Finished all these (except for 1 of the bastions and a wall section) in a single (very productive) day with the airbrush, weathering powder and lots of washes:

They might get a bit of extra loving when I pick out more details, but for now... these are ready for the battlefield!

Thanks for the kind words folks

I've also gotten out my GK army to fuse it back with my old "inducted IG". In the original army, I had more of an inquisitorial based army with inducted guard and 2 squads of stormtroopers (these aren't on here, because they still need to be refurbished). Here's an overview of the army:

So I refurbished some of the guard and took a few shots of the army as it stands now:

It's getting too big to still have full army shots in the lightbox... k:

And a few detail shots:

So yeah... Guess that's where my army is currently add with the new fortifications added to it

Looks fantastic, especially for how little time it took. My only qualm would be that the wall looks a little plain.

However, amazing, nice weathering.

Hell yeah... i'm seriously considering those weathering pigments now...

I'd almost bet that someone who has no idea of GW plastic kits, would assume those vehicles are actually metal models... such is your skill with battle-damage/weathering.

Kudos to you sir!

Superb! The weathering is expertly executed.

I would not be surprised if you won games by merely putting your awesome painted army on the table

People don't just surrender to me when they see my army, no...

I finished some aegis defence lines today. Only 1/3 is finished, the rest is still in progress as I got a crapload of them when I bought 3 of my own and then recieved an imperial strongpoint box from friends as a gift...

Really nice stuff, I'd love to be able to use a similar technique on my own buildings - do you think you could give a little tutorial on how to do it? Unless it's obvious in which case please excuse me, I'm an amateur painter.

I don't mind at all. Most of it done through airbrush work (although it's so frigging "crude" that regular spraycans should do just as well).

If you don't have an airbrush, try to get some good quality spraycans (like krylon). Krylon has all sorts of military colours like olive drab and foilage green. Just spraypaint the whole thing in a very dark green colour to get a full, even basecoat (not thick, just fully covered). Next, just spray a lighter green coat from the top down. Only the top areas of the building will catch the paint and you'll get a "zenithal highlight".

Next up, wash the whole thing with a black wash (I used thinned down ebony woodstain, thinned with mineral spirts).

Then aply a mix of weathering powder (I used mig dark mud for these) and water and leave that to dry. It's very patch and doesn't look natural. In order to make it look more realistic, go over the whole thing with a cloth or towel (this will be ruined, don't use your best stuff for this!) This will wipe away MOST of the pigment on flat area's and will leave it in the cracks of your buildings (wich is where you get most dirt and dust buidup anyway...)

Next, get a hold of some of the old "blisterpack foam". I think privateer press still uses that... I use that foam to stipple on some scorched brown spots onto the edges of the model (where you'd expect the first scratches to appear basically).

Hope that helps!

./facepalm. Even your low walls have a better paint job than my best tank. I will try my best to take your advice to heart and see if my own (beloved) tank survives.

Vallejo model colour USA olive drab for the darkest green and shading. (I don't think GW has a good alternative for this one).

Vallejo game colour Cayman green (a catachan green equivalent).

MIG dark mud pigment.

Vallejo earth and oxide brown pigment.

I've been reworking my old inquisitor lord from the Ordo Malleus too. He used to wield hammer and plasma pistol, but that's no longer an option... So he now has a magnetised stormbolter on his bracer, wich can be swapped out for one of the terminator psycannons or incinerators as they are now fully "compatible".

Also redid 2 of my old henchmen a bit to serve as servo skull markers in game.
