So I'm perplexed at this little situation here. Who in the hell is in charge of making these decisions? Why is a single piece model that is 15 years old worth as much as 4 rather recent space marines?
$33 in finecast for 4 multi part models
$29.75 for a single piece model and a plastic horse

Hell of a lot more recent than that Grandmaster I can tell you that.

It's GW and they do what they want. If they really tried to make customers happy these models wouldn't even be finecast.

All those models are pretty ugly.
That aside, I can't think of any reason why 4 multi part models cost almost the same as 1 multi part model.
I can't think of any molding process that makes this make sense.

The only multi part about the grandmaster is the horse. The rider himself is single piece. So the actual finecast part of him is uber simple.

That actually makes those Masters of the Chapter pretty oustanding value.... as far as finecast goes anyway.

Horses be expensive it seems. Another thing to notice is the price change on the Iron Hands upgrade with this change. They used to be $60ish here for the squad, however in Finecast it is dropped to $30 for some reason. Perhaps the old metal one came with actual tactical marines, but then they're $62 to a box so I doubt they would ship them cheaper with added parts.

Has nothing to really do with the pricing of Finecast models.
For years now, the price bands have been rather strange when it comes to mounted characters/units.
Remember the Blood Knights? They were, when released, some of the single most expensive cavalry models out there. They were something like $20/model for the blister pack due to the fact that the steeds were pure pewter and the price band they were in was the same as "mounted characters" with pure pewter steeds.
They're still stupidly expensive for the same reason.

What's more perplexing is the space marine’s lack of helmets. Why bother wear a huge suit of armor when a well placed shot to the head can kill you instantly anyways?

Usually with Space Marines that's just how they work. They try to explain it by saying they have force fields that provide the same amount of protection but it is generally seen as a sign of bravery by other Astartes. It's quite stupid and robs them of the sensors built into the helmet, which then some go and get those features implanted as bionics to make up for it. -.-

The more important the marine the less likely it is they will wear a helmet. Nothing says 'shoot me im important' like a bare head and a nice big banner.
Pedro Cantor seems to be the only one who has his head/helmet screwed on......

Because even though their products are marked up 90% (Yes, that's with everything included, believe it or not when you distribute space, packing, and all those other things people say raise the cost, between thousands of models is really adds nothing) they feel the need to overprice them even more.

I always thought that SMs and other types of them should always wear helmets, other wise it isn't brave, it is just plain stupid! Hmmm... The hellcannon didn't go up when it made the transition to finecast, but the blood knights (which cost more than their own battalion) and a few other products, such as the fell bats are waaaaaaay to expensive: £30 £61.50! £36 £40!! £22.50 Then this outdated daemon: £36 Oh, then this pile of bull... £30 I find the Názgul prices stupid: £49!!!!

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.
Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.
After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right. |

This is something literally as old as miniatures wargaming itself. It's Rule of Cool. It gives the model much more personality than just being another faceless dude in a helmet, and lets you take advantage of this by painting a face in a color other than the armor. It makes finding the model on the table far easier as well. Besides, those models have separate heads so you can just jam on a Marine helmet if you want to.
Let it be known that GW pricing, high or low, rarely makes sense. That's about all there is to it.

That's because most companies still treat Australia like a penal colony.

See if anyone want to do the math for me.
Originally the Ironhand squad is $50 CDN, cant be ordered at the maximum 25% off, but can be at 15% off certain discount sellers.
So $42.50 before tax.
Now its $22 finecost kit + $44.50 tactical squad ( 25% 0ff ) = $55.38
23.3% price increase. darn -_-
