No scabbard means only one of us is walking away from this fight (If it's you, I'll be dead and I don't have to find it. If it's me, then I'll have all the time in the world to find it).

Well either that or some sort of fashion statement?

Orki, your sculpting skills are ace, but your cmon gallery is insane.

Can I get a recipe for your not metallics on krull? I've just ordered a decimator engine and would love to rock that look.

I am currently taking commissions.

Nope. They're cut down from Orc 'ardboy shoulder pads.

Cheers!

Krulls NMM is just a typical greyscale blend, going from black > adeptus > codex > fortress > VMC Silvergrey > VMC Offwhite. Initial placement was done with an airbrush as he is so bloody big, and then refined with manual glazing. I also added some very subtle blue tinting to the armour with some VMC transparent blue to help give it a bit of life, and to tie in with Krull's extremely saturated skin better. The complete lack of hue in his armour looked a bit out of place and cold until this step.

If you're on about the weathering too, then that is a combination of sponge weathering and manual brushwork. I used VMC german camo blackbrown for the main sponging and brushwork of the damage, bestial brown washes for the fresh rust. To give the illusion of depth to the damage, I shaded the 'underhangs' with black, and highlighted upper-facing edges with VMC offwhite.

If only it took as little time to do as it does to say.

Come to think of it, when was the last time GW gave a scabbard to a model with a power sword?

Lets be 'realistic' here. These things just get in the way when you're wading through the corpses of Xeno scum don't they?

Holy crap you are right. They don't. Someone should check the Codex Astartes on the correct issuing of scabbards.

"Where is your scabbard for that most blessed relic blade you have the honor of carrying into battle Brother? The Codex clearly states that it is to be worn on the right hand side of your armor at all times."

"Well the Codex is more of a set of guidelines than rules, and it should not be interpreted so narrowly."

"..... You lost it again didn't you?"

"No! A Blood Raven took it this time I swear!"

"But left the blade? The relic blade that would make a fine gift?"

"Umm.... would you believe I wasn't issued one?"

"No. This is going on your record."

"I hate this Company! You never pick on the 1st Company like this! Your not my spiritual liege! I wish I was never inducted! *Runs off crying*"

Thanks man. I really love the brown weathering. I think I'll have a little practise on some spare rhino doors, then the decimator engine will get the treatment.
