Here's a little conversion/sculpt commission I done recently for a guy on another forum. He was made from a combination of carving stock Marine bits, plasticard, and Greenstuff, and was nice to work on some 28mm stuff again after doing a fair amount of large scale things lately. Comments, criticism, and abuse is positively encouraged. Oh, and bonus points for anyone that can spot where all the bits came from .

I hate you and your talent. But really I am just jealous as hell.
My ONLY gripe with it is, and it may just be the photos, I can't see a scabbard for the sword anywhere. Should he have one?
Otherwise paint that up! Right now! Go ahead. I'll wait.

He offered to paint it for me but I want a crack at it. Traded a lot of dudes for him so want to enjoy him. I will post a WIP of him though.

Fair call. I missed the commission part of the post. >.<
But for the love of the Emperor SOMEONE PAINT IT AND POST PICS. So yeah, definitely put up some WIP pics.
Curse this flimsy human willpower. The waiting could kill me.

He may be for my actual army but I want to paint him well. I will likely start on him right away (I know exactly how I am going to do most of him,) but I will take my time to do him right.

You have killed me Spectral. Murder in fact since it is clearly per-meditated by taking your time when you knew it would kill me. Now it is simply up to the courts to decide.
Spectral Dragon wrote:Behind the cape
Works for me! Though you could always make an acolyte with the scabbard if jerks like us keep asking about it. You could even name him Scabbard.
"Why would I give you a proper name minion? It's not like you are going to survive or have an actual career in the Inquisition. You are just here to carry my things. Know your place."
Then again he does have the authority to turn anyone INTO a scabbard should they keep asking. So I'm gonna drop it now.

I was thinking that he could just stab anyone with it should they get uppity, and get away with it, but I like the way your mind works and would like to subscribe to your news letter.
But you made me think of that Cherub model that lugs around a Bolter for some reason. Never was a fan of the Bolter part, so this has given me ideas.
Sword carrying cyber-babies. GRIM certainly, but not quite GRIMDARK. Sword carrying cyber-babies, that weep blood. Oh yeah. Now we are getting somewhere.

"Keep talking knave. I was thinking of getting a matching blade anyway."
"What? I don't get the point of that sir."
"Oh you will. You will. Quite literally in fact."
The best part about having authority is abusing it.
You know I am honestly surprised that isn't an Inquisitorial axiom or quote.

This guy took just over a day to do I guess.
Rates are charged according to the complexity of the sculpt and the time it takes, which pretty much works out to be a basic minimum wage (if i'm lucky!). If you want anything specific done then PM me and we can chat further about your requirements.
Niiai wrote:That sword blade, how did you make it?
The blade was carved from a bit of plastic I had laying around, and I greenstuffed the little power gubbins by the hilt. The crossguard was carved form plasticard, and the the rest of the hilt was poached from a BA power weapon iirc.

Maybe he's into symbolism and has discarded the scabbard as a gesture of fatalistic intent?
No scabbard means only one of us is walking away from this fight (If it's you, I'll be dead and I don't have to find it. If it's me, then I'll have all the time in the world to find it).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

So I know where pretty much all the bits came from, except the shoulder pads. My guess is that they're dreadnought shin guards cut down. Am I close?
