Just meant to be a hgilight of FAQs for some thigns you might have missed.
So new FAQs are out. I think a lot of gamers don’t really delve deep into each FAQ, they kinda expect this stuff to trickle down to them through other gamers and might read their own FAQ, at best. That is probably much less true of the people that come and read 40 blogs, but still. I’m a nut, I’ve read all the FAQs, and I want to pass on to you the things I think are important.
All of it, of course is clarifications of things not too many people were confused about, as per usual, or things that have very little effect for most people, book keeping, really, but some of it is MOMENTOUS.
Here’s the 40k FAQ page, btw. Btw, notice most of the edit dates were late July? And they released it just after NOVA? GW doesn’t care about your problems.

Templars also can't take Drop Pods for Terminators anymore. The RZ nerf is huge, though.

GW released the FAQs later so that they could come out alongside the Dark Vengeance release, since many players would be joining 6th edition once the mini-rulebooks became available. This has been known for a while-- at least since the studio open night IIRC.

You really think all that many players wait to play 6th ed until the mini-rulebook comes out? Myself, I never buy those starter sets. What am I going to do with 1/3 of 2 armies I don't play?

Many people wait for the starter sets to come out so they can grab one of the small rulebooks that come in it.

Well, could victims of Onslaught charge before? (fairly familiar with Tyranids, but not a bug player) If they could, then the power taking that away is a pretty huge buff.

Whelp, one thing I spotted in the IG FAQ is something of a game-changer in my mind. Leman Russ now have vehicle type - Heavy. Roll 12" and fire all weapons at full BS - who cares if you can't do a flat out move with that kind of firepower? 3 demolishers with plasma sponsons just became terrifying...

Yeah, I did miss that one, thought it was essentially the same as the "lumbering" rule. Though......I believe Heavy vehicles can only move 6", right?

Yes. Double AC Tank Hunter Terminators in a Drop Pod was one of the best units in the Codex.

Ok......why not just Deep Strike them normally? BT still had the old style drop pods anyway, right?
Speakign from GK with psycannons, I've never found it that hard to get to 24" first turn anyway.

Do you even know what Onslaught does? It lets a unit run and fire in the same phase. People were claiming that because of the wording it allowed Fleet units to charge also.
They were clarifying it doesn't.
It's not something you cast on your opponent's units. Page 62 C:T.

Ah, you're totally right. It's actually worse than the original lumbering behemoth rule as far as mobility is concerned, better for firepower. The original LB rule was move up to 6", fire one weapon plus the turret gun, any faster you fire no weapons but can only go 6+ D6". Now it's only 6" max, but all weapons all the time.
I got a bit excited and misread the heavy entry as allowing for cruising as well as combat speed....

Apparently, you only get 1 attempt to “nullify” a power, so a Runepreist with a Runeweapon, wolf’s tail, and a bear’s scrotum doesn’t get 27 chances to dispel it.
Juvenile probably, but I laughed.

Drop Pods mean you can drop without fear of epic failure. That makes a monstrous advantage. You also get a pod to block off the enemy's LoS and you don't have to stand around begging to take a plasma cannon to the face.

Thanks. I'm glad they're limiting the SW anti-psyker nonsense in some ways, but at the same time, (same as I was saying on FMCs) they're totally making up a new rule here, and pretending they're not. Well for Nids it is not a huge diffrence. It affects exactly 1 gun on one model right now. Flyrant with Devourer. Every other wepaon (including all the wepaons on hte Harpy) use blast markers.
Not sure how it changes things for the Demons, but Nids are kinda ho hum about the change. It helps, but you still need 6's to glance with the BL Dev.

Demons have the Bolt. For HT, I get you, but it's twelve TL str 6 shots. You're not exactly going to take out a vendetta with that (though you totally could, it you were dog fighting and got on his 6...rear armor) but it's still pretty nasty firepower.
Obviously they weren't thinking of flyers when they made most of the big Tyranid guns blasts, way back when. But the rule will still matter for the future.

In regards to cover saves from the Deffrolla, it's not that surprising if one has a close knowledge of the rules. You get a cover save against anything that isn't a close combat attack, and anything that does NOT specifically deny cover saves.
So, if you are in a position in which you are granted cover saves, and you are rammed by the Deffrolla, you get your cover saves. It was the same with 5th. In general though, trying to bring it up was always met with huff-n-puff reactions.
Of course, if you have a KFF Mek in your Deffrolla, it does mean whatever you ram, will get cover saves.

Harpies have the Stinger Salvo which isn't Blast or LB. edit: 12 shots, 8 hit, average of 1.5-2 glances, not out of the realm of belief to get 3 in one volley... which will kill any current flyer.

TWC and any models that have the Hammer of Wrath USR don't get any buffs when using HoW. Auto hit at I10, base S, AP - that's it. No +2S if the Rider has a Frost Axe, no Rending, nada.

It will mean a big change to Flyrant Builds. Standard used to be BS/ LW and TL Dev. I think it will now go to 2x TL Dev for that reason.
Most people went for the Vector Strike and then shooting the rear armor before. The Lash whip was good for if you got grounded as if you get charged it made everyone I1. Gets you a chance to kill some models before they strike. I think that the utility of the whip will out weight the extra devourer, but it is REALLY close. I think it depends on if you are going anti-flyer or anti-ground forces.

Yes, I understand, but one of the things that always drove me nuts (mostly in 5th) was the Necron Command Barge not letting you have cover saves. (mostly, it wa Alex Fennel doing it to My Stormraven....drove me nuts). Obviously, that's much less a factor now, but still one let's you have a cover save and the other doesn't.
If we just had a hard and fast rule: "If it's in the assault phase, you don't get cover saves, otherwise, you do" then fine. But instead each thing goes one way or the other, without reason.
Personally, it would make much more sense for you to get a cover save against a (historically slow an uncoordinated) necron flying by at 60 mph than a freaking steamroller.
Actaully, thinking on it, I betch the real reason they did it this way is they wanted skimmers to get a save versus it. But a smoke launcher would do the same?

Ohh and re-reading your full post on your site.
Tank Shocking a Mycetic Spore is not a slaughter, it is a dangerous thing to do. The Spore is an MC and that means that it is AP and it can Smash with it's one attack. So that is at least a pretty decent chance to do something nasty to the unit tank shocking it.

You are forgetting the Ordnance rule. If you fire an ordnance weapon, all other weapons are snapfire. Lumbering Behemoth used to let you fire one additional weapon normally, now you can't. A couple of Russ variants improved with this, but for most of them, and your Demolisher, they got much, much worse. Why GW felt the need to take away a cool unique special rule and replace it with a USR that nerfs the tanks I do not know.

I thought of that, but CAN you use Smash on a Death or Glory roll? I didn't think you can. Though, looking it over, now, I'm not seeing anything saying you can't.

I thought of that, but CAN you use Smash on a Death or Glory roll? I didn't think you can. Though, looking it over, now, I'm not seeing anything saying you can't.
Yes you can still Smash. One attack divided in half and then rounded up. So one atttack at S10 with re-roll to pen and AP2.
