Was looking to make a Daemon Prince of Khorne with the Axe of Blind Fury. Then I noticed that daemon princes don't get marks of their power, only become daemons of their power. So a daemon prince can't take anything that requires a mark to use.

Would this be a correct interpretation of the rules (which will hopefully get FAQed).

Also magma-cutters say they only affect a model already hit, which would seem to suggest it can only affect a model you have already wounded but not killed.

Yes.

It requires a hit not a wound, so if you fail to wound you can still cut up that foe.

You should also note that the Demon Prince is not allowed to take any artifacts in the army section.

Yep, so you can take the Black Mace, if you wish

Black Mace would be ok for the addition d6 attacks, but then your attacks would be ap4 since your using a weapon. You would get the versatility of your standard attacks at ap2 or standard +d6 at ap4 which could be handy.

Still think it is weird that a daemon prince doesn't have the mark of their power though.

Except he doesnt get to be 4++ since he doesnt hve the mark.

I will say that before i read tht clarification, i sent one into a squad of ork nobs(all chracters) and came out as a crystalline, mechanoid with life-taking warp claws. Now that he doesnt get 4++, i likely wont take him.

I welcome it.

Boneblade - again, THEY DONT GET MARKS. Daemon Princes dont. get. marks. They are dedicated to a God instead, and that has different bonuses to a Mark.

You cannot get a 4++ on a Daemon Prince

Good call, you are absolutely correct.

But they aren't Champions of Chaos and don't roll on the boons table, anyways. So no crystalline, mechanoid life-taking warp claws.

Can they not take the Sigil of Corruption? Didn't see any reason why not when I gave the book a quick peak.

They do not have access to special issue wargear. Where the sigil is located. That would be one reason why....

Ah they only can take specific wargear.

So lets sum up.

1) No Marks or any statline benefits
2) No access to a majority of wargear options
3) Not EW
4) Not a Champion of Chaos so no Boons Table rolling
5) Not even T6 like nearly every other MC in the game

At 145 points base the Daemon Princes can jolly well stay in the Warp until 7th edition. Shore leave shall only occur when one of my gribbly Champions rolls a 65 or 66

Dangit, i thought being a character ment they had"champion ofchaos," but now i see it is a special rule for every character other than the DP. you just ruined another one of the few joys i had remaining for my beautifully painted dust collector.

I dont understand why theydid this!

Because GW hates us?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Because everyone and their grandmother who played Chaos Space marines used daemon princes. They were great. So nerf them into uselessness so you can sell some of your finecast special characters.

I hear Abaddon and Huron are going to sell really well. Nothing like outflanking Abaddon and a unit of slannesh terminators in a land raider with feel no pain icon. Or just put him in a land raider full of scoring slaanesh chosen.

How come Abbadon can Outflank :S?

Abbadon's Warlord trait grants Outfank to an Infantry unit. Abbadon is an Infantry unit. Technically RAW Abbadon cannot join a Marked unit, however that is already being discussed elsewhere.

Abby has the Black Crusader trait, not Master of Deception.

My bad, was at work when I replied. Since (AFAIK) there is only one trait that grants Outflank, and I did not recall Abby having a special rule to confer Outflank to a unit...well, you get the picture.

Huron grants infiltrate to d3 units. Abaddon makes chosen scoring.

Together they can make an outflanking land raider full of termintaors that give abaddon feel no pain, or a scoring unit of chosen (but no outflank)

Aren't they both Warlord Traits?
There's only one Warlord, so only one Warlord Trait can be used.
