We are Nuke Arts and some of you probably have seen my work before under the name of Nuclealosaur
Nuke Arts is a team of professional miniature painters, sculptors and artists working together to produce awesome miniature and scale models led by Nuke (Nuclealosaur)
We're happy to announce that we are now open for business and are always open for commission and we paint anything from 25mm Sci-fi / Fantasy wargaming miniatures to scale models and props!

Wow, that is some of the best source lighting I've ever seen. Love the multimelta on the Land Raider and the hammer and powerfist on the last two characters. Stunning work!
Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

That landraider is astounding! How was the green colour gradient achieved? Airbrush, inks, glazes or some unholy combination?

Cheers man. The lighting is somewhat a personal preference of mine, good to hear people really like it.

Oh thanks a lot man, the pictures are from the Nuke Arts facebook page which could be the reason why the photos look a little pixelated.

Thankyou! Yes I use an airbrush and do a kind of layered effect with the paints, lightest coming last as you may guess. I also use pieces of card or something similar to get a kind of straight edge while using the airbrush, which gives it that gradient shine look.

Nuke, continued awesomeness, I am going to have to finish converting that Mephiston but the longer I wait the better you get lol!
First, I demand a tutorial on how you are selecting your modulation points on your vehicles
Second, I demand a tutorial on your las-plas plasma effect and colors used
Eggroll wrote:Nice work Nuke. Good to see you post more stuff here. Now all this thread needs is MajorTom complimenting you on your muscles and it'll be complete
Third, Nuke is getting Jacked up!
lol, Since my kid was born the only thing getting jacked up is my pant size, so I can appreciate someone with time and initiative to get to the gym lol!
Enzephalon wrote:You are the master of light effects. Keep the good stuff coming.
Thank you, sir! Will do keep more coming... actually this tread is dedicated to 2011 work, but we have a constant stream of commissions coming in all the time

Congrats on your new class: dad (if it's your firstborn and could survive paint fumes and all that is good)
In the previous Dark Angels tank project I just went with what I thought looked cool... seriously.... The new one in 2012 though is more subtle
Still, I imagine the light coming from the top.... but since Space Marine vehicles are all boxed shape sometimes it's a hard thing
making artistic end and realistic end meet.... so I usually go with the most appropriate option: the most 'Fun' way.

Thanks EVERYONE for your comments
As mentioned before, this thread is dedicated for 'my' 2011 work (before we became Nuke Arts, the team)
After we've ran out of stuff to post we'll start posting 2012 stuff here in a different thread, each dedicated to a completed project from 2012....
Since quite a few people liked the 2011 version of Dark Angels tanks..... Well.... here ya go, a sneak peak of our (still by me, but the collective pronoun just sounds better haha - some later works from March onward will be products of team effort though)
That's just one of them, this batch was finished around late Feb 2012 and it's got
Land raider Terminus Ultra + Extra Armor
Land Raider Ares
Land Raider Achilles
Land Raiders Helion
Land Raider Redeemer
razorback
And the client is sending a drop pod and possibly the latest Land Raider Spartan to add to his epic Dark Angels collection....
Yes.... it's going to be good!

Nothing wrong with going from a 6-pack to a family-pack. Sounds like your son is transforming you into a true wargamer!
Back on topic...
Nuke: how are you doing the weathering on your vehicles? Is it just sponge chipping or are you mixing in oils and pigments as well?

Yes on everything - sponge chipping first, then add more chipping with a brush. Then oil wash and pigment as usual
As you can see the coloration is different because I went with the lighter tone compared with the previous batch (2011 DA tanks) which have stronger contrast between the shade and highlight making it harder to see the battle damage.
Whereas in the new batch there the gradation only go from mid tone to highlight with less 'shade'.... and I controlled the overall highlight with yellow just to make the whole thing more 'unified'...... you'll just have to wait to see them in proper photos
I've always struggled with OSL. I have to ask, could you do a quick tutorial for us mortals?
"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

hey man, the best way not to be demoralized by other painters' work is to find your own style and stick with it!
