So at my first tournament I 'won' best painted but couldnt claim it due to not having my bases done. This kinda spurred an interest in going back and making my army look even better, and after a few weeks (and painting 40 gargoyle wing pairs on Saturday) I finally finished.

My renovations were 'ardcoating my carapaces (Which looks great in person, not so great on this crappy camera), doing a 4 desert color blend on all claws and hooves for the big dudes, and doing the most basic of black bases on all of my guys out of spite. Im sure eventually I'll do a better basing job but I honestly just want the bases black and plain for gaming purposes.

I'm considering (but putting off) developing a nice black tiger stripe technique to put on ALL of my bugs, but that will come much later.

Anyway, feedback is welcome!

Thats hands down the best Nid army I have seen so far, I really really liked the contrast between the orange and the very ligth shade of purple. Also is it just me or dose those Zoantropes glow?

I like them. Orange is a great choice, and the purple is pretty good! I like the glowing effect they seem to have.

No glow, just the shiny 'ardcoat responding to two light sources. I think its a lot more tame looking in real life.

Thanks dudes

I love it! I've been wanting to do something similar, in terms of achieving a more "natural" looking color scheme.

Thanks!

I flew my parents up to visit their granddaughter as an early christmas present, and my wife and I took them to our Games Workshop where my mother proceeded to buy me two Carnifexes. So I think I'll field the 'tiger stripe' design on one of them after some practice and Ill post them up here by Saturday.

The orange is so smooth, it looks great. It really makes out. 10 for the rare colour choice! Keep up the good work! If I were you I would paint the gargoyle bases too.
