A number of girls from Tunisia have become pregnant after traveling to Syria to participate in "sexual jihad," according to Lotfi Bin Jeddo, Tunisia's Interior Minister.
The girls “are (sexually) swapped between 20, 30, and 100 rebels and they come back bearing the fruit of sexual contacts in the name of sexual jihad and we are silent doing nothing and standing idle,” Al Arabiya reported he said during an address to the National Constituent Assembly.
The Telegraph has more:
"After the sexual liaisons they have there in the name of 'jihad al-nikah' - (sexual holy war, in Arabic) - they come home pregnant," Ben Jeddou told the MPs.
He did not elaborate on how many Tunisian women had returned to the country pregnant with the children of jihadist fighters.
Jihad al-nikah, permitting extramarital sexual relations with multiple partners, is considered by some hardline Sunni Muslim Salafists as a legitimate form of holy war.
Jeddo also said his ministry had taken a number of steps to stem the flow of Tunisians travelling to Syria.
Tunisia's former Mufti (the country's highest religious official) warned earlier this year that 13 Tunisian girls "were fooled" into travelling to Syria to offer sexual services for the rebels. He described the practice as a form of “prostitution.”
“For Jihad in Syria, they are now pushing girls to go there. 13 young girls have been sent for sexual jihad. What is this? This is called prostitution. It is moral educational corruption,” Battikh said.

I think the idea here is that the mufti in question is either lying or willingly deceiving himself. The impression I got from the article was that he wasn't necessarily telling the truth. I don't think the article was trying to say that anyone is ACTUALLY getting tricked into going. I mean, there's lots of news coming in from over there that isn't necessarily accurate.

I admit to being a little confused about the intent of the 'sexual holy war' myself. Is it for morale boosting at this point? I mean, wars today don't generally last long enough that outbreeding an enemy is a viable strategy. Perhaps it's just one of those things I don't get...

God is a typo XD My bad. I meant Islam. My understanding of Jihad is that it is done to protect Islam, so how does sexual Jihad protect Islam? I guess out breeding makes sense, especially for a cultural world that is very much still living in the early modern period.

Taking the articles at face value, the insinuation is that the practice is really just prostitution which I can believe. I just want to know what the religious and ideological purpose is which none of the articles I've read make clear.

I just don't understand why the girls went... Were they told that "god loves it when you feth a load of men"? Or was the goal to get impregnated by the "heroic rebels" so they could have kids that would grow up to join the Jihad?

Probably to bring kids into the jihad. Add numbers to the soldiers. During the Crusades this happened a lot.

Yep. Hell, is it even the girls making the choice? Or are their parents sending them? I have a hard time believing that these girls, in this region, can disappear like this with their parents having absolutely no knowledge of what is happening. Are the families involved in this practice? Having a child out of wedlock is a huge deal in Islam, so surely the parents must at least give some kind of tacit approval, and that's not even mentioning the communities they live in. Most of the articles are like "this is happening" and we're all like "why" and '"how" XD My questions aren't being given clear answers modern media!

I know most armies of the time period had a train of civilians(which included prostitutes) but I've never heard of any sort of organized prostitution done. Especially not by the Church itself.

Sure you aren't just confusing the very common fact that Prostitutes followed armies around because it was good business.

No.... Sometimes women were used to get pregnant so that they can prepare another generation of soldiers. This has happened but its is rare. Prostitution does get great money from armies, but sometimes the ones pulling the prostitutes usually are trying to build a generation of soldiers or milk soldiers for money and seduce soldiers to another side.

However all forms of (even) Islam so openly and blatantly condemn this sort of behaviour, to the extent it would be a capital offense in many countries including Iran and Saudi Arabia.

This is beyond fethed up, it won't help the Syrian rebels cause in the Islamic world, let alone the west, I cant see many Imams praising this straight faced. Violent jihad, I can see how they can word to the faithful, but holy prostitutes of Allah, going to Syria to make holy bastards. You know, you've made a good case for this entire story being fabricated. Spreading false allegations of them tricking women across the border for forbidden liaisons while at the same time violating deeply held religious taboos? Sounds like the grand poobah of propaganda.
