So here it is, i'd like to hear you people about this topic xD

I only used citadel paints so far, aside from pigments its only reliable for me atm.
So what you have to do, list out any paint manufacturer that you had horrible smell on it, both washer and paint?

For me, I didn't find any citadel paint smelly enough to puke, but washers?
Man, baal red wash almost made me throw up and faint, its always hard to work with it x_X second would be baddab wash I recon.. yuck

Yes, Devlan Mud for sure. Haven't gotten a chance yet to smell Agrax Earthshade - maybe someone can give an opinion?

Last time I was painting at my FLGS they had a bottle labeled "Stink." I'm pretty sure it was Devlan mud.

There was a topic before regarding this.
I have to agree citadel washes smell so bad sometimes, mostly due to the chemicals and it spoiling.
Just get a new bottle fresh from the delivery guy, and smell it.
Return if its a rotten corpse!

All Tamiya paints reek to me. The new washes do not have that "organic" smell to them, which is a shame really. I got used to breathing through my mouth when using them.

Judging by the smell, they wash the Ogryn and put the used bathwater into the bottle.

The new washes/shades all smell fine, I don't know what kind of devil magic they used on the old ones.

yeah GW washes do stink.

My Tamiya Colour X-27 "Clear Red" Smells like strawberries / cider.

Until you sniff too close then its just like straight up alchahol/chemical which isn't advised.

Badab Black is by far the worse i've got, followed closely by Gryphonne Sepia. Another really bad paint ive got is Warlock Purple. That thing sticks like a corpse.

One thing I'm noticing is that some of the washes people mention as stinking especially badly smell OK to me--I wonder if some factor other than the particular color determines the smell (age of the wash, or something similar). Does anyone know more about all this? Where does that smell come from in the first place?

it's smell is very dynamic, sometimes it smells sweet, then sometimes it makes me want to die.

I believe they used organic compounds in the old washes, and they would go off and rot in the bottle, causing those awful smells.

Hmm.

The old GW Green Ink was pretty foul.

Devlan Mud and Badab Black are about equal for foulness.

With the washes it's due to the fact there's an organic compound in it. In fact, an old Devlan Mud pot that I've left empty on my desk has started to...er...go green.

Now only a CSM player.

A lot of the Citadel washes smell bad, like faeces I've noticed.
Most notable ones are badab black, ogryn flesh, devlan mud.

I think Badab Black just has the edge over Devlan Mud.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

One of the flesh washes from about 10 years back. I THINK it was dwarven flesh? I cant remember exactly, but my GOD that stuff smells to high hell.
