Was going to do a P&M blog for this, but never got around to it. But here he is anyways!

"Granddaddy" is my Bioshock inspired Daemon Prince for a Apostles of Contagion force I am currently working on.

Here are the initial stages of him. Used the Nurgle Daemon Prince body. The drill arm was molded from a Killa Kan drill and the wiring was guitar strings. (32 and 42 gauge). The headpiece was entirely greenstuffed, I didnt want to try to have some sort of hollow dome to glue on so i just built up a greenstuff dome in thick ayers, placing some guitar string between the upper layers. For the rollcage, I just used thick pins and paperclips. Zipkicker definitely aided in this as they were a complete pain in the ass to do. I wanted a very renegade/ scrapped together look for this force so I gave him a jerry rigged IG autocannon, tied to him with chains (found a Michael s in their jewelry section, dirt cheap too.) and barbed wire from Army Painter. Although the model is styled after the Bouncer Big Daddies, i felt it would look odd with an empty hand, so I gave it something reminisce of the Rivet gun.

The little sister was a must for this model and when I found the mini with the gas mask it screamed Nurgle. Got her from Hasslefree Minatures. Even gave her a doll of the Daemon Prince (in the picture below)

This was definitely my grungiest, filthiest models. Started off with a dark brown and worked my way up to Vomit Brown. The Apostles of Contagion are normally full brass, but I felt metalllic marines wouldnt offer as much as far as quality grim, filth and ooze, so I took some liberties went with a yellowish hue.

Hope you folks enjoy!

Awesome model! I love the conversion work you did, and the paintjob is really good as well; all those browns work very well together.

The bared wire is also a nice touch!

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

Un frakkin believable! I have always admired the skills used to paint and model chaos forces but never really wanted any of my own, until now. If I could make a daemon prince that good... you sir are a golden god of painting and modeling.

"The uniforms of the Imperial guard are camouflaged in order to protect their wearers by hiding them from sight. the principle is that what the enemy cannot see, he cannot kill. This is not the way of the Adeptus Astartes. A Space Marine's armour is bright with heraldry that proclaims his devotion to his Chapter and the beloved Emperor of Mankind. Our principle is that what the enemy can see, he will soon learn to fear." -The codex Astartes

I definitely wanted it to be Bioshock inspired, but not just a big daddy. If it was strictly designed to look exactly like a big daddy, i felt it wouldnt look well on the table, so I am glad I conveyed the mix well

Love it! Thanks for including the parts menu too

I always wonder sometimes when I see heavily converted models where its bitz come from, so I figured it would be good to give a parts run down for this guy. The tank on his back is actually a sponson cylinder from an old predator with a strip of cut up blister pack plastic glued around it. And tube on the bottom of it was actually from the fine-cast sprue. Speaking of which. I managed to luck out on the failcast for the most part on this one. While this guy was still in the design phase I was dropping off a commission at a LGS I dont usually go to. They had the Finecast Nurgle Daemon Prince and I saw it thinking,, omg this will work perfectly.

Bought him on the spot and luckly it didnt have too many problems with it. The fingers on the hand were pretty messed up. To the point I would have called GW if I was actually using them, but that hand was chopped off for the drill. A lot of the minor bubbles and stuff was fine since It was nurgle marine and after paint it wouldnt be a problem.

I've been rolling around the idea of it actually, having some Splicer-esque guardsmen. However, I am at a crossroads whether I want to play a Renegade Guard book using the Vraks 3 IA book, or as a Chaos Marines force. Its mostly hinging on what will be released army wise for 6th Ed Chaos/Renegades. So Ive just been taking my time with this force while I wait.

Regardless I plan to use Maxmini's biohazard helms on some of my marines.

Might use the upper middle one on some terminators and have it as a retinue of sorts.

Looks great. You forgot one thing though. Where is the little sister? Maybe you could place it on another base and use it as an objective marker. That would be cool. I love it, And great work.
