I work my way through their store images every so often.
I guess it speaks to the quality of their concept art, but I rarely find that the minis match up. The sculptors don't seem to completely buy in to the anime aesthetic.

I played a game or two at Gen con a few years ago. Really liked it, but figured that I just don't have room for another miniature game at the moment. I do keep my eyes on their figures though for some great ideas as count as.

Nice. Only one I don't like is the first one, the facial expression is just strange. Rest of the model looks great.
Played a few games, really fun.

Sometimes the sculptor takes the anime aesthetic too far:
That being said, I agree. The concept art seems to always be done by one person, and the characters are lithe, lively, and likable. The end result is quite varied when translating it to a sculpt.
Personally, I'm just turned off by the immense amount of slutgear everyone has.
I got one model, Cordelia Rosalind, because it looked interesting from the concept art and painted images. After picking it up myself, I realized the model itself was a bit chubbier than originally anticipated in both the face and body (we're painters/modelers here, we're all superficial).
Not only that, but I realized that her panties and stockings were modeled on in the interior in spite of it being meant to be completely covered up upon assembly. It's like having the interior of a 40k vehicle modeled but assembly requires you to never see the interior. Except instead of a vehicle's insides, they modeled a girl's underwear. That was the moment I learned the game was NOT for me.
Amusingly, I found a video review by someone on this very topic: http://youtu.be/18WkNwHLuYc?t=6m46s
Your mileage may vary.

All of the art is indeed by one person.
You can find his deviant art gallery here http://wen-m.deviantart.com/gallery/
Not all of his Anima work is here but there is a lot of it.

I own a large chunk of Samael and the game is really fun. However their terribly slow release schedule, unclear rules conflicts, horrible power creep, and rather large rules loopholes killed it in our area.
In short I love the models, but the games is extremely beer and pretzels fun.
EDIT: On a side note, cut the sculptors a little slack. It is near impossible to match the godly level of art that Wen puts out. His work is simply jaw dropping and I don't know any sculptor that could do it true justice.

I think that is due to how Juan Navaro Perez sculpts models. I read somewhere a few years ago after he had sculpted Konsuke that he had done a face under his mask, which is molded on, because he does clothing in layers over the basic musculature.
To me having a woman's underpants sculpted in a way that will never ever be seen on the model is a non-issue. Especially in an industry that loves to have chainmail bikinis everywhere.

Jan 2013 release's:
First up, Hecatondies Sigma Zero - Neutral Faction
And, Hamadria - Neutral Faction
So there you have it, two new Anima Tactics miniatures for January. Hecatondies is truly an amazing looking mini, as far as I can tell he's a summon, sadly I can't find better pictures of the sculpt itself I've looked everywhere.
So have at people, do like you like the new release's?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just noticed I forgot to add this in my last update:
Samael Boxed Set:
The Samael Boxed Set includes the following 6 Samael figures in it ...
*Kairos
*Janiel
*Aoi Inukami
*Genma
*Momiji
*Yuki
Until next time kiddos.

The game is awsome, but trying to get people into it gets a strange, blank look over thier faces when you mix the look of the miniatures with the description of the game.
Needless to say, they are one of those projects that sits on the counter, needing love when I clear some of the other stuff.... then never getting any.
Something that would tame down thier issues would be to actually try revolving some more "ANIME" aspects into the game, instead of trying to be too cool for school.
Thier public relations for the factions, fluff, and world, in short... are lacking to try to get people to like it.
good looking faction sets, though. Good choice for those in the boxes, as well.

Upcoming release: (via beast of war)
Samael Shadow
Also stat card previews of two future characters:
Cool looking stuff as always, Crimson Death sounds awesome so glad I play Samael. The Shadow would make a great Kingdom Death character
for those who don't play Anima Tactics.
Enjoy.

Good news about the intro to plastics. Hopefully some of the older kits get a chance to get redone. I've been wanting some of the more ornate/ monstrous stuff for some time but am just very hesitant with metal, especially when it comes to larger and more complex figures. Knight guy with the spear looks nice.
The sad truth though? My biggest hangup with Anima is still having really nice looking art that doesn't totally match up with the figure.
Very superficial on my part, but I just can't get over it. I like the poses in the art- I want the model to be similar!

Plastic, eh? This is a development I could get behind. Even if it's just restic. I too hope they redo some of their earlier sculpts as well. I love those knights and funky robot things. Hopefully the change in materials will also equal a reduction in pricing as well.
