Subject: On to the Chaos Cult Army! The time has come for a Militia!
|
 |
Fighter Pilot
|
After some long deliberation and a lot of changing of hands, my guard has returned to me and my chaos is no more. They are now part of the largest chaos army in North Jersey so I know their in good hands.
My guard are under a heavy revision, I am going for an Urban Desert camo scheme which is very much a combo of all of the colors I enjoy working with, primarily orange.
The guard is to be created for any list i dream of. I have an entire notebook worth of Guard lists and ideas and most of that will be portrayed in this army. For a guard scheme it will be very complex and that is ok with me so here is what i have so far.

Todays update is sponsored by the Mechanicum, now work my factories!
This update is for my new Tech priest which i Dumped about an hour into for the past two days, his name is Arkev. This Army is a reclamation force sent by the mechanicum in order to reclaim all lost technology on Necron worlds and their main goal is to fit Gauss technology to Leman Russ Battle-tanks in order to make a more effective means of anti everything.
Not much today, but more as i go. For now pictures!
He is still a WiP so please feel free to comment!

Techpriest is for the most part done. Adept Arkev is close to completion as all i need to do is touch up and basing with my new deserty scheme which i enjoy so much.
As for the next part of the army to conquer will be my Leman Russ Eradicator, yes, i am using an Eradicator as where i play, everything is covered in cover.
I plan on having a similar, but not exactly the same color scheme for my vehicles as each one needs to have different variants of the camo scheme for distinction between units.
The plan for chimeras is simple, no backs but filled with gear and guy on a turret mount out the front hatch with the specific weapon, something more desert oriented and i feel a fully open rear zone would be cool on a chimera.

Update! If you are as excited as I am them good because you will enjoy some of todays project.
I made my new and more desert version of a chimera, the Theros Pattern IV chimera manned by a veteran crew. Sgt. Adlum man's the heavy bolter and the chimera is built for speed and mobility. The heavy bolter is the turret replacement and has a nice set of sandbags to defend the gunner from incoming small arms fire. The role for this chimera is close assault and to follow a convoy advance as it trails through the desert tracking down ancient technological relics.
Second item on the bench today was my Exterminator, slowly progressing, once the entirety of the tank is painted, I plan for a good amount of freehand on the side.

Update of the day, its fairly straightforward and is mostly pictures, but that's ok.
I have gotten roughly 40 poorly made and old plastic Cadians who are either half of a guardsman or torso bits, but thats ok. If I can get my second platoon made out of this group them i will be happy. I also got a valkayrie that was in rough condition in a box for cheap, but that's ok, I can fix it and I know it.

Yesterday i happen to have a good friend of mine give me his remaining guardsmen, all cadians in different conditions, mostly halved and unarmed, literally no arms. Its 38 pairs of legs which will become the last squad of second squad and 3rd platoon. Im very excited with this prospect of having 3 infantry companies.
Also with these guardsmen i bought a Valkyrie that will become a Vendetta for $20, i cant not take that offer.
Within this bag of different guardsmen, i found the present that he had hidden in the bottom of the bag, the commissar i had been looking for since i started playing 40k, i was a happy man.
Here is my WiP commisar. I spent about 45 minutes on him and taught one of my other good friends about painting using this model. What a nice two days.

