fighta bomma: these can be used for cheaper alternative for a fighta bomma f-86f Sabre/MiG15 however i'm gonna buy a few of these if i can find some cheaper AIRFIX 1/48 ENGLISH ELECTRIC LIGHTING F.2A/F.6
........The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 was originally developed in the Soviet Union as an interceptor, but this is a ork bomma. and i can buy 2 for the price of one (Italeri produces them for around 25$ and 70$ in 1:48 scale ....not sure how big small that is i generally have trouble with 1:72 scale trying to fit in with 28mm 40k-ish miniatures so shop around places like toyworld for these perfect and cheaper replica's (what else can you call them ) there are many others you could use (such as a spitfire etc, IMHO they just don't cut the proverbial mustard for 40k, maybe with some modification)

note this is jumbled will try to figure out if it's understandable by large or not.

hope this in the right area....this is general discussion so i think it's @ it's home.....lol

Update/Edit: i have scrapped the idea for a kitbashed plane in favour of this http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/449854-orkpache%20%28apache%29.html Top view and side view http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/449855-orkpache%20%28apache%29.html ....forgot hot to add pictures...will get round to remembering (when i do...busy hacking models apart to do much else) made out of rhino track guard, decepticon heli blade, missiles from valk, heavy flamer sponson weapons from russ, eldar scatter laser (as a big shoota) and nose mounted big shoota, some plasticard, and the plane/s from below (previous entry) it's 5 inchs long and 3 wide, wings are another 4 or 5 inches. it has a crew of two orks, but you can't see them as i glued the cokpit shut.....it was a bit loose and fell off all the time....fixed it so i thought i'd post a picture or two.

I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to tell us.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

You can squirt a tube of superglue into your bits box, shake it around and call it a bomma too. It'd probably look better.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

That would probably result in a ridiculous mass of sluggas, choppas and ork arms in my case.

@Orkimedes: You're after 1/48 generally for figure scale to look right for 40k.
1/72 is a little small (about 20mm scale - almost 1/4 scale out).

Yes, an F-86 Sabre, MiG-15 or EE-Lightning would all be acceptable starts to make a replacement.

I'm using a B-17 to make a Marauder (squaring off the flight surfaces - nothing says 'heresy in flight' like flight surfaces that look like they actually work).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I have seen ww2 fighters done as grot fighters on here, so id say its doable, the pic I spotted of the bomma does look like its based on an early mig or sabre so with a bit of work you could be on to something!

It really comes down to how much is your time worth.

Lets use the sabre as an example.

a 1/48th scale model for this can run from on average $15-$30

Now depending how much time you want to put into the converstion and the bits you have available it could take a few hours to days for the converstion (this of course all depends on how Orky you want it)

Now a new Ork Bomma runs $45.50 and requires maybe 30 minuites top to contsruct and does not require me to cut, saw, or mold any additional parts.

So for me the the cost+time investment is not worth it when the Ork Bomma kit as you can see is decently priced and has enough extra bits to make my Dakka Jets unique from each other.

That's the thing, y'see Nukeyboy.

Orkimedes doesn't hail from a country where GW sells their wares for "decent prices" (they are positively indecent). So we are forced, by the very nature of things, to revert 40k models back to the RT days, where kitbashing EVERYTHING else to get something you wanted was the way it was done.

Any other way leads to angry glares from SWMBO and the questions of "You paid WHAT for that?".

Well yesterday i bought a Fockewulf, a Grumman and a interceptor raiden (jack) in 1:48 scale, these set me back $85 for all 3. it cost $76.00 for 1 GW-fighta bomma. i also bought $30.00 worth of plasticard. the first one is constructed. all i need to do is "glyph" it up, and add 40k weapons (which i have plenty, though no bombs) if it's sunny tommorow i will post pictures of what i have done thus far.

Sidetrack/Off-Topic: i was sidetracked today. progress on "bomma" number 2 ran out of glue. busy re-furbishing konverted other ork vehicles. oh well @ least i'm doing something "constructive".

I am sad to say that those pictures aren't really helpful.

You need waaay more light, and preferably a neutral bacground

I made mine of plasticard. But you can use PVC tube for the main body and cut the plasticard for wings. The other details are on your own.

i suppose the photo's i previously posted were sloppy (too dark, out of focus etc), well done some more work on it. pretty much stippled chainmail over CB undercoat spray, and red detailing (would have done more, but slightly offtopic i have been building a stompa, x2 battlewagons, redoing all my quadbikes, x2 wheelaz, x3 wheelaz, and at same time slowly painting 4k of orks)

at the next non stormy/rainy day will post even better/more completed photographs

thanks for looking through my jumbled thread/s

I cover almost all of my scratchbuilds and conversions with a full layer of pieces of cardboard and plastic card. Also, random sheet of corugated cardboard with the top layer peeled away to show the wavy side looks great, just like corugated sheets of iron.
