So i bought my friend Grimaldus and retine ($55AU) two weeks ago.
Since then, the order has been 'processing', with no contact from GW about it, even though on the order form it says 'usually ships within 24 hours'
I get two emails today. One at 2:27PM saying that grimaldus is out of stock in AU till mid August at the earliest. Then another email at 2:33PM saying that my order has been shipped.. 6 minutes after they just told me that its out of stock... Well, which is it? :/
Do games workshop have any idea what they're doing? I thought they would by now. A simple email, or a warning when ordering, that the item is out of stock and that there may be a delay would be fantastic. I only got an email after I sent an angry email to them asking what the hell was going on...
So not only are we paying alot more than most of the world, we also get terrible, confusing, customer service. Come here ebay...

I have to agree with Loki, I've ordered a whole mess of things, some of them a bit odd (I think), and they all arrived promptly and with good communication

i must somehow be unlucky then.
but an email or warning on the website would be fantastic that it'd be out of stock would just be fantastic at the time of ordering.
Email quotes:
I am emailing you in regards to order *****. Unfortunately we’re out of stock of Chaplain Grimaldus & Retinue at the moment. According to our UK office we should be getting more in stock sometime towards the middle of August. In turn this is holding up you order as we only ship orders that we can completely fulfill.
If you like we can organize what we call a push through. This will drop the out of stock item off your order and will send the rest of the items through. In the event of this happening you will only be invoiced and charged for stock we dispatch to you. Again if you choose this option and you still want the Chaplain Grimaldus & Retinue , you can create a separate order for the item by itself. So that way when it comes into stock we can ship it out to you.
Alternatively if you don’t mind waiting, we will leave your order as is and ship the entire order out to you once more Chaplain Grimaldus & Retinue come in stock. If you could please get in touch with us as soon as possible to inform us with which option you’d like to go with that would be fantastic. If you have any further questions or concerns regarding your order please let us know and we’ll do our best to help. Thank you for shopping with Games Workshop and we look forward to hearing from you soon
Thanks again for shopping with us. The order below has now been shipped. If your chosen shipping method included tracking, we’ll send you another email containing your tracking number and instructions for how to follow your shipment’s progress. Thanks once again for shopping with games-workshop.com and we hope to see you return soon.
I still havent gotten a tracking number email, 7 hours later... or a response from them saying whether its actually sent or not :/

Give them a call in the morning.
Chances are the item had recently run out of stock at the time of your order.

+1 always better to give them a call.
Did the emails you got come in response to you emailing them or was it just automated emails likely triggered from the order getting a status update? If it was in response to you then yeah bit of a nightmare but if its just an automated email then I'd contact them and get some actual service before deciding on the quality of the service

the customer shouldnt be the one to have to organise this stuff :/

Actually, I had the same thing happen with GW US at the time of Ork Kommandos being on "rundown" before swapping to Finecast.
The first email, the "Out of Stock" bit is an automated email which is sent to people who purchase items on the list of things being swapped out.
What then happens, according to the GW rep I talked with and which actually matches the UPS tracking data I was given, is they see if they can fulfill it through shops which might have it in stock presently. They then ship it to you--or have it returned to their main warehousing and then send it on from there.

hmm, if you can, find out more info about it? Coz i thought gw blocked everyone from shipping to AU, and if GW do it, itd kinda defeat the purpose of that.

I'm pretty sure you can do it, but they charge like a wounded bull for shipping. If you're after discounts, eBay is the way to go. Many eBay stores offer 10% or 20% of GW-US retail price, with nominal or free shipping.

Nope, they're higher.
Though they do have a better ratio to the pound, slightly, it's not very noticeable.

Wayland and Maelstrom both stock Vallejo, and deliver overseas for free after (I think) 20 pounds

The worst things is our dollar is stronger than the americans and we pay so much more, also I second the smuggling movement, though i think if someone could just get EVERYTHING on ebay we would all be happy (or us in aus anyway) now that you've seen our prices

I'm pretty sure the game colour has more pigment, meaning it takes less coats to get a solid finish. But I've only got game colour, not model colour, so I can't really comment.

At the very least they are similar, like $44 for a box of guardsmen or something. I assume it was New Zealand and not Aussie prices because the FAQ refered to New Zealand. Never actually fixed that problem, just installed Firefox so I could set the site to the United States on firefox. On the bright side having the GW site on chrome lead to the New Zealand site does put things in perspective.
The funny thing was that when it first happened I didn't realize for like 2 days. I was like "Did GW just double their prices? That's it, i'm out."
