Or is something going to happen before that? I speculate the emperor will be reincarnated but while his system is essentially rebooting chaos or necrons will take over as #1 in the galaxy

Either:

-The Emperor becomes re-encarnated and goes about with MAJOR reforms on the imperium, general civil war and kicking ass.

-The entire galaxy slowly but surely becomes a huge eye of terror with nothing to hold the daemons back; chaos wins.

Without the Imperium holding them back, Orks take over and prevent any human-style Chaos with their vastly more powerful Ork Warpiness.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

I call plot armour on this one. Someone or something else will take over.

Actually, this scenario could lead to some interesting factions with a major player being the saintly Ultramar sector - separate from other human and space marine factions. Maybe, finally, we'll have a reason for SM vs SM fighting?

The Terminus Decree goes into effect - and the entire galaxy comes to an end. If Humans and the Imperium can't have it, then no one can.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

Who's to say the Golden Throne hasn't already failed and the High Lords of Terra haven't been ruling for themselves for thousands of years?

Perhaps the psykers are sacrificed into the throne to keep up the facade. Perhaps the Astronomican is created by a choir of psykers and not the Emperor. Maybe he's just a corpse on a golden chair.

Pretty sure earth dies by demon infestation, the Astronomican goes dark. Current long distance warp jumps become imposable and the IoM breaks apart into smaller empires. The Emp prob reincarnates, but we are unsure if he comes back as a child or full adult. Some Xenos might exspand and I think you would see a much more effective black crusade.

Over all once more humans become less prime players as they battle xeno empires and threats and each other like the age ol strife.

Actually, it is. The Emperor stopped powering the Astronomican after He began His ill-fated work on the Webway. All He does is focus it. Much of His power is spent on keeping the Warp Portal behind the Throne closed. Among other things...

If He was dead, then who's soul-binding Astropaths? Who spoke to Inquisitor Draco during his audience? Who keeps Chaos from flooding the galaxy on a general basis?

Considering the rulebook itself says that the golden throne is "failing" we can rule out that the emperor isn't already dead.

Perhaps a powerful psyker in the employ of the High Lords? Perhaps a Lord of Change duped Draco with false words and visions? Chaos didn't flood the galaxy before the Emperor took over and the Warp Storms in the Age of Strife were caused by the Eldar. Sounds like Imperial Propaganda...

Wondering Why the Emperor Left

The Despoiler and Lorgar take control of the Imperium and you see the space marines and the guard take to stars on a quest to exsterminate all alien life, but this time can summon demons so it does'nt last long, humanity triumphs but its a mutated, diseased, perverted, bloodthirsty triumph, not much different than any other time in our history.

Well, if the Emperor really is dead, I suppose we should go to the Planet of the Sorcerers and greet our Primarch for the first time since he sent the armada away from Prospero. He'll be pleased to realize he still has a Fellowship's worth of sons at his disposal..after all, if the Emperor really is dead, the Blood Ravens' default loyalty goes to their Primarch, Magnus the Red. We swore allegiance to the Emperor, not to the bureaucrats of the Administratum and the raving fools of the Ecclesiarchy. I'm sure Magnus can find better uses for us - like rebuilding the Thousand Sons and burning Fenris to the ground. Hmmm...the latter sounds really appealing.

For sure no one knows, but in my humble Emperor fearing opinion the Imperium would fracture, but hold out in some areas. After a year the Emperor would be reborn and bring about the Second Great Crusade with his 2 lost Primarch sons beside him. The Emperor would first go to the Ultima segmentum after retaking the sol system and heal his fallen son Roboute. Then he would find his other lost sons (Corax, Khan, Russ, and Vulkan) and reconquer the Galaxy. Everything would be AWESOME

We are winged salvation, but we are a terrible, final salvation, and our wings embrace the horizon with fire. We are the Blood Angels. To confront us is to die, and death is my remit, my reality, my unbounded domain. I have known death, and defeated it, claimed it as my own. To my cost, to my strength, death is my one gift to bestow, and I am nothing if not generous.