The commisar is almost complete!
Now for a bit of backstory on the regiment.
Arnak was once an uninhabited world close to the northern sector of the Eye of Terror. The Imperium saw its necessity as a position for a fortress world for use against tides of chaos that would pour forth from the eye. With this being the case, a Cadian regiment was dispatched to make sure the world was uninhabited or at the very least non hostile towards the Imperium. The regiment was held over orbit under the command of this new world by General Arnak who was leading the expedition.
After several days of recon by the imperial navy, much of the world was filled with small villages and a few towns. A flight of valkayries were sent down to land outside of the largest of the towns and use all necessary force to either pacify the populace or to get their devotion to the emperor.
As the first valkyrie landed, it was hit with several volleys of bolter fire, it was an ambush, droves of chaos tainted militia came darting towards the landing. As the chaos began, a massive hail of well coordinated shots came down to strafe the militia from and overhead flight of Vulture gunships that pounded the militia into the ground. After the landing incident, massive troop dispatches were sent out to reinforcing the landing zones.
Within a week of heavy fighting the chaos militias were wiped out after a detachment of Mechanicus Skitarii reinforced the guardsmen. After the planet was taken in the name of the Emperor, it was settled by a fleet sent out from nearby imperial worlds and from several Forgeworlds which helped to establish a healthy presence of Mechanicus in the newly liberated desert world. The planet was named after general Arnak who took it upon himself to claim the planet with what limited supplies he had and to defeat the Emperors enemies. Soon after he obtained the status of Planetary Governor and his veterans were given settlements rights soon after, but most of his troops were sent to Cadia to reinforce the world.
That is all for tonight and more to follow tomorrow as I get into the Arnak trooper fighting doctorines and how they function as a military.

Update of the night, been a very busy day home.
I didnt get a huge amount of my own work done today, but i painted a few more of my special units, commanders and sich, so here they are.
One of them is Commander Darius, leader of the 131st Light Foot Division who is to lead the guard expedition from the front. He is a veteran of many conflicts and battles, covering his face and sporting a bionic eye that he got after a Tyranid ripped a section of his face off when he was shouting orders to his men to keep the bugs back.
Company First Sargent Yaleman carries the flag for Arnak, he is a grizzled veteran as well, one of the best melee fighters in the entire division. He supports many scars and uses the company standard as a weapon to fend off the assault on his comrades.

This weeks project is to get my militia platoon togther and get my first two main infantry platoons done as well as paint my Minatours who are my ogryn replacements because Minatours are cooler then fat guys with buck teeth.

The storm troopers and grenadiers of Arnak are a renowned group of shock troopers known as the Arnak Falcatas. Trained from the desert mountain tribes, they compose the heaviest infantry platoons in the sector. With access to all forms of equipment and vehicles, they form the spearhead of any assault. Their usual mode of transport is a grav chute. Each trooper is expected to be able to shoot an enemy down from over 600 meters within their first week of training. These troopers are the ultimate mountain infantry. Each one of them is able to land in a mountainous area that is filled with dense rocks and terrain. When they land they can march for miles in the hot sun with full gear and be able to survive for weeks to complete a mission.

After a long day of working on other peoples models, I finally get to work on one of my own, I'm in a fantasy mood recently as if you've been following can tell by my last post, the priest. This entire army is going to be entirely based on my work on NMM, that's right, one year in and I am tackling non metallic metals. My friends said I was crazy and I know this to be true, but I must do this in order to get better. This is my task. My plan though as far as painting, characters, then cav, then on to my rank and file troops who will all be individual.
My entire army is of Stirland in the empire. I will have units of Stir River patrol in it too for my units that prove themselves before being painted.
Tonight I worked on Captain Kaisner, the captain of my swordsmen. He is wearing worn meteoric armor and the yellow and green colors of Stirland. I am very excited with doing this army. I won't forget about my Imperial guard though and there will be a tutorial for my sand basing sometime in the middle of the week.

Now its been a bit since my last update, but I've been very busy. With the arrival of 6th edition, I've been working very hard on stripping my guard army. Not the stuff posted, but all of the stuff I've had for a long time I've even been restoring some of my old out of commission guardsmen and am now restoring and converting them to a usable level. This being said, I've been building my scheme for the troops. The new thing on some of my guard are turbans and head wraps. Give them some desert character.
I've been using flamers a lot more this edition, their far better then they were before and when you have a 30 man brick with 3 flamers and 27 las guns and power axe sgts ready to roll, then its game over for whatever charges you.
I played yesterday, 4th game of 6th against dark eldar, 1500 points with my al rahem list. I've got to say on an objective game, you can crash and grab objectives effectively as well as clear any threat to the infantry with the tanks and veterans. I only lost two tanks and 12 guys, 5 being stormtroopers and a few ratlings.
