme is simple but brutal looking, and Gabriel Seth is awesome. Least favorite has to be Space Wolves.

Favorite: Ultramines, because they're awesome without having some contrived flaw. Plus, they've got an awesome color scheme.

Least Favorite: Space Wolves, because they're stupidly arrogant and I hate the fact that they can attack Imperial forces and get away with it.

I loved Gabriel Seth, looked terrifying. Was thinking of converting him into my White Scars army before remembering I can't convert anything more than a bigger gun...

Salamanders. The rules and the look of them is great. Mine are painted played as close to blood angels as you can get without being blood angels.

Least favorite: Ultra marines. Really the only codex chapter that has named characters at each slot and too many to count of the top of my head. Other chapters just get one each, and that is all.

Favorite: Black Templars. What do you mean the great crusade ended, that chapters aren't supposed to be legions, and to now look forward to having a homeplanet or to even worry about is the thing to do?

Least favorite: Dark Angels. Multiple personality disorder.

I am a tie between Grey Knights because they are shiny and Salamanders because they have humanity.

Least fave: Space Wolves, hairy hippies.

Favorite is the Crimson Fists. I like the Salamanders a whole bunch, but the Fists are my fave. There's an old 40k advert in the men's room at my games store, that's been there for years. I don't know if it's just sixteen years of staring at a heroic last stand while cradling my junk, but there's something about the Crimson Fists that feels all manly and cool. They've got a sweet color scheme, and pretty rockin background material.

Least favorite? Ooh, tough one. I like the background for the Space Wolves, just not their appearance (specifically their color). I guess I'll go with Black Templars. They just don't really do it for me. I get where their background is supposed to take inspiration from, and it's an awesome source of creative material. It just seems like the Templars missed the mark to me.

Favorite: Ooh, this is hard. The Crimson Fists have good fluff and some nice art, but the Space Sharks are friggin Space Sharks. So it's a tie between those two.

Least Favorite: Tie between Ultramarines and Space Wolves.

That is quite possibly one of the funniest things I have ever read, mind if I "sig" it ?

Favourite chapter: Blood angels, because of the colour scheme and the ideas behind them.

Least favourite chapter: Ultramarines, because of what Ward did. NOT EVERY CHAPTER WANTS TO MAKE LOVE TO YOUR FAVOURITE CHAPTER WARD. Accept that. Colour scheme is good though.

This is a signature. It contains words of an important or meaningful nature.

Favourite: the Minotaurs. Grimdark without being clichéd.

Least favourite: Space Wolves. Horribly clichéd. Also, better troops are meant to cost more points, Phil, not fewer

Fav - Black Templars. It's where I got my start with Marines, I liked the old rules, I liked the background, I like the chains, and whips..wait no whips? I like the chains and crosses (It's Triple H as a Marine)

Dislike - While I do not like the Battlesmurfs I do not dislike them, the chapter I dislike would be the Space Wolves. I am an old Thousand Sons player, and while I never liked the whole Vikings in Space thing, I liked even less the ton of bandwagon fans, and I dislike what they did to the Thousand Sons.

Favorites? Well, I finally broke down and chose 2 SM chapters to play: one out of the codex, one out of an offshoot-Crimson Fists and Black Templar. Black Templar I love for the look, and the crazy religiousness, Crimson Fists I like the paint scheme, plus my first image of 40K ever was the Crimson Fists last stand on a Citadel Miniatures catalog, way back with 2nd edition Necron models inside!! I also like the 'down but not out' attitude of the Fists.

Hated SM chapter? Well, I just got done listening to the Thousand Sons audiobook. Leman Russ and his pack of mongrelheads can go themselves. Weirdmake and Arnie Scarson Scarsonson (dumbest name ever created-I wanted to punch a baby every time his name came up) can rot in the deepest pits of hell that have ever been created. Total douchebags to the max. And Leman Russ himself wasn't much better. I don't blame Lion El'Johnson for knocking him out in DA fluff. Should have killed the fleabitten arse.

Favorite: Ultramarines. I have been around the hobby for longer than I have not been (10 years to 8 years) and I still think they are as awesome as the first time I read about them. Roboute is just an awesome Primarch. And their colors are terrific.

Least Favorite is the Space Wolves. Hate them for Propero Burns and what they did to one of my favorite Legions and Primarchs, Magnus and the Thousand Sons. Hate their color scheme. Hate the fact they are vikings.

Love the name hrolfgar though.

Thousand Sons Battleship wandering the galaxy...

Favorite: Blood Ravens and Dark Angels. Why? Mysterious pasts, forbidden knowledge, a history that could potentially get them declared excommunicate traitoris, Quest for Knowledge/Quest for Redemption, and a lot more.

Least liked: Space Wolves. Why? Those idiots couldn't even think to question Horus' orders to destroy Magnus and the Thousand Sons when the Emperor's orders were to bring them in to Terra for investigation. And they're so self-righteous it's sickening - "We're the sons of Russ and were so good we don't need to follow the Codex Astartes" and crap like that.

Black Templars are also self-righteous. Simply because they don't like your Chapter's traditions they'd accuse you of heresy and such...the Blood Ravens have worked with the Imquisition many times, so they don't have the right to question our Chapter's integrity.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.'

A lot of hate for the Space Wolves, I agree that Prospero Burns was a total dick-move.
I really like the Viking theme though, makes them look really savage to me.

I would've counted the Grey Knights for me too, but I assumed they didn't count as part of the Astartes. Might be cheating to assume that the Thousand Sons were still Astartes, but reading http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/The_Death_of_The_Emperor_-_A_Continuation_of_the_40K_Universe_by_Dark_Lord_Seanron#A_Son%27s_Reckoning_-_The_Renewal_of_Magnus renewed my love for the Thousand Sons. I can imagine this is what Magnus would do.

The Dark Angels are a very very lame and boring chapter in game and lore wise.

The only thing they had going for a while was Deathwing, but now that almost every SM Chapter can run Termy armies they don't even have that.

Even their models are weak.
