Hello my name is John and i have been a follower of DakkaDakka for as long as i can remember, though i have never had the guts to post before. The reason i am here today is to let you guys know about my new little web site and the game we are developing attached too it. The link is here: www.Trench2114.com or just click on the WWW link at the bottom of the page.

Right now the site is still new, but we will have photos of our first few sculpts up soon i hope! The game itself is a combination of post modern/ sci fi with a historical feel to it. As you can see in the game title the time is 2114, two hundred years since the first World War and more importantly in game terms 42 years since World War 3. many of the worlds original powers have either been whiped out or mutated into what we call "Neo Nations". The game falls under futuristic but has a very Great War vibe to it in many of the factions and units as you can see by some of the early sketches we have up on the site.

We currently have a sculptor working on our first light infantry unit The Chasseurs, as well as a heavy infantry unit called Panzer Troops. Once we have some sculpt pics and some of the color artwork we are expecting next week we may put the game up on Kickstarter as we are a very small and humble company and would need the resources if we want to put out the four inital box sets of our first two factions. The plan is to give each a LIght and Heavy infantry box set along with a Company Commander miniature for each, if we make it that far as we hope we will add Cavalry and the next two factions. The game itself is ment to be played at a platoon level but can accomodate a full company if needed, hence the inclusion of Company Commanders.

In early April we should have the basic rules and fluff up on the site as a free PDF to download so people can try the rules out, or laugh at them! Before any of the actual miniatures are released, or use any comperable miniatures you already have!

If interested check out our site from time to time for updates, we try to be pretty regular about giving out info, and if where fortunate enough to get up on Kickstarter in the coming month we would appreciate your help. Dont worry we will have some good and substantial rewards for you if we go that route.

Thanks for your time guys, i hope this didnt hurt your eyes to much!

Being an amatuer historian of the first world war and an avid gamer I really like the look of this :-) your doing good so far but I do wanna ask a couple of questions

is the consulate side representing both britain and france or is it just france?

What are the backgrounds for the remaining nations? (i guess that they represent the russian and japanese empires)

Will any other nations be added overtime (an arab empire like Turkey at the time)?

Hello and thanks for the question.

First in a way the British Empire are much like a smaller version of the FSA, in that their nation was so badly devastated that their military complex has resorted to mercenary work for the Consulate. So at first the will be an ally choice for the Consulate and the FSA, with the ability to be used as stand alone ofcourse if just playing a single platoon level battle. They will eventually recieve more though.

The FSA is the remnants of the American States in an uneasy truce.
The Conglomorate is the slowly rebuilding Russian Empire
Sosei Tech is the Japanese Empires new incarnation as a mega corporation who saved the countries populace after the war, by relocating them to safer ground.
Scavengers are just random militias banded together by the harsh times, can be found in any countries populace, thats what makes them so deadly

We would love to do more , but that would be based on how the initial product holds up.

Those concept sketches are gorgeous. If your models come out anything like those, you'll certainly be selling a lot of them!

Thanks. Yeah we are fortunate to have access to a wonderful artist. We will be very happy if our sculptors can get close to the original artwork. We should have color artwork up next week of the Consulate great war looking battle suits. Hence the name Renault HA-1's . Thanks .

Im really interested in an expanded background of the FSA. I've always wondered how America would operate if split down to an independant states level.

We should have the rules up as a PDF next week. We will be expanding the fluff section on each of the factions to a separate page for each as we move forward with a sub page set aside for the allie units as well. Thanks

Just want to say: Me like very much!

Those concept sketches are very cool. To raise money you could start selling those as posters or perhaps add them as bonus items in the upcoming kickstarter.

Good luck!

In fairness we did notice after the sketch was done that the Iron Will light infantry had a resemblance to Bauhaus troops but we plan to make them look a little more like real German early war military than this by giving them a thicker trench coat which the warzone don't have and give them picklehaubs to go along with more sci fi like body armor and weapons, which is what we were going for. The other two sketches don't exist in warzone from what I've seen. No French troops last time I checked thanks

Turks are not Arabs.

Regardless, it'dbe cool to have a SciFi setting that isn't just WWI Germans, Russians, and Knights IN SPACE! A Middle-Eastern faction IN SPACE would be an interesting change. Infinity does it and it's one of the most popular factions.

Just wanted to let everyone know before this thread got to old! We have our Version 1.0 rules and initial two forcelists up on our website now as free PDF's. We hope people will try them out and let us know whats good and whats bad so we can tweak them if needed before they get put in a book all permenent and stuff! You will also find a cheat sheet PDF for the ranged combat rules as they are a bit lengthy in spots due to all the modifiers involved in shooting at targets across a violent, muddy smoke filled field. Any way, try them out if you like and give us a yell.

We expect to have some WIP photos of the Chasseurs Light infantry by the end of the week as well.

Thank you for your time guys!

