Chapter Specific Transfers

So these are up for advanced order, for a limited time only apparently. Quite a nice touch, some Odd choices of chapters in there.

With the Citadel Paint Range and the new Empire models out this month, you'd have thought we'd released enough new products in April, but no, there's more! This weekend ten new Space Marine Transfer sheets go on advance order - perfect for adding the finishing touches to your Space Marine miniatures. Each transfer sheet measures 148mm by 210mm and contains over 150 transfers. I would have given you a more accurate number, but I went cross-eyed counting them all somewhere around the 175 mark...

There's a wide variety of icons, squad markings and campaign markers on each sheet, plus Chapter heraldry to mark out your warriors to both friend and foe alike (so they know which Chapter of Space Marines is about to pound their army to dust). So whether you're about to start an army of Flesh Tearers, or you're thinking of adding to your growing Raven Guard collection, then this is a great way to ensure your army looks great on the battlefield.

The really good news is that these transfers have been redesigned using stronger, thinner film, making them really simple to apply to your miniatures. By using 'Ardcoat to prepare your working area and Lahmian Medium to seal the transfer, you will get a great result quickly and easily. Check out the How to Paint Citadel Miniatures book for more information on how to apply the new transfers (pages 44 and 45). We've also included a couple of pictures below to show off the Studio's Aurora Chapter Space Marines, complete with Chapter symbols and iconography from the new Transfer sheets.

So, what are you waiting for? These new transfers will only be available while stocks last, so if you want to get your hands on them you'll need to be swift about it. Simply click on the links at the top of the page and add them to your cart.

There is also a 360 Degree view of the GD mini
Earlier we talked a lot about Games Day and the events that go on there. But there's another part of Games Day that we have yet to mention - the Games Day miniature. As seasoned veterans of the Games Day scene will know, the Games Day miniature is a one-off piece that is only available at the event itself, making it a highly sought-after model.

This year's miniature is special for several reasons. Not only is it the first Games Day miniature to be cast in Citadel Finecast, but because this year marks the 25th anniversary of Warhammer 40,000, the decision was made to base the miniature on a seminal piece of Games Workshop artwork - the cover of the second edition boxed game.

Juan Diaz, the man behind the sculpting tool for this year's model, has captured the likeness of the Blood Angels Captain perfectly, right down to the equipment hanging from his belt, the design of his armour, and his determined Ork-slaying expression.

As mentioned before, this miniature is only available at Games Day, so make sure you book your ticket before we run out (which did happen in the UK last year).

10 Chapters are covered by these transfers. Well 9 as there are 2 Space Wolve ones.

I mean, not that I DON'T like the idea of transfer sheets of different chapters, I mean, brilliant idea, really, but... I mean we can't get army books or support for all the first founding chapters, but now you can't even be bothered to make TRANSFER SHEETS for them?!?

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Why is this a Limited Edition release? What advantages could they possibly get by only selling this for a short period of time?

Tons. It lets them see there's an interest in these. It lets them know that FW alone might not be the best place for these to be made available from.

Angels of Vengeance are a welcome sight, I've always liked them the best of the Dark Angel successors. I wonder how limited, as I didn't see any of the online stores normal indicators of them being a limited offering, only that they're a direct order exclusive. Hopefully I'll be able to pick one or two sets up next month when our new GW opens.

Limited time period on these is annoying.

Half tempted for my SW, but, I'm not going to buy a sheet now, get half was through the army then find I need another sheet and, oh look they are not selling them anymore.

That's just going to really cheese me off.

I was going to pick up some RG ones, but getting a closer look, and already owning the FW sheet (which is twice the size BTW, albeit twice the price) I don't think I'll bother, it looks like they have simply cut and pasted a selection of the same things from the FW sheet onto a smaller, cheaper option.

I thoroughly endorse the concept, but would have liked it to offer something a little different from what I had already.

Fine, shut my post...

I still want to rant about Whats new Today, so here goes,

As seasoned veterans of the Games Day scene will know, the Games Day miniature is a one-off piece that is only available at the event itself. - Taken from GW website, Whats New Today!

Having been aware for weeks that the Games Day mini would not be free with a ticket, and subsequently only available at the show I find quotes like the one above, taken from the website, demeaning to my intelligence and a disgracefull attempt to pull the wool over our eyes.

The UK Games Day has always included a free mini, yet GW would like us all to forget this, they're trying to retcon their bloody customers now!

It's the first time since they started advertising Games Day that they've publicly revealed the mini would not be sold with the ticket, which somehow we all knew anyway!

So I probably won't be going. Essentially they are charging £30 for attending the show, and they'll expect you to pay £20 for the finecast Marine. So, if you want the Marine they have in reality upped the price for Games Day attendace from £30 to £50!

It's a cool looking mini, but I can't be bothered going to the shambles that is Games Day anymore... People spent hours queing for stuff they could simply have walked into a store to buy last year! There will no doubt be an extensive re-think of the sales system this year but i bet it falls on its backside again and the queues are horrible, queueing for the Gday mini will be rubbish too.

Anyway, thats whats new today... in order to trap their customers for financial gain Games Workshop spin more webs than a Warp Spider!

to me games days were all about just playing games with people, wandering around, partaking in a few oddities they had going on (painting challenges, what have you)
I rarely bought things, once I did buy a novel and got it signed by the author, it was a good read and I read it on the 6 hour bus ride home...
that was way back when they had a deal where as part of the ticket price you got a bus ride there and back, 50 dollars flat, they stopped that the last...year? then they stopped games days here in my country all together... not gonna go to the US for that, don't even go down there for anime cons, and I have seen naked women at anime cons

Its a bummer the numbers on the Salamander sheet only go to 10. Someone in the art department doesn't know their fluff.

Limited edition?! As others have already noted, where is the logic? Can't imagine the print run costs as stratospheric on these things. How hard is it to do another run as and when they run out

EDIT - Oh well, I registered my protest by ordering a sheet of Death Spectres decals

It is likely to warehouse storage cost of keeping these that doesn't add up with the possible sales. Makes limited run on these as I can't imagine the demand being great.

Still flesh tearers looks tempting but just realised you can get what you want for flesh tearers through the FW blood angles transfer sheet.

I would guess, given the low cost, that once these run out they will print some other chapters. To me that would make much more sense, to keep printing for diffrent chapters and races doing them as limited runs so as to avoid flooding the website with hundreds of sheets.

I'm lucky, as this year, the Spanish GD ticket still includes the mini for free. Next year we will have to pay as everybody. Bad luck it is on July 1st, so it's probably too early to see a new 40k edition.

This isn't the case. I went to (UK) Games Days in the mid/late 1990s and you had to buy the miniature separately then. I stopped going around 2000 so don't know when they started being included in the ticket price.
