Hello guys,
if warhammer 40k made a new army, with a new codex, what would be the ideal and best army ideas you could think of.

An army that has it's own Codex but with units that can also be incorporated into other armies.

I'd like to see models of 40K civilians who have taken up arms to defend their world. And not just human, an array of various aliens that exist in the 40K universe would add more great depth to the 40K universe.

Thats a pretty good idea, a bunch of civilians, from different races, who protect their world so they join together and rise up against armies.

I REALLY don't think another Codex should be added to the game.

However, if they did, Adeptus Mechanicus is probably the best option, being a well-established faction with potentially unique play style and great models.
The main flaw? They'd be another Imperium-aligned Codex.

A magiteck style xenos race. Lots of magic driven technology and a a reliance on buffs. E.g. their basic troops are quite weak but they get buffed up. Only a certain number of units can be buffed a turn, so you have to choose on a turn by turn basis where your force needs power, defense, speed and where it can have none of these things.

I agree that another codex is a bad idea, since they haven't even updated things like Tau and Black Templars in how many years? Another dex would just exacerbate that problem. If they did make one though, it would probably be either another Space Marine chapter (Blood Ravens maybe?) or Adeptus Mechanicus. There aren't many well know non-IoM races out there that don't currently have a codex, so the next one would most likely be IoM.

What I'd love to see is something like they did for Warhammer Fantasy, release a huge book of Mercenaries and various species not big enough to be races, but good enough to be a single FoC choice for the factions.

They did it with monsters, we can do it with mercenaries.

Forgeworld produced of course.

I'm throwing my opinion in with the whole Mercenaries, Renegades, Rogues and Pirates themes. A decent complication of minor xenos and rogues from various factions along with the force organisation charts they can be used in for every army (with perhaps some that refuse to work with certain armies). Along with some unique "bought" loyalty rules that shows that they are guns for hire rather than official members of their parent codex's army

Iron Hands
Thousand Sons

sub dex's to expand the existing options like Craftworld, Ork Clans and guard regiments. I admit a mercinaries and corsairs book could be cool. I always liked Kroot mercs as an idea, but I think it might be hard to do since the factions are so polorized in 40k, it would be more like "Mercs, Slaves, Cults and Puppets". Which might not actually be a bad thing.........

I'd like to see shorter Codices (perhaps done as PDFs) for Imperial Guard regiments, Space Marine Chapters, etc in the style of the old Catachan codex. You could then apply this idea to other armies to have mini-Codices for individual Ork clans, Craftworlds, Hive Fleets, etc.

Exodites or Adepticus Mechanicus are the top two for me, with Lost and Damned just coming in behind.

Imagine what GW could do with a bored designer and a couple of video tapes worth of Dino Riders to inspire the Exodite line.

Yeah, but if GW made them at least they wouldn't be Fantasy kits with a sprue of laser guns tossed on top. I would like to see a Demiurg army though, ideally with something really different to make it stand out among IG and Marines and the like. I'm thinking lots of walkers, and walker transports.

You've probably missed it (it hasn't been well publicised) but there are some 'tactical upgrade' sprues now for the Forge Fathers - essentially subbing out all of the KoW components for more of a sci-fi look. I've just got a box and they look great actually, if the Demiurg do finally surface it wouldn't at all surprise me if their style is comparable.

Iron Warriors should get their own Dex. Look at how many their are and they do not use deamons like other csm armies.

A pure Psyker army. Not Grey Knight Psykers, an army where every unit is crap, like WS 2, BS 3(4), S/T 3, I 2, but they have epic psychic powers for everyone, with powers like the Primaris Psyker and Sanctioned Psykers shooting lightning and stuff. Yeah. Also, force weapons all around, not that it matter too much since they would still be WS 2 I 2.