Rising from the ashes of the world once greatest superpower, the Free States represent a loose coalition of the territories that where able to rebuild and carry on after the great nuclear fire. The actual number of independant territories is hard to count as many rise and fall within months of their creation. Each State is run from a secure below ground capitol city usually centrally located and often surrounded by dozens of small villages that rely on their capitols for protection. scavanger warbands are a constant problem like in many other parts of the world and being close to the States greatest city usually assures the defense forces will react quickly.

Though most City States have police forces for thier defense when it comes time for something larger they all can call on the same person for help. General Nathanial Frauck leads the Free States Global Defense Force, which for purposes is a glorified army of mercenaires. Though not the great world power of their forfathers, they have made up for this by experimenting in the world of chemical inhancements, in other words steroids! The result is enormous musclebound supersoldiers capable of great feats of athleticism on the battlefield, these Urban Enforces have been the bain of many a Scavenger Warlord in recent times, these platoon accompanied by autonomous ground vehicles or UGV's have helped leap the Free States back to the top of the heap in world power.
Ironically in the best traditions of times long past General Frauck has begun to enter the market of capitalism, by renting out platoons of his Urban Enforcers to factions relatively loyal to FSA ideals. Ironically this can at times bring FSA units into conflict with each other, to General Frauck and his FSA contributors this is worth the money gained!

I was hesitant to bring this up, but seeing as you took the previous criticisms so well, here's something I hope is helpful.

1) "Scavenger" should start with an upper case letter.
2) "mercenaries", not "mercenaires" .. unless mercenaires is a specific word used in your setting.
3) "forefathers", not "forfathers".
4) "enhancements", not "inhancements".
5) "bane", not "bain".
6) "these platoons", not "these platoon".

7)
"The result is enormous musclebound supersoldiers capable of great feats of athleticism on the battlefield, these Urban Enforces have been the bain of many a Scavenger Warlord in recent times, these platoon accompanied by autonomous ground vehicles or UGV's have helped leap the Free States back to the top of the heap in world power."

The above is a poorly flowing mega run on sentence. Perhaps the following?

"The result is an enormous musclebound supersoldier capable of great feats of athleticism on the battlefield. These Urban Enforcers have been the bane of many Scavenger Warlords in recent times. Often accompanied by Autonomous Ground Vehicles (UGV's)**, these platoons have helped the Free States leap back to the top of the heap in world power."

Also.. was the orginal unit meant to be an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) or was the acronym meant to be AGV? (Autonomous yada yada..)

Lastly, your last sentence starts with repeat usage of "Ironically"

Perhaps change...
"Ironically in the best traditions of times long past General Frauck has begun to enter the market of capitalism, by renting out platoons of his Urban Enforcers to factions relatively loyal to FSA ideals. Ironically this can at times bring FSA units into conflict with each other, to General Frauck and his FSA contributors this is worth the money gained!"

To something like..

"Ironically in the best traditions of times long past General Frauck has begun to enter the market of capitalism, by renting out platoons of his Urban Enforcers to factions relatively loyal to FSA ideals. Although this can at times bring FSA units into conflict with each other, General Frauck and his FSA contributors think this is worth the money gained!"

Please please pleeeease don't take this as a dis on anything you've done. Trust me, I understand getting sloppy during huge sessions of typing and writing. I'm really interested in your world, especially the FSA, and thought I might offer something to help your project look a little more finished.

Thanks for reading.

Not the french, but the german guy and that armored machine gunner on your front page looks like an imperial.

In any case I like the project, and considering I'm going to write for a living at some point in the future I'll give it a read and send you a proof'ed version.

I do have several things on my plate at the moment so it will be a day or two. In any case a pm inbound.

Yeah I know there is a lot of risk involved in sci fi gaming cuz there is so much out there. I decided to do this for two basic reasons I'm sure everybody here can relate to. 1.) I'm a huge history buff and I thought it might be cool to have a different take than some others, sure everyone has done it I just wanted to give my own little two cents on near future events, with hopefully some minis that at worst case can be used to give variety to your other games.2.) I'm doing this cuz I have always wanted to do a mini game, I'm not out to make money I just want say I tried to give people another option for having a good time, I really just want to help expand the genre and give people something cool to add to there collections. I dearly hope it works because I think people will really be fascinated the direction the next four factions go. If you want different just wait for our plans for Scavengers. With out going too over the top they have some weird troops, let alone Conglomorate slave legions and the use of unmanned combat vehicles. Anyway I appreciate everything you guys say, it helps me stay grounded and realistic about the whole thing! Again thanks.

P.S. yes we have early V1 rules and first two force lists available as free PDFs on our web site to try out. There for everyone, thanks. Oh I almost forgot, we're very small so we will be doing metal for a while but like I said I don't want to gouge anyone so the box sets will be very cheap by everyone else's standards, I promise.

Wouldn't be easier and cheaper to cast plastic models? I believe you can acquire quite a bit of plastic for a fairly low price. Well, according to those how-to-cast-your-own-model guides, anyway.
