Finally I got around to start a P&M blog, to motivate me in my painting.
Some quick background: I started playing 40K exactly 3 years ago with a codex marine chapter of my own, which I converted into Blood Angels a year later. Also near that time I started a little hive of bugs of my own and some Lizards from fantasy.
I got down to my club today and took some pictures of the painted half of my army.

Currently I'm working on an Assault Squad without JPs. I hope to have them finished before my orders arrive from FW and Maelstrom on Tuesday.

I really like the colour scheme that you used, itsvery dark, yet vibrant. What additions do you have planned for this army? Any Apoc. units?

Thank You. Yeah i don't like the bright red, GW is using. Dark red is much better imho.
I have to note that the Razorback and my Chaplain with JPs aren't painted by me. I bought them painted. The Chaplain has Ultramarine symbols, but I love the paint job on him, so he will stay like this.
I already have two more tactical squads, one devastator with MLs, 2 Baals (one with AC and HPs, other full pyro), 1 Predator with Lascannons and FW armor upgrade (the other one which is on the pics painted is magnetised fully), 1 Land Raider, 1 assault squad which i'm painting right now, 1 Sanguinary Priest in terminator armour (made from the GK terminator box, just like my librarian), a squad of normal terminators, one rhino/razorback, one whirlwind, one converted chaplain from DC box, 8 more DC on foot, and 2x6 Sternguard if i can get the yellow paint off from the metal minis (the other 2 is two dudes with meltas from DC and normal marine bitzs). So I have a lot to paint.
Also I have a set of apothecarys from FW, two boxes of Sanguinary Guard (the second for some options and to make a Dante, Sanguinor and Astorath models) on the way (hopefully they will arrive on Tuesday). And some GK allies because in my local club there are a daemon and a CSM army (and potentialy a second csm army) So the usual Imperial protocol must be used. (also I love the GK termies )
We very rarely play APO My long lasting plan is to have the first and 4th company completely and a healthy armoury

I'm currently working on another Predator Annihilator with FW extra armour and on a 10 man GK terminator squad. I finished my inquisitor and my vindicare assassin but don't have pictures of them yet.

I finished the Predator, but forgot to take picture of it, but I will tomorrow. Also finished the Inquisitor and the Grey Knights are 90% finished, I only need to paint the little shields.



I really should update more often

Yesterday I finished my kitbashed Chaplain and Sergaent models. I needed a normal Bolt Pistol & Chainsword Sarge for a tournament. I run him now in an assault squad with drop pod, but havent painted him in assault markings.

So to continue where we left off in my intro thread: I feel like an idiot for asking for pictures of your GK when you had them in here already .

How often have you gotten to use your Terminator Chaplain (and how effective is he really)? My brother has one and attaches it to his Terminator squad (AoBR termies), but I've found that they haven't been too hard to handle, even with the Terminator Chaplain attached. I had Ghazghkull and some Nobz charge his Terminator squad and of course my Nobz got wiped out, but Ghazghkull stuck with it and took out the entire Terminator squad (in about 3 rounds of combat mind you--I was having some terrible luck on my to-hit rolls in the second round). After all of it though, the Terminators only managed 1 wound on Ghazghkull. I guess this could just be a bad example because Ghaz is a relatively tough model to take down from what I've seen in other battle reports.

I use him with my Assault terminators. 10 terminators, half with hammers, a sanguinary priest (apothecary) in terminator armour, and a Reclusiarch in terminator armour (a high ranking chaplain). If I get to charge, everybody rerolls the to hit rolls, so it is quite devastating. I mostly don't accepts challenges, because that way i can do more damage on the characters in the enemy units. I don't know how effective would that be against nobs and ghazkull, I haven't played against orks in nearly 2 years.
On my current tournament list i don't use the chaplain because I didn't had the points for the terminator armour, so I use a Librarian instead.
I also like to use chaplains and sanguinary priests with assault marines.

