Well in 2 months, I've managed to paint 2 models. Doesn't sound that great, but one was the Arachnarok Spider and the the other was a Forge World Tyranid Hierophant.

I finished the Hierophant today and am please to share it with you guys finally.

love the basing and the color scheme, but something seems a little flat to me. I guess I imagine 'nids being a bit more shiny due to all the slime and such. the yellow dots aren't working for me, either; no depth to them. beautiful shading and highlighting, though! all airbrush work?

Lovely! What's the base? 8mm MDF?

How did you tackle the reinforcing of the legs?

In the blog post in the link below I talk about how I strengthened the legs. This is the second Hierophant I own (did you see the group shot on the link in the first post?) the first hierophant had the same strengthening treatment and has shown no signs of warping in over 4 years.

Heres the link to how I solved it.

Thought that was what you did. What's that technique *called* anyway? I always refer to it as 'coring', because you're putting a metal core into the resin piece. I might have been taught it as that too, I dunno, it was years ago.

@Finecast lovers: This is pretty much what you have to do on Mangler Squigs.

What a shame that you have to cut up and reinforce such an expensive model.

Technically I guess it's just pinning. But I like the term coring. I think you may have coined a phrase there. I did do it over 4 years ago to my first hierophant, so it's nothing new chopping up a phant to reinforce the legs. Takes time, but it's worth it.

Aye, I was taught it to reinforce long resin aircraft fuselage pieces. Impressive work on the hierophant though, can't see the cuts at all.

It's not Behemoth. It's my own scheme. Hence the yellow spotting and purple blends.

I suspected as much, TBH, yours actually looks sooo much better. A bit easier on the eyes methinks.

OOOOOO, a new Hierophant. I feel sily now I still haven't painted mine and you've done two. That is a very good piece you have there. The black to purple graduation on the carapace has been well done and I think that there are subtle improvements in your painting ability when the two Hierophants are compared.

I like the differences you have done on it compared to your prievious Hierophant, even though I prefer the deeper red of the original, they both are different but still have unity as part of the same swarm. Set out there with the rest of your Gargantuan creatures it looks very good. Now all you need for your Gargantuan gribbly mob is a Barbed Hierodule.

Word failure. The red/black with purple highlights are simply wicked.
And the yellow dots, goddam.

Most petty and minor criticism is to add more to the base, like maybe a few gibbed Hormies or something to show the enemy shelling his area, missing him but killing his lesser brothers.

Apart from that, just EPIC m8.

awesome paint work, love the airbrushing on the armor plate and the subtle insect-like color markings, the yellow. lots of nice touches all over to make this a real eye catching piece.

ive assembled and painted one of these before and it is an epic task indeed.
