Apparently a whole bunch of e'm believe that Yarrick is unkillable.

Orks are the power of positive thinking exemplified!
They know The Secret.
And yeah...I like this idea. Yarrick is unkillable by the Orks, as the Orks think they cannot kill him.

Seriously? Do you have to jump into every thread involving Orks to cover your ears and scream "I don't believe in the Waaagh!!!"
We get it Gargantuan. You can't handle the simple truth about Orks.

This is fallacious logic.
There were not myths or legends circulating around the Ork campfires at night, about some "squishy pink fings" that went by the name of "hoomiez".
Not knowing something exists is not the same as not believing it exists.

Rofls . I'ma have to say this does break ork-logic though. Even though their crap shouldn't work but does, they still know they have to cover that broken greery-fing or attack that ded-killy tank to smash it up. That said, while most orks view Yarrik as unkillable, Mr. Thrakka does not. I'm sure a number of other orks simply view him as a challenge to be beaten. This contest of belief prolly resulted in Yarrik living an unusually long time and surviving multiple WAAAGH!!!s. He is hard-to kill, not unkillable.
PS. Love the bit about the orks personifying "positive thinking".

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |

in Inquisitor, a Space Marine can take a krak grenade, pull out the pin, eat the grenade, throw the pin, and the thrown pin will actually kill a normal man, whereas the Space Marine won't even have indigestion. This has actually happened in a game. Hell, a marine can throw his bolt shells and do more damage than by shooting his boltgun |

Genetor Anzions theory is not really valid IMO. That's like asking a biologist why my car won't start.

'IMO' doesn't mean much when there is fluff basis such as the Armagedon codex that states that the speed freaks with red bikes do go faster, due to orks thinking so.
Also your logic is flawed, you assume that a biologist only knows biology, I'm a chemical developer but i can reel off facts about botany and zoology. A biologist could also have a deep interest in car engines.

I find it sad that people try so hard to smudge out something the isn't 100% super dystopic grimdark. It prefer the setting with a slight dash of variety and humor, which orks certainly possess even if it is the dark kind. The orks are a tad silly and it fits them perfectly. Leave them alone.
That their equipment work because they believe in it is awesome and adds to their character.
What I don't understand that is it perfectly ok for people that the ruinous powers of the warp can physically alter vehicles, twist them into daemonic hosts and change statistics completely, the same goes for mortals.
But that is ok! Its OK since its the work of the Chaos Gods.
But in the case of Orks then NO! That's just ridiculous! Shear belief is not enough! The Waargh field is impossible!
If daemons can do it, why not orks?
It might not be the orks themselves but Gork and Mork.
...
As for the Yarrick idea I say it fits perfectly

The proof is their weapons. Half of them shouldn't work. Or even hold together at all. Hell some of em are probably held together by spit and string. Yet they work. They ONLY work in ork hands too.
Their belief is why weirdboyz power waxes and wanes.

BOOM! There's yer proof! I don't understand why you want to destroy the fun of orks by saying stuff like that Gargantuan, it's fun, it fits, it's awesome.
I personally love this idea. But by that theory, the Orks believe that Yarrik is invincible/immortal. SO that would explain why he is so old, and so good at fighting still

I have to say that the theory could easily work. It's also quite possibly why Yarrik will keep fighting into old age, alongside the fact he's a commissar and so wants to: The orks believe he won't stop fighting, so he'll keep fighting no matter how old he gets.
