I thought it was a typo when I first saw them at £55 or whatever it was, now I've just seen they're over £60!

I can't help but wonder how GW came to price these guys up - sure they're 5 finecast models but really? For just £10 more you can buy an IG Bane Blade that has over 250 components and can be made in to a different tank for a different role!

What's the communities thoughts on the Blood Knights? Does anyone have them? Are they worth the price tag when used in game? I'd want them to pwn ass by themselves if I bought them lol

If they were able to be bought individually, I would have them. I would buy one every week or so, make it, paint it, get another.

60+ in a single go for 5 minutes? Maybe when I win the lottery. One of the concerning things that put me off my beloved VC's is the cost of running an army. Just 10 GW skellies for 15 is madness also.

Completely agree, the VC appealed to my goth side, just not my inner frugality, so looks as though I won't be collecting them any time soon!

Would love to hear of anyone that's run them and your thoughts as to the value of the box in game

My FLGS owner has them and they are all painted and look pretty in a display case.

I converted mine from spare bits and traded bits (if you ever plan on having two Terrorgheists then you have two blood knights that just need horses)

If you are handy with a file and green stuff, you can convert them pretty nicely from Chaos Knights for about 1/3 the price.

I don't really care for the look of them.

I'm currently saveing my pennies for the Gamezone ones

The price relates to when they were sold individually. The metal models were nice... but £55 is a lot to risk on finecast...

Meh, I'd rather convert some Blacknights or whatever.

I got em in a trade used. I need to repair the bent lances/musician horn, but I'm happy with 'em. Granted if you add up all I got in the trade I maybe got $500 retail for like $150... The thig that drives me craziest is I can't get another one for a unit of 10. You HAVE to get it with command.

*ahem* again, it should be easy, if you have skills with green stuff and a file, to make Chaos Knights into Blood Knights.

I've got the Gamezone ones. Pretty good, not much cheaper but I think they're cooler.

They do look more than pretty damn awesome, and if they're cheaper to boot then they're winners in my eyes!

A) I'm still working on my Greenstuff skills. Basic conversions are easy, I love pinning and the like... But I've never been good at sculpting.
B) I already have the real models for the front rank, so making the back rank look like it fits seamlessly would be more trouble than it's worth. While chaos knights are an option for those who want to run more than 5, I recommend starting with them and ending with them rather than what I have.

@OP i looked into them a while back and i came to the conclusion that they are way too expensive for 5 models, i spent money on cold one riders and a few bits from empire knights ( i can't remembr which ones ) and with a few tweaks here and there the first one i did looks really cool. i'll try to find a pic and post it up.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

They are basically priced like individual character models. Which would be $15-20 a blister. So the price they are at kinda makes sense as the models are of similer detail to what a character model would be.

The issue is, they aren't characters. They are similer to Chaos knights in use, but are infinitly more expensive.

How effective are they, or would they be, in game? Temptingly devastating, or a complete waste? Or that middle ground that I keep forgetting about?

As long as you don't do something silly like charge a 10 deep unit that will kill them through CR, theyll absolutely wreck units. That said, frenzy.

The bare Khorne bezerker heads that have fangs and some chaos knights would be the way to go for me. Still they might surprise you and release a plastic kit yet.
But then if the unit really is that good, this is GW we are talking about

If you do not want your over powered unit of Blood Knights getting sucked into a combat by Frenzy, just run a unit of Dogs or heck HexWraiths in front of them.

They cannot get passed thus they have no legal charges so no frenzy roll is made. Declare charge with the unit in front and then declare charge with Blood Knights at the target of your choosing.

I love the models for the blood knights and they sound cool in game but I'm not prepared to pay over £60 for 5 models where you have to have a full command group. I would convert but I'm hopeless with green stuff etc. I think they should sell the models separately and lower the price a bit so you can make up your own unit composition or make a box without the command group so people can easily make a unit of 10+ without conversions.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.

That would be ideal but I doubt it will happen at least not anytime soon.

Seriously, when I say you can convert Chaos Knights, I am really not talking about a LOT of work with green stuff... there is a lot more work to be done with a file and shaving but that is the easy part. The green stuff is more used to fill in gaps or cover up indented chaos sigils.

They're pretty models, but were a pain to assemble.

Any chance you can post a pic to show how you did it?

I have not done it with Chaos Knights but I have using the vampire from the zombie dragon and assorted horses from different sets. I can get pictures and post them when they are finished. (I still have to paint the musician, finish detailing the rest and base them).
However, if I ever want to field more than the 5, I will be getting a box of Chaos Knights and tackling them. So far, I have not been motivated or able to afford more than 5 in a list.

OK cool, I might have a look into it at some point when I have an army large enough to field them. Until then, more skeletons and zombies are needed

Wow... just wow, how much is that?

Aside from that I Converted mine from a box of cold one knights (because you know undead raptor knights dose not sound appealing...)

Mainly because they are VC and undead I choose other models that can make the points and are convincing and buy them, because of the prices...
