I am a confessing fan of the animated “Clone Wars” TV show. The 4th season was very much to my liking, especially the last episodes were IMO great. Enough to get me into repainting some more minis of the soft-plastic miniature mountain I have collected!

From left to right: Nightsister Sith Witch, Droid, Utapau Airborne Trooper and Scorch from the Republic Commandos - all from the Soft-plastic range by WotC

See an additional pic of Scorch and the Utapau Airborne Trooper:

Some more pics...

First some Droids, all from the dreaded Softplastic WotC Minis:

And all neatly together in a scenic shot taken on Tatooine...

(The idea to use a blurred backdrop is shamelessly stolen from the gorgeous Crooked Dice mini pictures!)

And a re-paint of one of my favourite Expanded Universe characters, Mara Jade:

All minis again from the WotC softplastic range. Mara's "bendy" Lightsaber was replaced with a small plastic rod.

So that kind of soft plastic can be repainted. Good to know. Were there Any SPeacial steps you had to take to do it effectively? Could you prime them? Any tips would be appreaciated as I have an AT-43 vehicle coming that I would like to repaint. Thanks.

Impressive, most impressive.

However, aye, what did you use to get the undercoat to stick, acrylic seemed to slide off when we tried something similar a year or so back?

Yes, truely would love to know the approach . Seem to recall the last time I tried to Prime a Soft plastic mini, it did'nt take to the model at all. Did you apply the paint direcetly on the models or did you Prime?

http://www.adpublishing.de/html/star_wars.html wrote: A lot of people have asked me how I repaint the minis. If I remove the prepaint etc. I am not stripping the paint entirely, on particular thick areas I am scratching the paint away and most of the time I remove the mold lines. Then a thourough rub with a paint thinner to remove all grease and stuff. After that a coat of matt varnish that my colours are better sticking. That's it.

They are cool.

Tali'Zorah: I appreciate what you're doing here, Shepard.
Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.
Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.

It is a serious weathering and repaint. The kit is labeled 1/72, but as usual flyers tend to get big, fits nicely IMO.

After so many WWII vehicles I needed a break again.
Time for two more Star Wars Minis, Count Dooku and a Sith Apprentice.

Count Dooku by Knight Models and Softplastic Droids - by WotC

This model is inspired by some of the Sith dresses used in the SW-TOR online game. The mini is an Infinty Reverend Moira, left arm is from a YuJing Zhanshi Hacker and the Lightsword is just a plastic rod.

Paintwise, I think these are brilliant.

Most of the models look okay too, but I have two gripes.

1. The stormtrooper helmets look IDIOTIC! They are completely disproportioned.

2. Count Dooku's lightsaber doesn't look like that.

I used to role play in the old West End Games version of Star Wars RPG. It was always a hassle trying to find minis that were a good representation. Back when everything was metal it was hard to convert too...
