Well I've decided I need some warhounds to escort my Warlord around the battle field, so after scanning the good old WWW i found some plans.
I decided to start with the main hull because it will be the central "hinge" to the titan. It will need to be strong to hold the arms/wings and it should be hollow to house the batteries I'm going to need to run the lights. I decided on plexiglass for the main body since I have TONS of the stuff lying around after the warlord build, and its strong enough to support the weight.
First step is to cut out four sets of the main hull.

Then cut them to the right length.

Next sand the edges to be glued.

Next glue a top, a strip, and a wall together, and let dry.

Glue 2 of the above assemblies together.

Another photo.

Next come the arm/wings, I didn't take a first step photo here so here's a WIP.

Take the top, a side wall, and a back wall and glue them together.

Repeat for the other side.

While those dried I started on the caps for the main hull.

The back end will be removable so I can swap the batteries

Thats as far as I've gotten. I'll be working on it more during the Thanksgiving break. I hope to have the 4 of them at least shaped out (no details or paint) by the 8th of December, but its beginning to like that may not happen.

Care to share where you found those Titan plans? I may have a Thanksgiving weekend project myself then.

It certainly looks like it is starting to come together. This thread is going to get very interesting if you keep at the frequency you are working at right now and I am looking forward to seeing the results. Are you going to be painting them as soon as they are structurally complete too?

Thanks legoburner. I wish I could keep up the frequency but finals are week after next so I've been studying a lot lately.

I do have some updates though. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of the progress I made during thanks giving but I'll describe it to the best of my memory.
First I attached the other wing to the first titan

I also cut the other wings for the other 3 bodies.

Next I cut the shoulder and top pieces out of gator board (basically thicker foamcore). I then covered the gator board with plasticard to make it neat and uniform.
Then I started detailing.
First up was a skull from the new ruins kit:

Some small pieces from the sentinel kit:

A wall piece from the manufactorum:

A couple of doors from the russ:

And you end up with this:

Another pic:

I also started punching a few rivets for the detailing stages:

I'm going to cast the shoulders and top pieces in resin so the other 3 can be finished quickly.

Thanks for the kind words Migsula! I love your TWAR!
I added some small details such as a strip to the front of the shoulders.

Then I skinned one of the exhaust pieces. In case you're wondering, something will go in that hole but I'm keeping it a surprise until I get to the electronics stage.

Finally I added some of the old rhino dozer blades to give it a little more detail.

Another angle:

I'll be adding some more details tonight and hopefully casting the shoulder/engine pieces as well.

Starting to get very exciting I have a bunch of those old dozer blades sitting around and have never seen them used in an interesting way until now (it was always just spiky bits on scenery) so nice idea!

The dozer blade is a really great idea indeed. seems perfect for what you've used it for here.

That is a really impressive task you have set for yourself, and doing it really well! I cannot wait to see the end result. Any chance for a newbie like me to see your Warlord? If it is half as good as what I have seen so far....Wow. just...............wow

Here's some new updated shots.

I just put the parts in the silicon so hopefully I'll post again in a few days with 4 copies.

I was seriously considering buying a 'Mars' pattern Warhound for Chrissie.

You are dissuading me..........

akira - i've never liked the mars pattern warhounds. They were always to "flowey" for me, not like proper weapons of war.

Migsula - Painting will start when its all finished. It looks like it'll be a couple of weeks before I start the feet or head (haven't figured out which is next), since finals are next week.

The molds came out great. I'd post pictures but dakka's rules on posting molding are rather sketchy.

You crazy...

That's a MAN half a foot taller than your Titan!

And it looks like...the head swivels?

You crazy....

If the AC spins I'm gonna fall outta my chair.

You crazy...

Seriously, you made a cockpit.

You crazy...

Ok tell me, is the head that ship from the Justice League cartoon from the 80s??

CRAZEEEEEEEEEE!

Stelek - Yes the gattling blaster rotates. It actually rachets so it can only spin one way.
The head does swivel and moves in and out. The cockpit even has lights.
The head started life as one of those over sized Easter eggs.
The back opens up and it can hold 200 guardsmen, and 8 chimeras can fit in each leg.

legoburner - Thanks! I'll get some photos when I get home from work.

Well since lego gave me the go ahead here are some pics of the molds and results.

First I build a master mold by gluing the originals to a box I then poured mold material into the box and vacuumed the whole thing in a vaccume chamber:

This cured for 24 hours I then removed the originals from the new molds and poured resin in. This was then put into a pressure pot:

One of the rear should molds:

The engine and top shoulder pieces:

All the molds:

All the rear shoulder casts:

The top shoulder pieces and engine casts:

The top and rear shoulder pieces stuck together:

The workstation from hell:

Visions for the back, between the shoulder furnaces and below the engine:

This may be the last update for a week or so as I've got finals next week.

Wow, I was expecting some lego brick moulds... you are hardcore!! I think the thing that makes resin pictures so attractive is that the colour and the moulding makes me assume I am looking at white chocolate

mmmm... white chocolate titans

So I guess you made the molds because you're making a few titans.. is the time it takes to make the molds worth it, like would it have been easier to just build it all normal?

Can you sell those casted pieces , or would GW send the inquisition to kill you?

Well on Sunday I was studying but one of my co-workers came over and gave me a hand.
I took a couple of breaks to get som WIP shots for y'all.

First he put some strengthing ribs in the wings:

He then cut some tin to be used for weapons mounts:

The slip neatly in the ribs:

These pieces of tin were then glued in, and then more ribs were added on top of them, this way the guns can be magnatized and moved:

Here's a picture of a new mold inside the pressure pot:

The new back plate after demolding:

Necros - I don't intend to sell these pieces as I like the GW legal team not pointed in my direction.

Symbio Joe - The pressure pot has 3 $75 attachments on it, and it costs $80. The vaccume machine was $180, the glass jar was from big lots for $10, the table was scratch built so roughly $25 there. The resin is $90 for a gallon of parts A and B. The silicone is $90 for 1 gallon of it, and 1 quart of the hardener.

That is amazing work.

And just to chim ein... Selling those would be a bad idea. That would certainly violate GW's IP. I would never recommend someone contact via PM. No, I would never do that. I would never mention anything about price and shipping in such a fictitious PM. Nope, i'd never do that. No way, no how.

For real, that is some great work. Inspirational.
