Would it cause the corruption and failure of the Astronomican and Golden Throne, resulting in the downfall of the Imperium?

From atop the Golden Throne where the Emperor has sat for 10,000 years, came an immense disturbance from within.
Worlds were torn asunder, the minds of hundreds of millions of psykers exploded with the wave of corruption...

What counts as corruption?
At any rate the Psykers get picked up on the Black Ships so i'm fairly sure there is some kind of a screening process...

Why would eating a corrupt psyker's soul bother the Emperor when the Emperor was able to threaten all four Chaos Gods at once to the point where they were scared gakless of his psychic lance, thrown at Horus AFTER he was mortally wounded by Horus?

That's a good point. I wasn't aware of it. I'll take that to mean that it wouldn't do anything.

Hell, even the Daemons codex says that the Emperor is the only thing stopping Daemons from taking over entirely heh.

Right, the souls of the psykers are absorbed into his conciousness. Any corruption would easily be purged by his infinitly more powerful psychic-ness.

In essence, he chews his food before swallowing.

Probably ending up getting fully turned to Chaos.

I figure there probably would be, to prevent anything that could possibly cause the Astronomican to go out.

It's rumored, that the Emperor tried to create a web way network, and it got flooded by daemons, and that the Astronomican is also holding back the daemons from Terra.

Its not a rumor.

The Golden Throne is a manmade Webway gate. The Emperor's will is what's keeping it closed and daemons from pouring out, since Magnus broke that section of the Webway open.

The Emperor had used an old Webway gate on Earth to gain access to the Webway. He had even figured out how to make new sections. Then all hell broke loose.


Now the Throne is a jury rigged life support system.

Here's what's going on:

The Emperor has been dead for 10,000 years. His worthless carcass adorns the golden throne to perpetuate the lie that he's magically clinging to life through sheer force of will. (Not a hard cover-up to sell.)

The golden throne itself is a psychic beacon powered by 1000 psykers, which is what maintains the astronomican.

The golden throne doesn't care who you serve as it brain-sucks you to death.

It's been a while sense I really read deep into the canon, but wasn't there another guy on the throne that they kicked out so that they could put the Emperor into it?

Malcador the Sigilite babysat the throne for his emperorness, and then when the emperor returned all wrecked after his showdown with horus, malcador got up to give him his seat back, and then promptly turned into dust and blew away.

Yeah, keep tellin' yerself that, but seeing as the Emperor has directly communicated with people even as recent as a couple thousand years before the canon M.41 timeline, and has been active in other wise more recently than that, this ain't true.

Those supplicants chosen to attend the Emperor by the Black Ships are actually trained in HOW to do what they do. They aren't cordwood being hucked into the open furnace of the Soul Engine, just to burn up. They are taught how to use the psychic power "Celestial Chorus." The power helps to focus and channel the raw might of the Emperor. Using that power kills them, but keeps the galaxy spinning. The black ships only take certain candidates, and training and thorough vetting IS required to be used for the Chorus. Enemy psykers never manage to get inside.

Even if they do receive some manifestation of the 'Emperor', it's just one of the thousand psykers putting up a psychic ruse.

It's okay that the Emperor is dead, ya know. Doesn't matter. As long as the Golden Throne keeps broadcasting, the Imperium will function.

I was kind of imagining something like a psychic fart that would burn out the minds of psykers across the Imperium and cause tens of thousands of worlds to be torn asunder.

And what happens if the Emperor devours a corrupted psyker?

Nowt, it's unlikely to happen at all as dangerous psykers are usually destroyed before they get on Black Ship and if they do, or are somehow corrupted on board despite of the psychic shielding and wards, the Emperor wouldn't probably notice, he's devouring 1000s of psykers at a time.

The Emperor devours a corrupted psyker and thinks "who put cherry in there, I wanted strawberry". then he moves on with his life.

The Wikia wiki is not an official wiki. It's fan made and incredibly poor, due to lack of sources and open acceptance of fan fiction.

Lexicanum is not much better.