Yesterday I finished my Dante kitbash. It is made mostly from the sanguinary guard box. It's Jump Pack and right arm is from the assault marine box, and the left arm and the little wings on its JP are from the Death Company box.

Also took a picture of my second Predator. The one with the FW extra armour.

These are amazing and are a great inspiration to me. I'm putting together my FIRST 40k Army. Blood Angels. I bought a half painted army with TONS of foot slog (41 Tac Marines, 5 DC w/JP's, 5 Asslt Termies, 5 Tac Termies, 2 Captains, 5 Devs, and Astorath.) Also got a Land Raider Redeemer, a Rhino, 2 Whirl Winds, a Pred and 2 basic Dreads. (All that for $250) I'm going to be converting the entire army this Nov. I'm thinking of converting the Pred to a Baal. The 2 WW's I will be converting to Baals. Any ideas on this? Did you have to do the same thing? Or did you buy Baal kits?

I buy'd most of the stuff new in box. Only a half assault squad, one Baal, a Razorback, a Dreadnought, Chaplain and a Drop pod is second hand. Oh, and a tac squad. I would recomend that you get some assault marines, both with and without JPs. I have 1-1 squads, but i will get in the near future 1-1 more. they are way better troops than tac squads.
Not bad for $250 The predator would need only a weapon swap, but the WW's would be more difficult because you need to build the whole turret. (or maybe you could buy just the turrets somewhere.)

Yes I plan on out right buying two boxes of assault marines to fill those positions. I have a BA list in the Army Lists section of what I am planning to build. The turrets I am currently trying to get through Frontline Gaming currently. They said they might be able to help me get those and some other BA specific bits I am looking for.

I made a new captain for the company I'm building. I don't liked a old captain from the Black Reach box set. Also think that Lightning Claws look awesome

I love the gold that turned out on your SG. What is your process for the base gold? Will they have red or black wings?

I painted the full figure black as always. Then used the same "technique" I use with my normal marines armour and tanks. It's like a dry brush, but with lot's of paints on the brush. Usually it will take two to 4 layers.
I don't know, probably i will paint them dheneb stone then white and bleached bone drybrush/highlight. Will see.

Woah, it has been a while since I checked this out! I see you've been more productive than I have in the past month or so.

Which red color have you been using for your Blood Angels? I'm (slowly) building a Red Corsairs Chaos list and the red you have looks perfect for them.

Also, how did you do in that tournament you mentioned you were going to, by the way?

I have been slacking of for nearly a month now. I didn't finish up the guard, i have the captain half painted, but I have nearly fully assembled 15 assault marines. Maybe I will finish them up this week.

I'm using Mechrite red/Mephiston Red, but I'm trying out a vallejo red (I think dark red, but I'm not sure right now.)

I finished 15th out of 18th, so my goal was met (not be in the last 3 ) I lost 3 matches out of 5 (all against gunline armies). It was fun, I hope I will have time to go next time.

I really like the lightning claws on the captain! I'm looking forward to more updates on your Blood Angels and GK. I tend to get in to this mood where I just don't feel like painting (mostly because I'm really not that great at it), but seeing these updates really makes me want to get my act together and go paint.

I'm still alive

I had a serious painting/assembling burn out for the last 4 months, but finally managed to finish my Captain and Sanguinary Priest in Terminator armour.


I still need to finish the assembly of the 15 Assault Marine :/ ( and a some charachters too)

I know how you feel with that burn out, but the urge always comes back. Stronger than ever...
On a serious note though, you've got some great stuff there, hope you get motivated soon, I'd love to see more.
Only thing I'd suggest, if you don't mind, would be drilling out the barrels, or painting holes in the ends of the guns.

Next ones in the painting line will be probably the Sanguinary Guard and a tac squad. (also will finish the build of some charachters and an assault squad)

The sanguinary guard still needs some work (wings, icons, etc.) But I got new basecoat brushes yesterday and couldn't resist, to try it on a tactical squad.
